I'm disappointed how the place has gone down hill. Â When it first opened up the service was great and the food was excellent. Â Now all of that has gone down hill. Â The food quality has kind of languished and some of the staff there is just plain mean. Â Out with friends drinking a beer, the server by accidentally spills the beer, it was only half full- not a problem- things happen-. The server brings a new beer back...that was half full? Â Really? Â how cheap and petty is that? Â Â Little things like that leave a poor taste. Â Used to alternate between GLN house and Grandpa's. Â I'll stick with Grandpas...
Review Source:I was excited to finally go here after passing by it for years. I looked at the menu online, which seemed interesting, and the beer selection good.
I like IPA's and hoppy beers, and I asked the server about one on draught. She said it was good, I ordered it, and was shocked when it came. It was in a (approx) 4 ounce glass. I thought it was a taste. My wife saw the shock in my eyes. The server said nothing, as if this was normal. It was barely 2 sips. I called her over and she said the bartender does that for beers with higher alcohol content. Are we adults here? And why am I being charged $8 for 2 sips? To not ruin the evening, which this could, I let it be and drank from my silly little glass. I was more "upset" about the server not saying anything beforehand than the actual beer. I hated that she made me seem like the crazy one to my wife. "You know, we only give you 4 ounces of that stuff, to protect you from yourself" would have helped. I only order 2 beers on our nights out, and to have this happen is not good. I didn't have enough beer to go with my food.
We then got the "Hummus, which is not really Hummus" appetizer. It is a 7 layer bean salad (no chick peas at all), like the $2 a pound stuff you get at the Jewel. With some ordinary chips, which couldn't handle the heavy dip.
The Cuban Sandwich was very good. The "Dip" sandwich was OK, ordinary.
Physically, the place is nice with a good parking situation. In the summer it seems to have some nice al fresco seating. But my wife will never suggest we go back because she thinks I hated the experience, and maybe I did.
I was attracted to this restaurant based on their selection of whiskey. Â It turns out that they have a very extensive list of scotches, ryes, Irish whiskey, and bourbons in stock (so no teaser in the advertising). Â The food is above average. Â Remember that this is more of a bar so don't compare the food to a four or five star restaurant. Â There were four of us in our party and we were all satisfied. Â The waiter was polite, made sure we had what we ordered and that we were satisfied without being overbearing. Â I will definitely return in the future.
