Very creative, fresh, and tasty food. I was a regular at Grill Creations for a very long time while I worked in the area. They treated me very well and knew me by name. They could even predict what I was going to order from time to time!
The food is very tasty and the staff is friendly and warm. I wish there was a Grill Creations a bit closer to home!
My girlfriend and I frequently return time and time again to this great restaraunt. The food is always fresh and the service is friendly as they come. The owner and his daughter always makes it a point to come over and asks how everything is. We love that!!! Healthy quick always a great place to go prices are fair and I recommend it to anyone in the area...
Review Source:Great place, from the people to the food. Â The staff is really warm and engaging, they really care about what they are doing. Â I'm not sure if you would consider this Mexican or more South American, they seem to straddle a bit of both.
We went for dinner and it was quite good. Â The salsa that comes with the chips is more like a tomato sauce, which was not great (I prefer spicy). Â We had a steak tostada to start which was nice and fresh with a puffy shell. Â I go the chicken enchiladas with green sauce, which were delicious. Â They make their sauce with tomatillos, chiles, and pumpkin seeds, so it had great flavor. Â The beans were good, though I've had better rice. Â My wife had the churrasco asado, and it was fantastic. Â A thicker strip steak, it was charred on the outside and perfectly medium rare on the inside. Â Not just good asado, it was a great steak. Â
We had a great meal, and certainly will be back for more
Grill Creations is good for a quick, healthy, inexpensive lunch or dinner. I got a veggie burrito and my friends got the baked chimichangas and we all really enjoyed our meals. Unfortunately the authenticity of the mexican food is underwhelming and lacks many of the basic flavors from mexican cuisine (can I get a little cumin up in here??). So it's best to not go in expecting something fresh off the boat.
Also, the decor is plain and open. It looks like your typical new restaurant--sterile and perfectly organized. But I'm sure they'll break it in as time progresses. This place gets 4 stars because the management is so sweet. They give out coupons like nobody's business too, so if you want some just ask. They've only been open a year and a half so support em!
Owners are incredibly friendly and seem to have a great relationship with their customers. They seemed to know every single person that came in - whether it be two cops, a family or business men.
The inside is open and comfortable. Simple, nothing fancy, but very clean. You can order to-go or sit down with waitress service. They bring chips and salsa to you to start. We ordered the guacamole and chips as an appetizer. I thought it was too much money for what it was. Although the chips are apparently usually fresh and made to order, these were from the bag. I appreciate that the guacamole was fresh but the quantity and store-bought chips was not worth the $8 price tag.
I had their fresh lemonade which was delicious. We tried the Chicken Tostadas and the Steak Burrito and split it. The portions are very generous. The chicken tostada was full of a generous heap of flavorful, tender chicken atop a crispy tortilla, lettuce and avocado. The steak burrito was gigantic, the steak was delicious - as was the rice, beans, cheese and sour cream. The best part was that the burrito was crispy on the outside due to pressing it in a panini grill. The side salad accompanying it was small, but fresh and tasty.
You can choose between 3 sauces for every dish - sweet, medium or spicy. I don't care for really spicy food, and the medium had the perfect amount of kick to it without being overwhelming.
My friend loved her chimichanga - which they seem to be the most famous for. The chef and owner came by to make sure everything was great, and it was!
Very fresh food and many options for vegetarians. I had a terrific salad with black beans and avocados. I usually ask for ingredients to make my own dressings at restaurants but they had this amazing oil/vinegar/lime dressing. And the service is EXCELLENT. The owners are the nicest people and I will definitely come back.
Review Source:Came for lunch during the week. Â The food is set up behind a glass counter so you can order for takeout. Â We were greeted immediately and told to sit anywhere. Â It was a little cold in the restaurant (cold front just moved in) so we left our jackets on which was a little annoying. Â Friendly server and chef/owner? came over multiple times to see how everything was and did we need anything. Â To me it was a little too friendly, Â but better than being ignored I guess. Â It almost seemed a little desperate. Â We were the only ones in the whole place for lunch on a monday. Â Food was tasty and nicely presented. Â I had the baked Shrimp Chimichanga and it was filling and large but only 3 shrimp in the whole thing for 12.75. Â Mostly rice and beans inside. Â The burrito arrived with a small side salad which would have been nice with the chimichanga. Â I do think this place fills a niche for moderate Mexican food in the area but needs to market itself better. Â The sign says Tacos and salads to go. Â If I hadn't read the reviews here, I would have thought it was takeout only and the restaurant does have a nice space to dine in. Â
Also it's BYO.
Just went here last night and already looking forward to return. Â So that's a good sign, right?
We started with the guacamole which resembled the guacamole we had in Mexico where crema was added so it had a creamier texture, as opposed to chunky. Â I do wish it was spicier but I'm sure you could ask them to throw some chopped jalapenos in there to heat it up.
For my main course I chose the Red Sea entree - salmon, scallops and shrimp with tomato sauce over rice. Â The portion was plentiful, more than enough for me to eat. Â The seafood was cooked well and the sauce was tasty. Â My husband went with the Chipotle Chicken chimichanga which was absolutely delicious. Â The chicken was cooked well and the salsa, though it was medium, had a definite kick to it. Â Also, both dishes came out piping hot which is great. Â I hate nothing more than lukewarm food.
I also have to give a shout-out to the staff here. Â Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and the owner even came over to see how our meal was. Â This is a place that definitely cares about its customers and I can't wait to go back.
Overall excellent. Great FRESH ingredients. Also very friendly. The chef/owner came to the table to make sure everything was good and we were pleased. He also gave our 5-yr old an extra side of black beans when he gobbled up the first set.
Location warning:
Unless they've fixed it, Yelp shows this location in Cranford, but the actual location is in Garwood (correct street address, just wrong town).
This place has become a staple in my food rotation
You are always pleasantly greeted by the friendly staff when you walk in, and they are more than happy to serve you up whatever you like.
You can't go wrong with the chimichangas-they are delicious.
The best part is the large portions..and while it will fill you up it doesn't leave you with that gross feeling. Â Everything is fresh, healthy and high-quality
Would recommend to anyone
Decided to give this place a try based on yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did. The food was really good, and the portions were pretty large and you get your money's worth. The place is super clean, and I'm surprised that it wasn't packed. It's also BYOB, and the staff is super nice. Will be going back many many times.
Review Source:i love grill creations. the food is great and the owners are wonderful people. we went there one day spur of the moment a year ago, after we were done doing laundry (its down the street) and have been hooked ever since. the portion sizes are nice, especially the grandmas chicken tostadas which i could see feeding two (i couldnt finish mine not for lack of trying). the grilled veggie wrap is really good too, crispy fresh roasted veggies and fresh mozzarella. thursday night my fiancee got the grill creation salad with grilled chicken. not only was the portion HUGE, but it was delicious. the prices for entrees and such are beyond a bargain too. i love the idea of healtier mexican food as not much is fried on the menu, if at all. the owner and his wife are, as i said such wonderful warm friendly people too. they really appriciate their customers and it shows. im happy we found this gem of a restaurant.
Review Source:This place serves solid good food. The interior looks fantastic. The service is really good & the lady was really nice.
I ordered a chicken chimichanga and it was excellent. The tortilla chips they provided were too salty though. The servers were overly eager to serve me, since I was the only one there at that time (on my lunch break, 3:30pm on a Tuesday).
What I wanna know is: why isn't this place more poppin? The reason is because from the outside, you'll never know what's inside. There's no signage indicating that it's a worthwhile place to eat at. It's like a pretty girl who wears baggy clothing all the time. Also, they have three large cheap looking white signs in the front that say 'Sandwiches, Burritos, Salads' or something of that nature so I was expecting it to be a generic place with mediocre food, which it was not. In fact, the only reason I went in was on a whim; I was planning to eat somewhere else & I thought to myself, I'll give this place a shot.
I ain't no Gordon Ramsey but I did watch a few episodes of 'Kitchen Nightmares'. Ain't nothing wrong in the kitchen here. They just need more signage to let people know they're there. Maybe a name change too. Maybe then people will be more willing to come here instead of Chipotle & other chain establishments.
I was shocked to see this restaurant hadn't yet received a review on Yelp. Â Its high quality food and top notch service are deserving to bring this establishment out of obscurity.
Grill Creations offers both eat-in and take-out options and its moderately upscale Mexican cuisine fits either style. Â You'll gain a warm greeting by the owner upon your entrance and will continue to receive attentive service throughout your visit.
I have been extremely impressed with all the food served including tacos, burritos, tostadas, and soups (I think they're homemade, but who knows). Â All the food is prepped in front of you and its obvious that all the ingredients are very fresh.
I've been here several times and plan to continue coming back. Â It's a great asset to the neighborhood and I hope more people discover it!
