Lulu's Bait Shack

Lulu's is the one place I must visit on every trip to Ft Lauderdale.  Great prices, great food, great location.  Ahi Tuna tacos are pretty awesome here, as is the Alligator bites and shrimp Po Boy.  Cute and friendly bartenders.  Perfect place if you need a lunch break while at the beach.  What more could you ask for?

The location is great and it's just across the street from the beach. The service is slow, as others have commented. Since they brag about their cajun food, I tried the shrimp gumbo and crawfish etoufee. Both were only OK.  When I reported to the server that I could only find one crawfish in the entire bowl of etoufee she told me they chop them up very small. Interesting, but not at all what you'd get in Lousiana or most other places. The sauce for both (roux) was dark but they obviously skimp on adding other ingredients to "complement" the rice. Gumbos should be lively and will of flavor and ingredients; this fell very short of the standard. It's not likely I'll go back.
