Came to Coconuts for dinner and ended up eating at G&B because the wait was too long and sooo glad I did! To start out the service is very on point...very attentive and friendly.  My fiancé and I had the conch chowder, steamers, the sea salted shrimp (amazing!) and the stone crabs. The crabs were extremely fresh and so tasty! We also got 2 deserts to share...the key lime pie and the Cheescake...to die for! So glad we stumbled across this place, no doubt we will return!
Review Source:I loved this restaurant. Â Connects to Coconuts and they share staff and restrooms. Â The Oyster Bar is open seating, and they use the best team service I have ever experienced. Â Basically, there is really no server assigned to your table, but everybody checks on you.....and often. Â Need another beer? Ask anyone. Â I can't say enough about the excellent service. Â
Oysters are fresh and well presented, with cocktail sauce and extra horseradish. Â I enjoyed a small plate of grilled scallops over a great corn salad. Â We had the stuffed shrimp and catch of the day for entrees. Â Both were excellent. Â The stuffed shrimp has a nice New Orleans flavor.
It's casual.....but don't let that keep you away. Â The food and service are spectacular.
Yes I am a fan of this restaurant and will definitely return. It's a small restaurant, but those are my favorite kind! They have high top tables and a nice bar seating. Our waitress  was spotty but what made up for it was that there was always a manager keeping an eye out for anybody that needed something and he came to the rescue. For that reason alone I will return. My Asian ribs I really wouldn't consider Asian flavor tasting at all. It kind of through me off. My girlfriend got a chicken dish which I enjoyed more than the ribs. It's a fun atmosphere that's open and airy. I will come back again and bring family and friends!
Review Source:All round a great experience. The ceviche was excellent and always changing for the freshest fish. I also had the calamari steak. It was cooked perfectly and had a nice light tomato salsa over top that complimented the fish nicely and didn't overpower it. The three or four bartenders were very helpful and personable. I'm sure I'll hit the place once more before heading home.
Review Source:Highly recommended place to eat. We had Randy serve us at the bar, and his enthusiasm and knowledge of the menu made my girlfriend and I stay for dinner. Â The menu is tapas style with very exotic type of combinations. Â My suggestion would be to order several small plates and share them to see what all the place has to offer. Â Ask for Randy to serve you- you will not be let down- great bartender/ server and in my opinion a real asset to the restaurant. Â Try this place out!
Review Source:We went to G & B Oyster Bar last Friday for Happy Hour. It was alright - definitely a good selection of Oysters. We did 3 of each from along the east coast (12 altogether) and they were yummy.
We had a great server - Ask for Casey if you go.
Only complaint is that the view is the parking lot even though you are right on the water. They installed 3 televisions which are a live cam of the intracoastal right around the corner - better than nothing I suppose.
Prices were fairly reasonable - we had the dozen oysters, 2 glasses of wine, a beer and a vodka tonic and it was $45. Not too shabby!
Seemed like a mix of locals and tourists. Definitely not a Spring Break tourist trap which was nice.
You kind of have to valet your car because the parking in minimal. Unless you park across the street in the beach parking which is usually scarce.
I would go back solely based on the fact that it's an oyster bar and those are few and far in between.
This oyster bar is new as of January 2012. I ate here Feb 8, 2012.
I sat at the raw bar and chatted with Mark behind the counter. He and others working there demonstrated a passion for food. Big plus.
Their raw bar offered clams on the half shell and 7 different types of oysters. I love the simple presentation of mignonette sauce (minced shallot and vinegar) and lemon wedges. This is just how I like to eat my oysters.
I saw about six dishes I could have ordered next. The menu has a singular focus on shellfish with a few fin fish offerings. Right in my wheelhouse!
Clams casino, steamed mussels, fried oyster poor boy, salmon lox cured in house, Lobster green goddess salad -- even a Lobster corn dog fried on a stick in a beer batter.
I went with the grilled sea scallops with fire roasted corn salad per my servers direction. I enjoyed the two good sized scallops that were firm and clean tasting.
I was offered pecan pie or key lime pie for dessert. Good to very good on the pecan pie. One of the servers kidded me for a better rating on the pecan pie.
This oyster bar is connected to the Coconuts restaurant and serviced by the same kitchen.
I'll be back since there are another 5 dishes to work on.

This place just opened a few weeks ago. SO far, so good! We met the owner Elliot and he recommend some great apps! We had Alligator Ribs, Frog Legs, Seared Scallops, Tuna Poke, & Grilled oysters. It was all super fresh and wonderful. My boyfriend went to town on everything!
Its has kind of an industrial feel to it which is kind of cool. They have 2 big TVs that are connected that are hooked up to cameras which show the marina. I think if they threw up some Ocean Planet on those TVS it would a) look really cool and b) be a little more entertaining. Also, those chairs arent very comfortable either. We had them at one of my restaurants here in Newport, and man, they are SMALL.
Other than that, I think this place has great potential.
And contrary to other reports, it does in fact have its OWN kitchen and does not share a kitchen w Coconuts.
Check it out!
G & G Oyster Bar has to have one of the most knowledgeable, friendly and professional wait staffs around. It is just too bad that I found their services compromised by food lacking in comparison to the superiority of their service.
It's a nice location, but your view will be that of a parking lot, so not much to look at.
The arrangement isn't bad but the aluminum seats are not exactly the most comfortable, however, the establishment is open, airy, spotlessly clean and otherwise well appointed.
As for the food, I really love the menu. It has some of the most unique, fun, exciting offerings I've every come across in the area such as Oysters Rockefeller, Oysters on the Half Shell, Crispy Oysters, Florida Stone Crab, both clam and conch chowder, Muffaletta, a Philly Lobster Cheese Steak, Lobster Corn Dogs, Lobster Green Goddess Salad, Braised Octopus, Frog Legs (listed as "Hoppers" on the menu) and Alligator Ribs.
Unfortunately, I didn't find the preparation of several of their items exactly up to snuff. I couldn't even taste the Pernod, which flavor is difficult not to detect. Then, what happened to the traditional crumbed bacon, parsley, crumbed bread and green onion? I know the menu doesn't mention those things, but this preparation falls so far short of what Jules Alciatore of Antoine's intended when creating this culinary masterpiece it is hardly deserving of the name "Rockefeller." As for the "Hoppers" (frog legs), they weren't bad, fried as is typical, but overall unworthy of praise.
As G & B adjoins Coconuts, shares the same address and phone number, I'd be inclined to walk a step or two further into Coconuts for a better view as well as better quality food.
It is with great sadness that I write this review as G&B's sister restaurant, Coconuts, is one of my favorite restaurants+ in FTL. Â Â
Six of us recently ate at G&B Oyster Bar. Â To be fair, I believe it was opening weekend.
The decor is pleasing with glass tiles and wainscoting throughout - think something you would see at an upscale fish taco restaurant in California. Â The restaurant opens up to Coconuts and the (great) view of the intercoastal. Â Like Coconuts, the chairs are extremely uncomfortable cheap aluminum. Â If anyone from Coconuts is reading this PLEASE PURCHASE MORE EXPENSIVE CHAIRS. Â Also like Coconuts, the mixed drinks (mojitos / margaritas) and Sangria are excellent. Â
Now let's discuss the negatives with the food at G&B's. Â
The sardines (strongly recommended by the waitress) were beyond disgusting. Â The smell still resonates in my nose. Â Rancid. Â
We ordered three of every oyster on the menu. Â Although I like oysters, I am far from a connoisseur. Â That being said, something was just "off" as half our order remained untouched. Â Extremely salty/briny (and fishy). Â I'm not sure if salty/briny is a sign of freshness or not, but the oysters were borderline inedible, even covered in horseradish and cocktail sauce.
The "salty shrimp" was the best thing we ordered - but nothing special. Â
The lobster philly cheese steak (also strongly recommended by the waitress) was just average (although it did contain a lot of lobster). Â Like the other previously mentioned items, something was just "off". Â
The alligator ribs were tasty; however, two of the four individuals who ate the ribs were sick the next day. Â To be clear, when I mean sick - I mean SICK. Â Â The sickness could have been from any number of items we ordered, however.
Hopefully G&B makes the necessary changes as it could be a great spot for locals and tourists alike. Â As Cocounts regulars know, the crab cake BLT, pulled pork sandwich, and scoobies can't be beat! Â Maybe G&B should simplify their menu to mirror Coconuts and stop pushing sardines and alligator ribs..
