This spot was recommended by my godsister who knows that I love a sushi buffet.  Arrived round 9:15, which is definitely not a good idea if you want to get fresh maki rolls.  The ones that were left at the bar by the time I got there were kind of dry.  I liked the service, which is what made up for the lack of a decent sushi selection.  In terms of sashimi, all there was was some whiting and tuna left.  Disappointing.  I might have to come back during lunch to make another determination.  BTW, the overall selection of the rest of the buffet was okay.  There were a lot of typical americanized Asian dishes, like mushroom chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and of course, pizza. The salad bar was the best feature, with lots of selections. Unfortunately, when I went back for a second serving of the wasabi sauce, the chef was just finishing washing his hands and had taken the utensils to serve yourself.  Disheartening.  I know it was 9:45, but geez, would it kill you to leave one serving spoon?

Came here to eat lunch with some coworkers awhile back. They recently remodeled. I've seen this place before, but never thought to stop by for lunch. It's a typical Chinese buffet. Nothing special. I think their lunch buffet is $6.99 and a drink is extra unless you order water. They do have a hibachi grill, but the food is just ok. Their selection of menu items is pretty large but the quality is so-so. Their fruit selection is pretty decent though. It's clean and cheap for a quick lunch.

One of the best looking buffets I've seen. Sushi chef, stir fry, and buffet all with excellenct presentation. Food was good, with good variety including vegetarian.  Good variety of fruits and veggies (tho you may have to steal broccoli from the peppered steak ;P )

Went for lunch, cost me $8.38 (about $13 on Sunday).

Updated review: Apparently someone from management took into consideration the complaints about this restaurant.

The food has gotten better (which was a surprise).  The quality of the food has improved and they have even added some new dishes to the buffet. At first I was hesitant to go back there but I thought it was worth the try since I haven't been there in so long. I've returned maybe 4 times this year and consistently it was pretty good. The have also added large flat screen televisions in the sitting areas. Each tv has been set to new stations like CNN or MSNBC. Just one complaint, I noticed that they "advertise" crab legs at the buffet. In truth, they are NOT on the buffet tables. You have to ask the sushi chef for them because they have them in back of the stir fry table. Plus, they are very waterlogged so I wouldn't even bother asking for them. You're better off eating the other dishes served from the buffet tables.

Strange circumstances led me to this Chinese buffet on Chicago's South Side.  Unassuming from the outside, nestled in the midst of an awkward strip mall (where else could it be?), Tasty Buffet is very large on the inside.  Look: This is a standard Chinese buffet.  It's a really big standard Chinese buffet.  With a lot of food.  In a strange area.  That being said, the place is surprisingly clean, the staff is friendly enough and clear your plates and bring out fresh food frequently, and there are a lot of options when it comes to your meal.  All of the veggie-friendly options were indeed tasty and well-prepared.  The desserts were plentiful and delicious.  They even had sushi, which was actually decently made and the rolls were large.  I really wasn't expecting much, but I was very satisfied.  It was a Sunday, so there were a lot of families from the area coming in to eat lunch, but there was enough seating here to make it feel nice and spacious.  Just so you know (because I'm sure tons of people who read this review will be visiting Tasty Buffet), you pay for the food first, right when you walk in.  I don't know how standard this is, but I had never come across it in my limited Chinese buffet experience.  I think it was around $10.75 per person, which I thought was a pretty good deal.  If you've got a big appetite and are, for some reason, in the area, I would recommend it (also because there really aren't many trustworthy-looking options around).
