The "All You Can Eat" concept is a great one and that is what drew me to Oegadgib. Â I unreservedly love Korean BBQ and I can pack away a lot of delicious grilled and marinated bulgogi, kalbi and spicy pork when given the chance. Â And, in terms of quantity of food Oegadgib certainly delivers - huge plates of meats, abundant sides that are constantly refilled, salads, rice bowls, and soon dubu all arrive at once to crowd the table. Â But the large portions is not enough to make up for the lower quality of the actual BBQ.
For starters, the majority of the meat you are given for the All You Can Eat deal is not marinated in anything - it is thin strips of beef that you would put in a shabu shabu pot, not on a grill. Â The "bulgogi" makes up a small portion of the plate and it is definitely better than the flavorless steak, but there is not very much of it and the cuts are weird and small (it looks like steak scraps instead of nice pieces of meat). Â Same with the chopped up marinated chicken. Â No kalbi. Â No spicy pork. Â And there is not even onions or garlic you can grill along with the meat to make it more flavorful. Â The amount of gochujang I had to use on everything was practically sinful. The grills themselves are not the nice table inserts you see at most Korean BBQ places, but rather propped up flat hot plates, which splatter oil at whoever sits closest to them. Â And the restaurant itself is crowded with long waits (although we skipped the line with a reservation).
So overall a disappointment. Still, three stars because: its a really good deal and you will definitely leave very full, service was very friendly and accommodating, the sides (especially the kimchee) were pretty great and so were the pajun, and with enough gochujang I will happily eat any meat, even if it is not tasty on its own.
I love the food here. Its a decently priced and you can eat as much as you would like! Â The only downfall is I prefer how "honey pigs" meat taste better. But here its more of a bang for a buck type of deal. Its definitely a hole in the wall, and sort of small so finding parking lot is sort difficult sometimes especially if its busy. workers are nice.
