Amazing food. Outrageous prices and generally deserving of them.
BUT - Desperately in need of a dress code!! When I go to a really high end place like this I do not want to be surrounded by people in shorts, tennis shoes, and raggedy t-shirts baring their tasteless tattoos for everyone. Seriously - got class? Didn't think so. I don't care that they are there to celebrate the latest pot harvest, that is their lifestyle choice. But looking like you just rolled in off the beach is not cool when you are paying exorbitant prices. Buy some class Five Eleven and enforce a dress code.
We arrived just 15 minutes before closing. Â Our waiter was attentive to all the details: Â he began by making sure we got our order in before the kitchen closed. Â I ordered the Not so Simple salad and was very happy. Â Just as we were leaving the chef sent out some bites of this heavenly chocolate dessert fresh out of the oven. Â We left feeling glad we'd found the Five Eleven.
Review Source:Brought my sis and her bf here for dinner recently. The food was wonderful and the service was even better. Â We had their "land, sea, and air" app (bison, scallop, and duck), the pork sliders, sweet potato fries, rock shrimp tacos, and the chocolate ganache cake. Â All were great! Â Would definitely go back. Â Nice wine and beer list, as well.
Review Source:With honored guests from out of town we took a chance on 511 being that it was our first visit.  We started with oysters two ways - grilled and cold and cocktails.  The lemon drop was perfection - not too sweet or artificial.  But those oysters - the sauces were amazing.  We were off to a great start.  Salad - spinach and arugula, blackberries, perfect  bacon, a touch of creamy cheese and perfectly lightly dressed.  The ingredients sang and tasted better than I could have imagined.  Entrees - interesting assortment.  DH had a fried chicken plate with mashed potatoes.  The chicken was a hit, crispy and moist, the potatoes with a little gravy perfectly seasoned.  The only slight miss was the limp bock choy on the side - probably the only item not devoured on the table that night.  I had a special - clams with pasta in a tomato garlic sauce.  Memorable and delicious.  Guests had the chicken "wallet" - an unusual description for an otherwise delicious chicken with mozzarella, spinach in a marsala sauce.  Oh my!  One fish dish that was beautiful over black rice in a stunning sauce.  Oh, oh, did I mention the fresh baked rolls?  Heaven.  Little parkerhouse type melt in your mouth bundles of joy were my favorite in the basket.  So why not stop there, lets have desserts!  Other than our designated driver We're a little loopy at this point after a bottle of wine but I had a lemon parfait with berries and a crumble.  Intensely lemon and yummy.  There was a dessert wine flight floating around the table at this point - nice touch.  DH had a berry crisp that he was not eager to share and there was a chocolate cake of some sort with a drippy ganache but I was too into my lemon heaven to partake in anything else.  511 is top notch and to me belies the more hipster bar like decor.  Its such a great restaurant that I wonder why they decided to make another bar next to Pearl instead of going full on comfortable  restaurant with such fantastic fare.  511 stands with 301 in my book, at least from this first visit.  Can't wait to return.
Review Source:Went there on Arts Alive night to have drinks and appetizers for my birthday celebration. Kenny was our waiter, he was great. It was busy but we were in no hurry. We came in kind of late so we got the 'late night menu'. The fried green bean had a great little kick to them and I love sweet potato fries so those were gone quickly. The chicken wings were small for the price and everyone but me liked the Thai Pizza. I felt it was too much lettuce on top of the pizza and it got soggy quickly. Hence the 4 stars. The drinks came out in good time considering how busy the whole place was and they were good. The band was amazing, people danced a little, including me, and it was a great time. I was told that it was the last time the band would ever play, which is a bummer. I will be back and enjoy myself greatly!
Review Source:Just got back from dinner and we were VERY impressed! Â We now have another favorite restaurant in Eureka. Â Definitely giving Brick and Fire some worthy competition. Someone in the kitchen definitely knows what they are doing. Â The scallop appetizer was cooked to perfection (the first time in a long time we could say that). Â We had the hanger steak and Moroccan spiced pork for the main course and both were excellent. Â The vegetables were firm and tasty, not overdone as too often happens. Â The creme brulee, done with duck eggs was to die for, as well as the chocolate cake with house-made espresso ice cream. Â Our waiter, Kenny, was knowledgeable, professional and attentive. Â We will definitely be back.
Review Source:511 is a great place for their food but not so much for their drinks. Food: I liked their braised pork tenderloin dish, it was really good with pearl couscous and grilled vegetables. I liked what my bf ordered too: it was Scallops with purple rice and some tomato base sauce. It was grilled perfectly and was flavorful.
Drinks: We were not a fan of their drinks..The first time I went there I got their cocktail called Snow White..the rosemary was overwhelming the flavors.. I did not taste the grapefruit at all. It was too bitter for me. I wasn't very happy with their other citrusy drinks as well. They were strong, but it was hard to drink..If you don't care about the flavors and you just want to get a full buzz after one drink then their drinks would do that. I just like it if I could taste the drink esp if Im paying a premium price for the drink :) I do like their espresso martini though. I've had better, but theirs was decent.
The service was great. Our waiter was very helpful, knowledgeable and he attended to all our orders without mistake. We were a group of 10 so I highly appreciate his full attention to our group. Overall, this is a great place but I won't be buying drinks from there.
Delicious Tapas type of restaurant. We tried about 10 things from the menu...no complaints. All of the dishes were tasty and attractively presented. Flavors were matched wonderfully. Â Service was top notch. The waiter was extremely well versed in the menu and wine list and offered a great Italian wine suggestion. Its a little spendy but well worth it for a special occasion. We went on a Tuesday and it was full...better get reservations if you want to eat here. Brick and Fire is still better in my book but has a challenger in Five Eleven.
Review Source:Great food, great wine list, great service. Â My only complaint is it is a bit echo-ey, so if you have loud talkers (yes, I'm a Seinfeld fan), and you are trying to have an intimate conversation, it can be a tad difficult. Â (I'm afraid the younger generation is permanently hearing-impaired, and none can speak below a a dull roar!) Â My husband and I had a great dinner here, though. Â The menu is imaginative and well-prepared, and the addition of tapas plates is a real plus for those of us with smaller appetites. Â The service was impeccable; things were there when you needed them without your being aware they were delivered to you. Â The background jazz by Rachael Price was a perfect accompaniment. Â We will definitely be coming back.
Review Source:I thought the atmosphere of the restaurant was very cool and jazzy. The menu is very exciting--however I have not tried everything.
I ate a fried chicken special that came with mashed potatoes and greens..i guess I thought it went a little over edge being fusion. the greens were very sour that I couldn't hide my facial expressions...i was hoping for traditional southern chicken and greens.. and I also ordered a duck appetizer and I was hoping for it to be more Asian style like the skin seared a little with fat..and plumpness..
Pretty pretty pretty goooood. Â Im always surprised when a new place opens in this particular area and the food is actually good. Â Pork belly with apples was great, the scallop good but was a touch uninspired, but the spicy fried green beans were transcendent. Â I was disappointed with the pizzas and flat breads, the combinations were smart and fun but i thought the crust in both cases to be generic. Its the same chef as the previous restaurant in that location, which i assure you is a good thing. Lots of similar menu items. Â The new swanky light changing bar is ok but unneeded, they have the same atmosphere next door. Â One thing waiters, even though its clearly in the spirit of being welcoming and generally friendly, its not good to kneel and put your armpits on the table while taking an order. Â The staff was definitely welcoming and friendly. Will return if they keep the pork belly on the menu, and of course no armpits on the table.
Review Source:Had no idea what to expect walking in...tried approx 4-5 appetizers, a couple main dishes and the Thai pizza. All of the food was amazing, fresh, and new ideas! Cocktails were tasty, something for everyone, wine list is spectacular! Can't wait to bring my friends to 511. Seriously, best dining experience I've had in Eureka in a long time. Thank you 511!
Review Source:They've only been open for a month so a few kinks to work out. Overall it was nice. Good drinks and a nice selection of Tequilas.
The spicy fried green beans were advertized as "lightly fried", while it was a nice batter, I wouldn't call it light and the spicy felt like cheyenne in the breading, a bit of heat without much flavor. The dipping sauce had too much lemon. The beans were nice, still crisp, and not bad. The shrimp taco's weren't good....because of the shrimp. I'm really not sure what they did to them, but they weren't fresh and had virtually no flavor. The pork sliders were oddly wet, yet the meat was dry....they weren't too bad, but I would get them again. Beet salad was good, although it was more of a salad with beets, than a beet salad.
The stand out was the special flatbread of the night...really can't remember all that was on it, but when I go back I'm getting more flatbreads....really good.
Overall a nice place although the interior is a little cold, it's nice to have somewhere new to go in this area.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! Â
First, the look: The decor is modern and the insides are clean. Â Very similar styling to The Pearl which I believe is owned and operated by the same proprietor. Â There is a young, trendy, upscale vibe. Â A much needed addition to the area. Â Your shoes won't stick to the floor and you won't be afraid to sit in the chair for fear of catching scabies.
Second, the food and menu:  The menu has lots and lots of options. There is something for everyone and any size of appetite.  There are wood fired pizzas, salads, small plates,  large plates and desserts.  I had a hard time deciding whether I wanted to try a bunch of small plates to share, or whether to go for one large plate.  It all sounded delicious.  However, after hearing the specials I choose to go with the dinner, instead of the small plates.  For dinner I had the special which was trout stuffed with figs and chevre.  It was absolutely delicious.  It wasn't your traditional pan fried trout w/ a boring baked potato and side of generic vege as you often find in this area.  There was a modern twist which I find refreshing.  For an appetizer my husband and I split the calamari.  This calamari, by far is the best calamari in town.  The batter was light and there was no hint of fishiness to the squid.  My mouth salivates thinking about the hot crispiness of this app.  My husband ordered some sort of steak.  It was prepared properly with a nice sear, however it wasn't anything special.  It  was a bit bland and dry. Â
Third, the service:  The place was fairly crowded and being that it has only been open a few weeks, the waitstaff  was well-equipped, pleasant, and polite.  My water glass was never left empty and we never felt rushed nor unattended.
Overall, I will definitely be back.  The menu has a lot of  items I'd like to try and after the overall "good" experience I can't wait to give it another go.
