Great service here and completely empty on Tuesday nights so sit back, relax, and enjoy the music. The service is really friendly and down-to-earth. they regularly give me happy hour discounts or sometimes even their employee discounts. A few times our food orders have taken a long time and we were given free drinks or free appetizers to make up for the wait. and of course the 100 ounces of beer for under $30 is a reason to go in itself.
Review Source:Came here with my friend for some food and drinks and let me tell you right now, NOT to get the food here. For one thing, if you're at the bar, you can clearly see a microwave, and from where i was sitting, you can see the non refrigerated sour cream, cheese, salsa, and another bag that looked like it needed to be refrigerated. Â These items were in a plastic container over some kitchen cleaner solutions just sitting out in the open. Ummm yeah, i told my friend we are NOT getting food here lol unless we want stomach problems in the AM. Haha to confirm, we also asked the bartender if they have a kitchen in the back and he said no. Â
Anyway, aside from the microwaved food, we just got drinks which were pretty bad. Â It was also happy hour till 6p with i think 25% off drinks? i got their lava flow which is stirred and not blended which was actually pretty good and refreshing, i also tried their chi chi chi which was like a lava flow sans the strawberry but way too coconutty for me and my friend described it as something else that cant be mentioned hahaha ;). Â My friend on the other hand got the mango margarita and the bartender couldnt even find the salt for her rim lol...totally unorganized and stuff everywhere. Â Overall, drinks were ok and the bartender was ok and at least checked up on us. Â But yeah, fair warning, def do not get food here!
A scene from HAWAII FIVE 0
Scene takes place in Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. McGarrett and Danno enter from screen left investigating a suspect
McGarrett: Danno where is that guy going
Danno: Not sure but looks like he is in a hurry
McGarrett: (yelling at guy) Hey stop! Where are you going
(Guy starts running and McGarrett and Danno runs after him. They chase him up the stairs to the second floor near the Food Court. McGarrett tackles him and pins him down right in front of a bar called Five-O Bar & Lounge)
McGarrett: Why are you running?
Guy: I wanted to make sure I get a 60 oz tower before happy hour ends for $20. Everything from 12-6pm is 25% off with Happy Hour pupus. Plus I get validated parking!
Danno: Wow you know how much I LOVE food from Hawaii.
McGarrett: Alright settled lets call Kono and Chin Ho and tell them to come over
(Beautiful waitress comes by and approaches McGarrett and Danno)
Waitress: Hello boys would you want me to save a table for you in front of our many Flat Screen TVs, overlooking the lanai or near our stage for local entertainment?
Danno: Those tables look great and let's get started on drinks and food
McGarrett: Book em Danno!
Came to Five-O Bar & Lounge to watch our friend's band play (Backwards Shaka).
It's a decent bar located n the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Â Nicely decorated, beers a bit pricey, and they also have a small menu of pupus which is decently priced. Â There's validated parking, $3. Â It's a chill place.
Had my first draft tower today. $20 for a 60oz tower of beer. You can choose from any of the beers on tap, so it wasn't a bad deal for 60oz of Primo. The draft beers on their own weren't bad either. 4-6 bucks depending on the beer. Not sure about well/mix drink prices.
Bartender was super friendly. Atmosphere was nice, had sports on TV behind the bar, and the sound wasn't super loud so can still hold a conversation.
OH! And the best part of this place: You're allowed to bring outside food in from the restaurants in the surrounding food court.
Reason for 4 stars is that the appetizer we got was great, but portion-wise not too great for the $7 price tag (although this isn't bad for a place in the middle of waiks). We had the crackers and dip. Came with a modest amount of crackers, and 4 different dips (hummus, spinach, seafood spread, and... artichoke, I think?). Dips were great, but we were hoping for more crackers.
Not really a fan of this place. Overpriced drinks and the worst pupus ever....they're in the food court, but they have no kitchen, so it's just like hummus and crackers and other boring, boring no-need-to-cook kine stuff I could buy for much less at the ABC store downstairs. If you go here for drinks, eat at one of the places in the food court first.
Review Source:The atmosphere is very chill! Â
Oh, and probably one of the only places where you can get a draft tower at your table. Â Its a big tube filled with beer and it has a spout for you to pour your own beer. Â Back in the day when Jackies Kitchen (Jackie Chans restaurant/bar) was open, you could get a 96 ounce tower....this one is smaller, but it'll do the job!
Im not exactly sure of the last time i was there, but at the time, you could purchase your food in the food court and eat your meal inside of Five-0. Â
They have a great bar staff that knows what theyre doing! Â Tell Seth I said HI!
This is a great bar to drop into if you are looking for a chill spot in Waikiki. Â They have the beer tower in both 60 oz and 100 oz. Â The 100 oz filled 6 plastic cups. Â We had a 100oz tower and 1 speciality drink for $31 (after 15% off with yelp checkin). Â I was here on Saturday night and they also had some live music which was pretty awesome! Â It kinda reminded me of the Mai Tai bar in Ala Moana but A LOT less crowded. I also was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the bathrooms.
Review Source:The only bar you'll find in the royal hawaiian shopping center. Â The sign does say you can bring in outside food, but hey also serve a light, and i mean LIGHT pupu menu. Â Drinks are pretty small and strong, but expensive and by expensive i mean 8.50 for a small drink. Â One of those, can i have some alcohol with my ice type.
Review Source:Stopped by here for a drink before dinner at Suntory. Â The price for my Goose tonic was $9 which is freakin outrageous!!!
The 4 star rating is for the super friendly and hot bartendress. Â Forgot her name but she is from the Big Island.... Â Jolly and uber friendly which enhances my experience there....
Will try to stop again for their happy hour from 12pm - 6pm (?) Â Not sure of the exact times but it does span over lunch....
We ended up here by accident, but it was a lovely one. Â We were actually on our way to somewhere else, but we heard some really good reggae music going on. Â I thought, that's weird? Â It doesn't sound too touristy or anything. Â It was a Friday night, still a little early, so we decided to follow our ears and it led us here. Â What a surprise to see that CeaseFire was playing! Â Craziness! Â Sweet deal was that there was no cover charge, and for checking in we got 15 percent off our bill-yes all we ordered were alcoholic beverages. Â That is awesome! Â The staff was super friendly. Â I'm definitely going to have my eye out on this place, especially to see who else will be playing.
One downfall was that it is a small place and we had 7 people with us. Â It looked like there were a lot of seats open, but the waiter came by and told us at two different areas that these sections were reserved..bummer! Â At least we found a small area outside and most of the time was spent dancing and chee-hooing!
What a cute little joint they have set up in a mall. Directly located across from Kate Spade and steps from Salvatore Ferragamo you can get your dose of shopping in and top it off w/ a round of Mai tais. Too sweet!
After coming back from our Pearl Harbor tour, my husband was in search of a bar airing the 49ers game. We remember passing by Five-O during one of our shopping expeditions. We both figured: "Golden. Let's cut the where should we go and just go there".
Though usually a red wine drinker, I had a couple glasses of the Pinot grigio and for six bucks---whhhhaaaaaa???!---it was yums.
There was only one staffer available who sat us, wait upon us and still ran to the bar to tend to all others sitting on the barstools. Mind you, we never felt the service was lacking. She checked on us periodically, made sure we were better than a-ok and let us know if we would like to bring in outside food that she didn't mind (food court sat right behind us). Sweet.
I didn't get her name but thanks for making our experience an awesome one.
Now, enough reading and go check it out!
Staff was friendly, Prices are so great that you will come again. It is located in the food court area. They have a live reggae band playing depending on the day you go and the best part is they allow you to bring additional food from other places while you enjoy your beer or wine! Great for groups and friends bar.
Review Source:I was never a fan of Kalua pig. Â I am now thanks to Five-O Bar & Lounge. Â Sad to see how much the night life in Waikiki has changed from when I lived there. Â Everyone told me it was due to the broke-conomy. Â Was nice to see they spiffy up'd the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Â I was taking in the upgrade when I heard a nice smoothe voice singing and I thought hey! Â Finally I found a local hangout like before. Â Went up the escalator and stumbled upon this place. Â I liked the signage sparked my curiosity. Â I was a bit confused of the layout. Â This lounge bar is at the end of a food court. Â I remember the days there was no food court w/no flat screens. Â Well the smoothe voice was an old friend singing his heart out and was great to see him still entertaining. Â The sound system was excellent. Â The Lanai is also a great place to people watch next to a fire outside and still have a great view of the big dance floor or stage. Â Took a spot at the bar and the gal was on it! We were chatting up a storm like we knew eachother. She suggested the Kalua sliders. Â It came quick and packed w/chips. Â I couldn't finish all of it. Â First bite I was a bit hesitant coz I thought ehh don't really like kalua coz its always dry. Â Not these little buggahs! Â 1st bite my eyes bugged out and I was raving already. Â The buns were so fresh hot toasty and soft like my favorite pillow! The meat was soooo full of flavor and not dry at all. Â Holy baby Jesus!!! Â Five-O Bar & Lounge got the best ever kalua pig sliders I've ever had in Hawaii and Mainland. Â The big boss in his nice suit was all over checking on people, mingling with the patrons, bussing tables, helping Christian (Yeah boy! Ho'onua still rock'n!) w/ the sound system. Â He was very involved. Â I made sure I told him I appreciated the great customer service and the food was excellent. Â This place was full of aloha for sure. Â All other kalua slider places... Â Dano needs to book'm. Â Nah-nah! Â Go check'm out if you're in Waiks!
Review Source:The chardonnay is delicious. Â Usually bartenders say the drinks are good and when you order it, it's completely the opposite. Â The house wine they serve was nicely chilled and went down smoothly. Â If you're not into wine, they'll bring the entire beer dispenser right to your table for you to enjoy. Â The mini dispenser definitely draws attention, but your group will be happy to refill their own beer mugs without having to flag down the servers. Â I didn't get a chance to try their mixed drinks, but our guests felt the pour was a little light. Â
The relaxed atmosphere offered soft cushioned lounge seating and totally sets the mood for a wind down after a long week of work. Â Or if you prefer bar seating, but a lady like me prefers the sink in, soft lounge seating.
The bartenders are so down to earth. Â With their aloha shirt, nothing flashy at all, they are quite personable and worthy of the tip. Â They recommended a couple of light appetizers and we had to pass after a full meal. Â The prices are reasonable and I would recommend this place especially if you're hanging around Waikiki. Â
There are a variety of people that roam around here. Â There's the tourist just walking around looking for a chill spot and then there's us. Â I'm dressed up with full make up and hosting family from out of town. Â It's nice to see a mixed crowd, but this Saturday night was pretty dead. Â I'm with my husband and great company, so I'm having a good time regardless of the crowd.
This little bar in the Royal Hawaiian center is not really a place you want to be to mingle around and meet new people. Â I came here on a Saturday night and it was not as packed as most bars are on that night. Â That doesn't mean its bad though.. unless you're by yourself. Â This place has a similar vibe to mai tais but without the crowd. Â If you take the time to look around, you can actually appreciate the designs all over. Â
If you're out shopping in the area and want a few drinks, this spot is very convenient. Â Convenient like, having a few drinks before going to the shooting range upstairs, kind of convenient. Â the list can go on. haha.
But yeah, maybe because it was slow, but our servers were very attentive and friendly so that's a plus in my book. Â Drinks were so-so. Â I haven't tried their specialty, but they do have these huge beer dispensers that you can order for 20 bucks. Â Similar like ordering a pitcher, but way cooler.
This place is terrible and they did not even offer me a drink without the bartender yelling at me. I heard from some people that my review is not liked on here and that I am not to come back in your bar. Well instead of you not welcoming me in your bar you should have a talk with your bartender who would not give me a menu to order a drink and refused to serve me water. This is just bad business you guys are new and shouldn't be treating local kamaina like this neither should you guys be treating waikiki tourists like this. What you should instead do is invite me back to have a better experience and actually have one of your drinks and not be disgusted by your customer service and leave. You guys will fail as a business if you don't better your customer service. I will tell people not to come here and I know many people in Hawaii I am a local girl from Hawaii and I will tell everyone I know what your manager/bartender did to me and I know a lot of powerful people in Hawaii. I am def telling My uncle Danny not to go to your bar- you know the singer.
Oh well your loss I guess your bartender didn't know who he was yelling at. Maybe he just is a racist who doesn't like haole people! Whoever the owner is needs to have a conversation with that guy on how to treat people with respect and customer service.
I'm pretty sure most of the bars in Waikiki are dead at 11. Night life is pretty sad, and Five-O is not much different. HOWEVER, when you compare it to other places in the area, it is classy and clean. The drinks are well made with a good dose of alcohol and the seating is comfortable. Music is not so loud that you can't have a conversation, and there is a great outdoor area when the night is cool. The bar tender honored my Yelp check-in coupon, even though he was not familiar with it. Thanks!
Review Source:More of a layover than a destination. Â I've been there when I'm waiting out a rain shower or watching a performance in the Royal Grove from the Five-O patio. Â They have recently added pupus but I haven't tried them. Â Drink prices are about average for Waikiki. Â The beer Tower is a decent value and conversation starter.
Review Source:It was pretty dead for a Saturday night. It's a chill place where you can choose to sit at a table, the bar or in their lounge chairs. I ordered a ginger cosmo (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/BjsX22dGuQTph0LnIsB98Q?select=RM56JPSavIhyamZd6JFCuQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) with cranberry, vodka and ginger for around $8.50. It was pretty good! I saw on their menu that they have  happy hour from 3-6pm, even on Saturdays!
Review Source:Wasnt bad. Came here towards closing around 11 just for a few drinks. Waitress was extremely cute but never got her name tho... Fail! Ordered the five-oh! It wasn't bad just a tad too gingery for me but still pretty good.
My friend ordered a chi chi chi. Taste like a piña colada almost. Sweet and tastey. It's a pretty chill place. They had sofas and an outdoor area to sit. Nice stage and dance floor. Great atmosphere. Great prices. No complaints. On 4 stars though because they changed the music from nce island jamz to top 40 artist type music. Kind of killed the mood. But other than that great place.
Stopped by in the middle of the afternoon looking for some beer and shade. Â Around 3ish p.m., the place was next to empty. Â Setting was fine though you're basically right in the food court and there's no view to speak of; that said, if you're looking for cheap beers this is the place to go. Â Think one round was less than $10 which is pretty cheap.
Only thing memorable about this place was that when I scooted off to the bathroom, some random older white dude tried to hit on my husband. Â HAHAHA. Â I should've told him that if he wanted a man encounter he could hit up the streets of Waikiki later in the evening and find himself a hapa that could be his date for the right price.
stopped by here because we were early for our reservation and i'm really glad we did! Â at around 7:30 on a saturday night, the place was pretty empty. Â the ambiance and set-up def give the same vibe as mai-tai bar at ala moana which i also really enjoy. Â unfortunately, it was a pretty warm night and the outdoor venue is not conducive to air-conditioning. Â oh well. Â
the drinks i had were excellent. Â i think the first one i tried was called "lavalava flowflow" and as you can guess, it was a spin on a traditional lava flow - rum (i think?) with creamy coconut milk with muddled strawberry and banana. Â it was SUCH a good drink. Â i think i'd go back just for that. Â :) Â the 2nd drink i had was the mango margarita which was a unique experience but i don't know if i'd order it again. Â it had chilis in it so it definitely packed a BITE. Â i couldn't even finish the whole thing because my mouth was literally ON FIRE. Â i definitely tolerate spicy foods well but if i ordered that again, i'd have to ask for the mild version haha. Â
drink prices were average (esp for waikiki... $7-9) but were tasty and seemed strong, so totally worth it! Â this is def a fun/chill place to do drinks in waikiki and i hope i get to come back again soon! Â :D
Definitely going to come back to Five-O! Â Everything about this place was a plus!
Loved the different areas you could choose to schmooze in. Â There's an outside balcony with a decent view of the bottom floor of the Royal Hawaiian but an even greater view looking in at the lounge. Â Getting to watch drunk people dance is always a bonus. Â The other two places you could sit at were the bar, which looked pretty inviting, and the couches that looked comfy.
Our waitress was spot on. Â She answered all of our questions and made sure that we capitalized on happy hour that ran until 6 pm.
Let me just say that I LOVE THE DRINKS HERE. Â They're fairly priced and GENEROUS. Â Had a few shots of Goose that were definitely getting me feeling loose (in the most classy way possible). Â They. Â Were. Â Big. Â Also had the LavaLava's which were delish and another drink that was blue and had the word Overdose (?) in it.
Unfortunately they don't have pupus yet so they allow outside food in which works because the food court is right outside the lounge.
I love that it's located in the Royal Hawaiian because it makes parking a breeze. Â With validation parking is free for the first hour and $1 every hour after that.
If you're in Waikiki, hit this place up!
First things first, my companion told me that it is happy hour all day for the month of August. Â All I know is that from 2-5pm it's happy hour.
Moving on, this is definitely a nice chill spot in crazy Waikiki. Â The prices are reasonable, not cheap, but not overly pricey. Â Some interesting twist on classic Hawaii drinks. Â I had a "Danno," chose it cause there was Jack Daniels in it. Â Kinda a screwdriver, but made with Whiskey instead of vodka. Â I was not impressed with the Lavalava Flow Flow, get a regular lava flow if you're looking for the sweet blended drink. Â The ginger cosmo was also a crowd favorite.
Right now they don't serve pupus, but you can buy food at the food court and bring into the bar. Â Unsure if they're planning on having food or not, but I think it would be a major plus for them to serve food.
There's indoor and outdoor seating; it's much more spacious than it seems from the outside. Â There's also a spot for live music, but there was none while I was there. Â The music they were playing was nice chill local music.
A nice place to try before everyone starts hitting up the place, you can be one of those people who say, "I remember when..."
was hoping to see the 5-0 cast here on opening night, but the stars were the waitstaff. Â the waitresses were pretty attentive (and pretty too) in checking up on us to make sure we're good on drinks and picking up the empty glasses when done. Â my friends and i missed the happy hour by 3 minutes :(. Â but still ordered their signature drinks. Â i didn't care for the Hawaii Five-O drink as much, but loved the Ono Hawaii - rum with coconut milk and coconut shavings, yum! Â i can totally get drunk off a couple of those and not know it cause it tastes so sweetly good! Â there's a cool lanai to chill outside after work and get a great view of the free entertainment below. Â the only drawback is it's right next to the restroom so you see everyone walking in and out of there, and part of the view is the mall food court :/.
Review Source:I really like this place. It feels like a mini Mai Tai Bar like the one at Ala Moana.
They have a great Happy Hour and it seems like most of the prices are fairly cheap. I was able to get a Mai Tai for only $5 and it was comparable to the same kind you would get at Duke's!
The bar is not huge. It is a decent size, maybe enough room for about 20 people. The lounge area is a good size. There are several areas to sit in sofas and chairs. There is also an outdoor area with tables and chairs overlooking Coconut Grove and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
They will soon start serving pupu items. I believe you can bring in some outside food items from the Food Court.
There is a stage and they will start having live bands playing and maybe DJ's. There is some room for dancing next to the stage.
The day I visited, all the staff was friendly and really fun. They were attentive and one of the bartenders was even showing tricks to me and some other guys at the bar. The staff was all Locals.
I believe this place will be a new Hot Spot! It is kinda small so it will probably be crowded.
