Annandale and Fairfax have never been lacking in good Korean fair, though good Thai has often been hard to come by. Fans of good Thai, rejoice! In fact, fans of good, quality, and, dare I say it, gourmet food, rejoice--Imm Thai is here to answer your prayers.

I went to Imm Thai on a whim with my mother on a Tuesday night. Though slightly hard to find (the easiest way to get there is through the back door in the 236 Giant parking lot), the restaurant is truly a gem. Walking through the unassuming back door, we were met with a pristine, modern dining room, a few other guests (busy for a Tuesday, at least), a fully stocked bar, and minimalist black tables. We were seated promptly by an extremely friendly waitress, and so we perused the menu.

The menu is immense, though not overpowering. It's impenetrable in a way that makes you think, "everything seems so delicious, I need to order something new this time," and subsequently leaves you scratching your head or asking the server for advice. Eventually we settled on the duck rolls, chicken and noodles in green curry, and a classic pad thai with tofu. The duck rolls were delicious, served in a thick scallion pancake atop a bed of crispy vermicelli and a caramel-tamarind sauce (I think). Though the thick-cut pancake was a bit heavy, the duck was just right: not too fatty, yet still flavorful. My mother ordered the curry chicken, and while I only tasted the curry broth itself, I can say that broth was definitely the best I've had in Virginia, and comes close to what I expect is equally good fair in Philadelphia's finest Thai restaurants.

My pad thai was phenomenal. In NoVa, one has to be careful ordering pad thai, as certain restaurants will just slap down some orange-colored cellophane noodles, wholly lacking in flavor and texture. Imm Thai is NOT one of those restaurants. The noodles were coated in the sweet, sticky tamarind sauce, and subsequently covered in very finely chopped peanuts. The sauce itself was sweet, but not too sweet, and a delight to the tongue. Unfortunately for me, the portions were huge (and well-priced, as well), so while I failed to clean my plate, I did enjoy every minute. Perhaps one thing to work on, my last piece of tofu was a little dry compared to the rest. You may want to consider adding chicken or shrimp, rather than tofu (though all things considered the fried tofu was still fantastic, it just suffered from being left as I ate slowly).

For dessert we split the green tea creme brulee, which was honestly the best creme brulee I've ever eaten. I'm not a huge fan of custard, and I'll usually just skim the sugar crust off the top. This time I devoured it. The custard is mild and semi-sweet, just like the best matcha-flavor you can find, and the sugar crust came out warm, obviously burned to order. Though we didn't order alcoholic drinks (happy hour is only from 4-7), both of us got a Thai iced coffee. Though similar to its Vietnamese counterpart, I feel like the whole drink was sweeter, and the coffee of a slightly finer blend; this could also be my imagination.

Our waitress was wonderful, cheery, and always prompt whenever it seemed we needed something. Truly she capped the amazing experience. Head out to Imm Thai Cuisine soon. Sooner than soon. Like, literally, you should be there now, why aren't you?

I didn't go 5 stars only because there wasn't much creativity, all the dishes that I had were the basic standards.

That said, it was all tremendous. It is so nice to have a good option for Thai food a little further out in the suburbs. I ordered just salads and appetizer to have with my Singha beers. It was like being in Bangkok, where getting lots of variety street food to have with beer is common. The mussels were amazing and Tom Kha was also good. I made the mistake of ordering the Som Tam papaya salad as only medium spicy, but it was still great and the grilled shrimp were perfect.

I love Korean food, but sometimes it just seems so heavy. My dinner at Imm was perfect and I will be back.

My boyfriend and I were craving Thai food while we were in the Annandale area. We checked out the reviews on Yelp and decided to give this place a try. We ordered the Duck Rolls for an appetizer, the Duck and Egg Noodle dish, and Drunken Noodles for our entrees.

Duck Rolls - Amazing! So flavorful and yummy, probably the best duck rolls I have ever had thus so far.

Duck and Egg Noodle - Not bad, very flavorful but a bit on the salty side. I enjoyed the Chinese broccoli that accompanied the noodle dish.

Drunken Noodle - Good but I have had better. I love me some drunken noodle so my standards for drunken noodle dishes are pretty high.

Overall, it was a decent experience here at Imm Thai Cuisine. Our server was very nice and the restaurant decor is cute and modern. I might have to come back here just to order the mouth watering Duck Rolls and probably try a different entree.

Decided to get some take out food because I work nearby. The location of this restaurant may seem a little sketchy but the restaurant itself has a very clean and modern feel to it. Thai iced tea was refreshing although the size of the container and the amount of the drink looked awfully unproportional (half-full). I got drunken noodles for my coworker and pad thai for myself which we both enjoyed. I'll give it another try when I get the chance to.

My least favorite Thai place in the area. I am a big yelper and checked their yelp page before I decided to go here for lunch. Bad idea! How can you really even mess up with Thai iced tea? Their Thai iced tea portion was big but the cinnamon flavor was too strong and even the cream couldn't not balance it out. Strike 1. Ordered their "grilled beef salad" to be safe. Waited for 15-20 mins when it wasn't even busy at all. I finally got the salad, looked weird. Served on spinach. The beef looked like it was steamed not grilled. Complained about it to the waitress, then she said, "do you want to try it first?" Which wasn't so nice. Now, I tried a slice of the beef from the salad. Couldn't eat it. Thought I was eating salt coated beef that have been sitting around somewhere in their kitchen for a while. Come on. I tried a lot of Thai restaurants from West Coast to East. This was the worst. Congrats.

The pics don't lie! The food looks great and tastes yummy! as well!

Nice modern looking place in a sea of Korean joints!

Pat was a my server.....very nice as I got the Crispy Chicken with roasted chili sauce and steamed brocholi to go... $12.95.

It was delicious.....the marinade was delicious. I perused over the takeout menu and noticed plenty of interesting choices not found on reg. Thai menus....

Tangerine Duck Salad $7.95 looks great and plenty of soups and noodle dishes.

Maybe this place will become the newer version of Thai Square? :) and take off in terms of popularity?

I'll def. be back and I live in MD.....

Memorial Day was spent with mi familia and we decided to venture for a heavier taste palette in the early afternoon. After hearing about a new Thai restaurant opening a while back in one of the capitals of Asian Foods, Imm in Annandale had big shoes to fill. As usual and expected through Yelp, when we walked through a short alley to their dining area, it was an empty venue. We were the only table; therefore, you would expect service to be spectacular and cuisine to be phenomenon. Both was below par. Think about falling into a deep ocean or perhaps unawarely stepping into a huge pit hole.

My mother is a huge fan of Thai food, though she only enjoys the appetizers for their delicate plating and the bursts of flavor. She subconsciously agrees with most of my review, for I read it to her before publication. She thinks I'm being too harsh and I say she has a soft heart, which readers will later understand why. We ordered a good portion of the menu, starting with their renowned chicken satay, peking duck roll, chicken curry puff, and tofu taro hash browns. They didn't have any of the fried chicken, which should have immediately raised a light bulb. Who runs out of one of the most abundant and domesticated species in the world? Anyhow, for entrees, we opted for the "favorites", such as the drunken noodles, kao soi noodles, and chef's secret fried rice.

Fortunately, this review wasn't that difficult to write since there is only one word to perfectly describe every dish that came out. COLD. COLD. AND COLD. How is that possible? You are telling me that you are greeting your first customers with servings that are comparable to that of frozen goods. They were merely re-toasted or reheated, not even refried, SMDH. You know how I know? Because when you're a penny-saving college student and you buy hot pockets that need to be in the oven for the directed 28 minutes and you can only wait the 15 before you grab it to quench the hunger, the interior of the sauce/pepperoni/stuffing is still cold. I am an expert in this area. The similarity in both episodes is that the time wasn't long enough to allow the heat to dissipate through the external crust. Every bite of the appetizers reminded me of my sad eating habits back in college when I was too lazy to assemble meals suitable for a human being and allowed my poor colon to be the victim of that result.

The waitress who served us was not very pleasant either and didn't seem to like us asking a lot of questions. When we asked her about recommendations, she was quick to beat us to the bush and addressed us that everyone is different. No shiet, sherlock. And that is not all, if you refer to my pictures, the fried rice is burnt. Apparently, the chef's secret was raisins, because that was all I could identify as "special." The dehydrated grapes didn't fit well with the selections of meat and added to the bitterness of the dish. We ended up with a plateful of unfinished grain.

The best part of the meal was my order: the Thai Iced Tea. You see, if you mess up your country's most recognized drink, I cannot see how your establishment plans to exist. However, when you manage to screw up everything else, it ain't that hard for it to happen.

This contemporary Thai restaurant is a great addition to a town filled with Korean restaurants. We've eaten in a few times as well as taken food to go, and it has never disappointed.

The menu is interesting and varied. They have some northern Thai dishes as well as a  selection of Thai noodle soups called big bowl noodle soups. The shrimp Tom Yum Noodle soup was perfect on a cold night. They typically run specials and feature Thai "street foods."  The curry doesn't beat Thai Square (although it's good) but the duck rolls, the whole fish entree, and the wonton soup were tasty. Seriously, the wonton soup was probably the best I've ever had.

I'd say the negatives are that the portions are a tad smaller than most Thai restaurants, and some things are slightly overpriced. But the food is quite good so this is quickly becoming our go-to Thai restaurant in our neighborhood. It's never very crowded, so I hope it lasts!

FYI: They are still waiting on their liquor license the last time I went in March.

I think this is the only Thai place in Annandale but it is almost always empty at dinner time. It's got nice modern decor, the service is very friendly and the food here is actually pretty good (just not the panang curry). So I don't understand why more people don't come here. That being said, the "dead" atmosphere kinda ruins it for me personally because I like the crowds. But if you live around here and want good thai with decent prices, you've got a place to call your own =)

I went here and ordered the curry vegetable puffs, which were so good.  I also ordered chicken ka-pow.  It was good but the portion size was for a toddler.  Since this was a dinner menu the portion size should have been a lot bigger.  They mad it look pretty on the plate but I was forced to order a second entree to be satisfied.  My daughter got pad thai which I didn't like but she did. It was made with the normal noodles you make it with.  They had some other kind of noodels.   So overall my meal was mixed.  I did like what I got but the size was so small

I think if they increased the meat portion sizes I would come back.  Other than that I will eat somewhere else and get double the food for the same price.

I don't usually eat Thai food but the food here is pretty good.

We got Kow-Tung-Na-Tung (rice crackers w/coconut & minced chicken dip), Tom yum noodle (spicy sour lemongrass soup. bamee poo ( Egg noodle with crab meat and roast pork), and Green tea creme brûlée. We also got the thai iced tea.

Kow-Tung-Na-Tung - sauce was good but crackers are nothing special. They remind me of Krispy Treat Crackers. I won't get this again.
    Tom yum noodle- excellent flavor
Bamee poo- Delicious!! I love this, it's a combo of chinese/thai  food. There is fish sauce in the noodles with chinese roast pork on top and then crab meat sprinkled on top. I'd ask the waitress for additional sauce. There is this 2 mini pots of sauce they give you so you can pour to your heart's content.
Green tea creme brûlée- pretty good and I don't even like green tea

The second time I came back I got the Bamee Poo again along with fried calamari and Chicken Satay.

Fried calamari - overpriced , not very good. looks like onion rings.
Chicken Satay-  overpriced, three chicken kabob things. not worth it.

Next time I come here I am getting bamee poo or tom yum noodle or maybe I will try something new. I would stay away from their appetizers.

Service is good and there's no line/wait.

The appetizers are very good here. Yummy. I've had two different curry entrees and both of them were pretty good but not amazing. I think my primary problem with the entrees is there isn't a lot of protein. I usually get chicken and there doesn't seem to be a lot of chicken compared to other Thai restaurants I've been too. That said, it's not like there's not enough protein. I'm sure it's at least a 4 oz serving. Just not as much as other Thai restaurants.

The desserts are amazing. I've gotten the tempura cheesecake twice now. It's absolutely heavenly. Amazing. To die for good. The service is very good. We will keep going back and trying new dishes. So, overall, pretty good. 4 stars.

We decided to try this place for the 1st time as our Christmas Eve dinner and agreed on deliver rather than go outside in the cold and dine in.  Our first experience was fantastic.  Super friendly, wonderful customer service...off to a great start.  Delivery comes, again amazing customer service with such a great attitude!  We started off with the veggie curry puffs, which had a great flavor but my 9 year old found 2 HAIRS in his - one short & one long.  OK, we can move on & get past that, we just don't finish the puffs.  On to the entrees.  We ordered a crispy whole founder that had no taste other than grease.  We chose the 3 spice sauce because it was that or a sweet/sour sauce and we wanted some spice.  The sauce had almost no kick and was very sweet.  A bit of a disappointment.  BUT...the real kicker, my 9 year old ordered the pad Thai, which had vermicelli sized noodles and hardly any flavor, and he found ANOTHER LONG HAIR!!!  That is 3 hairs in 3 dishes...GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Needless to say we all lost our appetites and our money and our Christmas Eve dinner was not very festive.  I sure hope they are trained in sanitation, which includes having your hair pulled back & secured.  Unfortunately, we will NOT be back and will not recommend!  :/

Wow, this place is pretty good.  My girlfriend and I split the chicken curry puff, the roasted duck curry, and the shrimps Tom yum noodle soup.  Everything was very flavorful.  Definitely worth checking out!

Stopped in for carry out one cold winter night and was very happy with the results. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and - most importantly - tasty food! I decided to go with the standard Panang Curry as a control, while my husband got a little more adventurous with the E-Saan Steak. Both dishes were pleasantly spicy and flavorful -- no bland Thai here! Will definitely return.

I've been here approx. 3 times now. Once to eat in and the other 2 times to carry out.  I'm obsessed with their fried tofu. Great  taste, price and portion for your money's worth

simple and contemporary Thai restaurant with an authentic taste!  We ate Thai boat noodle soup. It was delicious and super good!  The papaya salad is also good.  The most memorable one is the green tea cream brûlée.  The texture was smooth and the taste was superb!

Pretty good!  But to be sure I will be back tomorrow... and probably the day after that too.

Good duck rolls and decent crispy duck entrees.  Be sure to check out "the other" menu.  Oh, and the deep fried cheesecake is a must to make sure you don't go back to work after.

Having to travel to so many places, I can certainly say that this another must-try Thai place. I had a Thai boat house noodle soup and it was very delicious with good portion. Their food is considered authentic, good price, delicious, and good portion. The owners came out and greeted me. They seem to really care about what they do/give to customers. That's what I really like about here -- their great attitude. The staff was very friendly and the vibe was great. Overall, this was a great experience and I would definitely come back again!

Tested out Imm for the first time after noticing it opened a couple of weeks ago. Overall a very nice experience, great food, and only a few rough edges.

The menu starts predictably, with the usual Thai favorites: drunken noodle, pad thai, panang curry, etc.  There's also a separate "Chef's Specialty" list that are a bit more upscale.  We tried the "Imm's Chicken Curry Puff" appetizer at our server's recommendation and were impressed; they're worth trying for the accompanying pickled vegetables alone.  The spring rolls were the usual, but well-executed.

Portions were a bit smaller than other places, but the quality of the ingredients seemed higher, with an emphasis on fresh vegetables.

Service was very good.  The only odd part about the whole experience was the very loud, thumping music; initially we thought it was from an adjacent or upstairs business, but it seemed to be coming out of the stereo. Seemed like an odd choice and not exactly relaxing.   The decor inside is sleek and modern, despite not looking like much from the street.

Overall, a nice addition to "downtown" Annandale; looking forward to going back.
