I'd give this place 3.5 stars if that was an option. I went here for a birthday brunch last weekend. A few people in our party were about 15 minutes late and they restaurant still sat us, which I thought was great. Our waitress, though fine, had a scowl on her face the entire time she was serving us. The food was good -- some portions were huge. The atmosphere was cute and perfect for a girl's day. I'd be happy going here again, but there are other places I'd try first, if I was in charge of planning.
Review Source:Jane's is a great dinner date restaurant. Â The food is top notch and so is the atmosphere. Â If you like people watching, try to snag the elevated window seats. Â I had the scallops and risotto and was impressed. Â My date had the sirloin sandwich and was blown away. Â
We got some flack for using a groupon and being there on BYOB night. Â BYOB isn't a special to me; it's an allowance. Â It is their policy that you can't mix groupons and specials.
We've had two very good experiences here - we came for brunch (packed, expect to wait) and loved our steak and eggs with Chimichurri sauce.
We also came recently for dinner and it was very good. Â We started with the pear salad, which had bleu cheese and pecans and I had the seared black grouper. Â I loved the sauce (sake-ginger soy sauce) on the fish - very tasty. Â
Great neighborhood restaurant with really good comfort food. Â They are on groupon quite often so make sure you check that out for a deal.
50/365.
I went here on Valentine's Day and the ambiance was pretty romantic and it was decorated pretty cute. Â No problems with service and the food was average. Â I would have given them three stars but they would not honor my Groupon for some reason. Â There were no mention of dates blocked on the Groupon, just a note that you could not use it in combination with specials. Â As there was no special pricing or prix fixe for Valentine's Day, it didn't make much sense that I was not allowed to redeem it. Â I hope I can get my money back for the Groupon as I would rather not go back to Jane's.
Review Source:Such an adorable restaurant! There are lots of good restaurants near the Damen/Cortland area and Jane's is our first choice! The food is phenomenal and the staff is friendly. Make sure to get a reservation if you plan on dining on the weekend nights it can get pretty busy. I've called the day of to get a reservation and had no issues.
Review Source:I'd weigh 1000 pounds if I lived anywhere near this place. Went for lunch and had the best quinoa mushroom burger  (with bacon) I've ever tasted. It may very well be the best burger--meat or veggie--I've had in a long while (and, obviously, I'm not a vegetarian, but the description sounded too good to pass up and it didn't disappoint). It's a cute spot, but I imagine it's hella crowded during the brunch rush.  I sampled some of my friends' dishes--omelets and eggs benedict--which were also great, but nowhere as wonderful as my burger. Seriously. It's fantastic.
Review Source:We decided to check out Janes on a cold, wet, rainy morning. This is a quaint restaurant that reminded me of a San Francisco style restaurant. I had chimichurri (spelling...) steak and eggs, my wife had hash and eggs. Everything was flawless! Service was top notch, good delicious, delivery was impeccable. Â Price was very reasonable. After seeing the dinner menu, I want to go back for more. Nearly 20 years here, can't believe I missed it. Very nice place.
Review Source:Took my mother here on a Saturday during brunch hours. A friend suggested I go here so I checked it out.
We ordered scones, Chimichurri steak, and I can't remember the last dish. The food was awesome. One of those, no talking at the table cause the food more important. The comfort food they serve had a unique taste, and we loved it. I don't know many comfort food restaurants, so thats probably why I enjoyed it so much.
I would give the restaurant 4-5 stars except the servers weren't too friendly. As other reviews state, everyone is entitled to a bad day, that's understandable. However, when I am with my mother, I don't want an attitude while taking my order. It wasn't so much the "I don't really give a fuck" tone she had, more like I felt her rolling her eyes at everything I said (she didn't actually roll them). I don't doubt that she is a great person outside of work, but as I said, when I am with my mother I just want to have a respectful tone at least.
The restaurant is small, very intimate, not good for parties. It's great for a date, or just to get some one on one time with someone. I love the comfort food here and would love to order takeout at some point. The scones weren't all that great, but the main dishes were amazing. If you can't think of a restaurant, try this one out
Jane's is one of my favorite brunch spots. A little bit off the beaten path, but is never disappoints. The honey butter they put out with the bread before a meal is delicious, and they have some of the best bloody marys in the city. If you have a Friday off, the Friday bottomless brunch should not be missed.
Review Source:I don't know if my tastes have changed or if this place has gone downhill, but I am baffled by my prior review from 2009.
We had a groupon, thank goodness, because two entrees and two drinks was NOT worth the $80 that it came to. First of all this place is uber cramped. We showed up exactly at 6:45, when our reservations was for, and had to wait. There were tons of people waiting and the hostess cleared off a table by the window. A server approached us and said that she "had no plans" for that table so we could request it. What?!?! With that many people waiting she had no plans? Um...I don't even know what to say.
We were finally seated and it was FREEZING. Like the heat was barely on freezing. Gross. Our non enthusiastic waitress came and took our drink order. Seven years later, we got our drinks. I was just praying that my wine would warm me up.
I ordered the scallops and my bf ordered the steak. The steak was delicious but slightly under seasoned. My scallops were cooked well but they sat on a bed of flavorless goo, ie the curry risotto. I could barely eat it. Our server came over, half assing it and asked if the food was ok. She left before we could respond. At that point I just wanted it to be over so we could leave and drink better beer elsewhere with our friends.
As my bf said, this is a "one and done" kind of place. We won't be back.
My wife and I went to Jane's for the first time a couple weekends ago. Â We really wanted to like this place a lot... but in the end, I can only say that it was "just OK." Â Here are the good and the bad:
GOOD
* the atmosphere is fun, cozy and charming. Â I felt very good walking into the place. Â It was dark and soothing, and had great art on the wall. Â Of course, the brick wall and the wood vaulted ceiling added warmth to the space. Â This was my favorite part of the experience. Â I might even come back sometime just for this (and to see if my first experience was an outlier).
* The Carrot Cake may have been the best carrot cake I have had. Â It was amazing.
* I thought the prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were good.
* The Soup of the Day was pretty good.
BAD
* The Goat Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast was meh. Â It didn't taste bad, it just didn't have much taste at all. Â
* My Wife's pork chop was just OK, and the mashed sweet potatoes is sat upon was actually pretty terrible. Â Seems like they messed that up somehow, because I don't think that can possibly be how they normally serve.
* Â The service was a little disappointing. Â Our server didn't seem all that interested in anything that night. Â
* Wine list was pretty weak, and was lacking wines that paired well with several of their dishes.
This is my favorite place to dine. I've tried everything on their menu and have never had a bad experience. If any one has had a bad experience with the staff in their defense I can say anyone has bad days, no restaurant is perfect! Â
No identity crisis here, the chef likes to try new things and every season the menu is changed a few plates, not all.
They have a little bit of everything for everyone's taste. From brunch to dinner I can guarantee they have something you'll become addicted to. I HIGHLY recommend this place and  would give it a second chance if you had a bad experience.
Family in town - gotta find somewhere to eat. Fast forward to 9 o' clock this morning. Plans to go to Big Jones for some southern cookin' flopped as there were no seats open until 1pm. So we ended up at Jane's.
The place sounded familiar..and once I stepped inside, it looked familiar, too. All of the home-y decor and pretty chandeliers, I realized I had been here about 2.5 years ago for a Bridesmaid brunch. Ok, that doesn't seem like it says much for the restaurant if I didn't remember that I had been there before, but just wait.
I ordered the funniest sounding thing on the menu - chimichurri (hehehe) steak and eggs. And I'm pretty sure that it was the best thing on the menu, as well. I felt all eyes on my dish as it was placed in front of me. Stay away from my steak, bro. You could have a piece. But that's all. The medium cooked steak sat perfectly on top of 2 over easy eggs.. which was gently placed on top of a bed of potatoes and was surrounded by a sea of chimichurri sauce. Ok, maybe not a sea, but you get the picture.
The waitresses were very nice, and although there was some miscommunication as to whether or not we ordered coffee (yes we did, with waitress number 1. why is she standing behind the bar and not bringing me my caffeine? who are you, number 2?), it was a nice experience. Just bring me my coffee as soon as you get my order and I'll consider giving you another star :)
I've heard great things about Jane's, but I was completely disappointed and underwhelmed.
We sat at a table right by the window and it felt very secluded and private. From a decor and date place perspective, it is a solid 4 stars.
The menu was American with an Asian flare. I think it had an identity crisis. We ordered:
Rare tuna - the quality of tuna was not very good as it was stringy. I didn't understand if it was an egg roll or a burrito. The tuna, carrots, and cabbage were wrapped in a tortilla that was pan seared? I expected it to be crunchy on the outside, but it ended up with just a very soft texture and the taste was very one note as well.
Pear salad - It's hard to mess up salad as nothing is cooked and it is just ingredients tossed together. I could have used less dressing, but it was one of the better items of the night.
Seared Black Grouper - I love grouper and haven't had a grouper dish I didn't like until tonight. The fish was over cooked and the ginger topping was overwhelming. You couldn't taste the fish at all. The water chestnuts and bok choy was not a compliment to the dish.
Seared Sea Scallop - The curry risotto under the scallop had a bitter after taste. I think it is from the overuse of curry powder in the rice. The scallops weren't over cooked, but they weren't also extremely fresh either. I would expect a crunchy exterior as it was pan seared, but it had a very soft texture.
After this experience, I will not be returning.
Let's start with the decor- phenomenal. The two times I've been here I've sat in the east dining room. The all white decor with splashes of black and stunning chandeliers make for a pretty elegant way to spend a Sunday morning.
Now on to the food- pretty darn good! I've had the breakfast burrito which was super yummy especially the avocado mousse. I'm a freak when it comes to avocado so toss it on any dish and I'm in heaven. I've also had the blueberry pancakes. These are decent, but not as good as the burrito. A little bland, but very berry AKA they didn't skimp on the blueberries, which tends to be my complaint when you order fruit in pancakes. Not the case at Jane's.
If you're looking for a fun atmosphere for brunch, this is a great spot with good food. Overall, a good pick for Sunday mornings!
We went for dinner. Considering all the rave reviews we found this a very average experience all around. Server was disinterested, implied in a cynical tone straight up that if we had a Groupon we needed to tell her now, we didn't, tone changed up a notch but still average. Not impressed. Food was diner level.
Review Source:I've been meaning to write my review for Jane's for about  2 weeks now but every time I start, I get sidetracked in a fantasy starring their goat cheese stuffed chicken.
I've been meaning to try this place as I've seen several a Groupon featuring it and it's on my way to the Metra.  Finally bought the Groupon and went with three friends on a Sunday night.  It was PACKED!  The front room has absolutely no standing room.  We also avoided a huge mishap as our hostess  was about to seat a party of four when my friends and I came in and told them we had reservations - she had mistakenly assumed that the other party of four was us!  Yikes.  However, our table wasn't ready so we had to awkwardly stand around hovering over tables and the bar because there's absolutely no room.
When it was ready, she took us to the super secret second room which was much quieter and decorated very girlie like. Â We had a great time chatting and we all loved our food. Â As I mentioned, the goat cheese stuffed chicken was amazing - it came with an orzo type pasta. Â I ate the whole thing and have been dying to go back since. Â Make sure to make reservations because it's super busy here at Jane's!
Really enjoy this place, it is one of my favorite brunch places in the neighborhood that I go to when I don't want to deal with a long wait.
Fresh ingredients, very good eggs Benedict, and the steak and eggs is pretty solid.
For dinner, I usually get the halibut in ginger sauce, which is very well prepared.
One thing to note is that they have a main dining room, where the kitchen is, and an expanded dining room in the building next door that can be reserved for larger parties. Â If you are there on a Weekend morning you are likely to run into at least two baby showers. I personally prefer the ambiance in the main dining room, which is more vibrant.
Meh. Â This is right around the corner from us, but I don't see any reason we'd go back. Â We had a groupon, and we were really excited to go on BYOB night...until we got there and were told you can't you the groupon in conjunction with any other special. Â So we stuck our bottle under the table and opted not to drink at all. Â We ended up with Jane's Cesar salad - standard, the New York Strip sandwich - average, and the spicy angel hair pasta - tasty and generous portion, but nothing to write home about.
Review Source:I went to Jane's with a Groupon and left relatively unimpressed. I started with the corn chowder which was decent, but much too thin to be a chowder. The vegetables were all well cooked and seasoned, but there was nothing special about it.
I then had the Jane's burrito which was quite tasty, but came out luke warm and the accompanying sauces were cold. I get what they were trying to accomplish, but it didn't add to the dish. My wife has the Diver scallops with green curry risotto. It sounded good, but what came out was a plateful of under seasoned rice with some slightly blanched vegetables. The scallops were well cooked, but they didn't remove the muscle before serving, and it really took away from the only highlight of the dish. That said:
DO NOT ORDER THE RISOTTO
There have been a bunch of other reviews that say the same thing, but I really feel the need to emphasis how bad it is regardless of how delicious it sounds.
The only thing that saves Jane's as the Ambiance. The place is gorgeous and each of their two rooms has their own distinctive personality.
In the end, I would certainly not return. The food is incredibly overpriced for what you get. Out waitress was actually kind of a hipster who I think secretly hates people and parking was ridiculously hard to find (go down a few blocks and park in the residential).
My roommate and I went to Jane's because we figured we wouldn't have to wait to eat brunch on a Saturday morning in the Bucktown/Wicker Park area like many of the other places at six corners. The food was pretty good but if you just want basic eggs and bacon go somewhere else. This is a more upscale brunch. I had the frittata with what the server said was bacon but I believe it was "fa-con" (fake bacon) which was good but not the same. I mean come on everyone loves BACON! The service was great and we would come here again for sure.
Review Source:I came here with a groupon in hand. Luckily, I knew what I was in for having read some of the other reviews.
We made 7pm reservations for a Tuesday. When we arrived, the place was packed! We waited a few minutes for our table, nothing major, and I was really looking forward to a fun dinner date. That is not what happened.
First of all, the place is cramped. Like, your neighbor is 6 inches from you cramped. I heard the entire conversation the people were having next to me. Apparently, one of the women was just on a vacation, and now she's super busy at work.
Oddly, it wasn't the close-ness of others that bothered me. It was the inability to move around without bumping into at least two people. There is one long, super skinny aisle to walk through the restaurant, so only one person can get by at a time. While we were waiting for our table, I had to move about 5 times in 3 minutes so people could get around me. And not for anything, but given the incredibly tight space, you'd think the servers would be used to navigating around people. One particular server yelled out "Excuse me!" in an annoyed tone as we waited by the door for our table to be ready. Where did he want us to go?
The ambiance itself is nice. The place has glowing candles everywhere, and definitely a cool, casual vibe. 5 stars for the atmosphere.
On to the food. We started with the tuna roll. I had high hopes from other reviews, but this dish fell short for me. Where was the flavor? The roll was mostly the wrap, and I didn't think there was that much tuna in it.
For dinner, I had the beet and fennel salad with a side of mashed potatoes. I know, the two don't mix, but I really wanted to try the mashed potatoes. I will admit, they were tasty - smooth, creamy, and fluffy, the way mashed potatoes should be. The salad was made with field greens and had a lovely vinaigrette over it. It tasted fresh, but I mean, it was a salad, which shouldn't be too difficult of a dish to make.
My husband had the scallops and risotto. The scallops were perfectly cooked, not rubbery at all, but the risotto was a big disappointment. The curry flavor didn't come out very strong, and the risotto itself didn't seem thick enough. It's like it was watered down, and not very dense. I don't know, but when I think of risotto, I think of a filling, creamy, and thick pasta dish. This risotto was not that.
As for the service, it was spotty. My water glass sat empty sometimes, we weren't given bread and had to ask for it, we weren't check on very often, and we weren't told the specials. Coincidentally, Tuesdays (the day we went) was half price wine night. watch out if you have a groupon though. They don't allow you to combine ANY deals. So, if you have a groupon, you would be paying full price for your bottle of wine. For what it's worth, I thought the wine selection was pretty good, but if you're more the beer time, I think you had about 5 options with one of them being Amstel Light.
This was not even close to the worst dining experience I've had, but nothing about this place made me want to come back on my own. Sure, I'd come if someone else set up a dinner there, but it would not be my first choice. It's such a shame, I was really looking forward to dinner, and the atmosphere was so cute.
Either I waited too long to try this place out or I just don't get it. I used to live about five doors down from here from '00 - '03 and never went. I think I missed its heyday.
I don't know if there's more to it. We were seated in the front area looking at the bar and kitchen. The tables are super close which is fine if you're in NYC but folks around here don't like that. There were two couples that moved to the bar when they saw were they were going to be seated. The second couple that moved got an eye roll from the hostess. We were ok with the seating but our waitress had no personality.
I got the rye manhattan which wasn't the worst I've had but not the best either. My boyfriend got the chartreuse drink which he liked. The bread and olive oil were ok but had it been warm bread then I would have been in love. We started with the tuna rolls per the positive reviews here. I couldn't tell what it was trying to be. The breading around it was odd and got soggy. The tuna was ok. Maybe if they just made it a spring roll.
My boyfriend got the burger and substituted the potatoes with asparagus. He loved it. He says sometimes they use bacon to cover a so-so burger but in this case it enhanced it. I got the scallops on curried risotto which was neither curried or risotto. They should call it three gassed up scallops on rice with celery.
So I definitely ordered wrong. Since we have another groupon I'll be back for another shot at it. I bought two because I thought for sure I was going to love it based on its reputation. But then again when a place does a lot of deals it's a sign. They asked me before they seated me if I was using a deal and on the menu it's printed that groupon users can't get the prix fixe.
Loved it! My BF and I went here last nite for dinner with a Groupon and will definitely be back. I had the veggie burger and the bf had the strip steak. Probably the best veggie burger I have EVER had. I am so bummed I left my leftovers on the table!
All of the entrees were reasonably priced and Thursday nites they have a prix-fixe menu for just $25/person - what a deal!
Would be a great place to go with girlfriends or on a date... loved everything about it!
I finally returned for dinner this past weekend and it was excellent. I love the dim lighting, with candles and exposed brick. Its such an intimate atmosphere, and the fact that the tables are right on top of one another (only downfall of the evening) as I found myself easily distracted by our dining companions next to us! Focus, Kori!
On to the food, I had the scallops, which A. were cooked perfectly and B. were paired with this awesome green curry risotto. It was creamy, but not overly heavy. I ate my entire plate. My date had that porkchop and it was huge with a whopping pile of mashed sweet potatoes underneath. He was also a member of the clean plate club.
Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, but not in a pesky way, which was nice as we leisurely drank and ate our food. I will definitely be back to Janes for either brunch or dinner, they definitely have an excellent thing going there.
Pretty good food and nice atmosphere for a date. Â Dimly lit and cozy. Â A bit on the pricey side for me without the Groupon the gf and I used. Â I tried the goat cheese stuffed chicken breast and she had the veggie burrito. Â
Gotta say she won that decision.  The burrito was surprisingly good and seasoned unlike any burrito I've ever had.  My dish was ok.  Nothing really too special.  The chicken itself wasn't super flavorful and a little dry.  With most of the entrees around  $20 and my so so experience with what sounded like the most flavorful non-vegetarian dish, I probably won't be back very soon, but it was definitely a good Groupon buy!
Oh but if you go, don't get the brownie. Â The guy at the table next to me got it and it was a tiny triangle of brownie with a lot of drizzed stuff on the plate. Â He sounded kinda sad about it when his date brought it up.
We went here for brunch this morning. It was easy to make opentable reservations a few hours ahead of time. We got seated right away in the white room. Our waitress was nice and got us a highchair for our friend's tot.
I had the spinach and feta omelet. Very flavorful and done well, I would eat this again anytime.
My husband had the Chimichurri Steak. He said it was cooked perfect and the flavor was great. I had a bite and agreed.
Our friends got the Apple and apricot pancakes and the Blueberry pancakes. Both of them enjoyed their food. Their tot got to share their pancakes and loved all of it.
We would definitely come back again.
Went here for dinner last night, I had a groupon so wanted to use it before it expired.
The bf had ice tea that tasted really fresh, we got the crab cake appetizer that had a delicious sauce and being very hungry, we cleaned that plate in a few minutes.
In terms of entrees, he got the Mustard Chicken which I liked a lot, especially the tortalini bacon stuff that came on the side, though it was a bit too salty for my taste.
I got the NY Strip Steak Sandwich and it was only OK. The steak was a little dry and I didn't think it had much flavor. Mashed potatoes and salad that came with were better than the actual sandwich.
Food was alright, I wish the other dining room was open but apparently that's just for parties. So we sat in the brick exposed side which was ok, the window seat was nice to watch the rain and the eye candy that walked by (my bf liked that part I think...).
All in all, it was nice but a bit out of the way. Probably won't be back for dinner but maybe brunch, if I get a groupon again because it was a little pricey considering the portions and ingredients used.
We decided to stop and have dinner at Jane's because of the vegetarian options offered.
Winners: Â Hummus Plate, Crab Cakes, Pan Seared Scallops, Jane's Burrito, Dirty Martini, Â Cosmopolitan
Losers: Â Â Corn Chowder, New York Strip Steak.
Overall, the food, presentation, service, drinks and ambiance were good. Â Willing to give Jane's a second taste.
Note: this is a review based on dinner service and a vegetarian meal.
Plus points:
Good decor - there are two rooms with slightly different vibes/decor from each other, but both were cute
Nice service - Our waitress was friendly and knocked $5 off our corkage fee since all we brought were 3 beers.
Black Beans & Brown Rice - not a knockout dish in any way, but it was good, and very hearty.
Minus points:
As mentioned extensively by other yelpers, you cannot combine "deals". Ie we had a group on and came on 1/2 of wine bottles night, but were not allowed to mix the two. So basically, one deal cancels out the other. I was pretty miffed about that.
Pear Salad - this would have been great except that the greens were not very fresh. In fact, we had to pick out some greens that had gone slimy. Seriously, if we are paying $12 for a salad, at least have the decency to give us some good lettuce!
Jicama Salad - this was beyond laughable to offensively bad. Awkward cuts of jicama, tinged brown from oxidation, topped on a basic salad that you would get at McDonalds. And we paid $12 for it. Sigh.
This is definitely not a place you want to go as a vegetarian. Can't judge anything about the meat dishes, but why take the risk? So disappointing.
I would actually give it 3.5. This place is pretty good, but a bit over priced. However, the Salmon is quite good, and the veggie burgers are great.
I ordered the black beans and rice and was very disappointed. There was hardly any rice and it was pretty runny. I prefer what I make at home.
As for atmosphere, it is top notch. I highly recommend their brunch. Egg dishes are great too. It is more of a lunch/brunch place in my opinion.
I would get their next groupon and try it out if you have not been yet.
A good friend who dines out nightly took us here on a Wednesday evening, what a magnificent gem off the beaten path in the Bucktown neighborhood.
The service, the aesthetics, and more importantly the Menu blew our mind.
They have a great daily special menu worth looking at and on Wednesdays it's a non corking fee BYOB night. Â This is what Chicago dining is meant to be and urge you to give this one a try!
Kudos to Jane's
A pleasant wonderful surprise that is a neighborhood gem.
Prix Fixe Thursdays for $25. Â Soup and main dish can be shared for 2 that can still leave the tummy satisfied. Â The take out carrot cake became an impressive breakfast. Â The 15 sec microwave time for carrot cake warmth kept the cream cheese frosting intact and plump.
Impeccable service. Â We were initially seated for drinks and appetizers only. Â The enticing prix fixe menu made the visit a dinner event. Â By sharing a hallway with Trap Door Theater, our waitress volunteered to hold the carrot cake and to collect when show is over. Â I never had this kind of service in an overpriced shi shi restaurant.
The chicken breast with stuffed goat cheese was moist, flavorful that is perfectly paired with pastina.
Went here after the hubs purchased a Groupon and we were actually really excited because the reviews seemed promising. However, this place was nothing but disappointing. Â Completely overpriced, even with the Groupon! Â Terrible service and terrible food. Â
We were given brunch menus for dinner and were completely confused. Our server was sitting down for her break half the time. When we were served our food, they just placed
The corn chowder was a runny consistency and had no creaminess to it at all. Â The beet salad was just pieces of beets, nothing exciting. I ordered the porkchop that everyone was raving about and it left a lot to be desired. Â The side it came with was bland, dried out, and just totally did not go at all. Â My husband ordered the stuffed chicken and his dish was drowned in some kind of sauce that just killed the whole thing. Â It was freezing cold inside, dark, and just overall sad. I'm not quite sure why it's so popular and I doubt we'll coming back again.
Love this baby strip in east Wicker Park!
I have been here a couple times and tend to dream of the food if I don't visit every few months. Â
There are two rooms, which i like to call the yin-yang rooms. Â The first room has rich colors and is close to the kitchen. Â There are also two tiny tables in two nooks in the front of the dining room. Â Then, the white room (2nd room). Â There is a second bar and tends to feel more chill. Â Finally, my friend and I got to sit in one of the nooks. Â Holy people and dog watching. Â Some free entertainment!
The wine choices are grand and the bloody marys are tasty (crushed red pepper mixed in with the celery salt around the rim...yummy!). Â As for the food, I always have a difficult time deciding what to chow on. Â As for appetizers, the tuna, spicy shrimp, and hummus a delicious! Â The beet salad is amazing! Â I have been known to lick the plate! Â The entrees are plentiful and amazing, such as the chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and the spicy chicken pasta. Â I always try to save room for dessert, but no luck!
I cannot wait until I swing by again and try something else on the menu!
I've been to Jane's twice now since moving to the neighborhood, once for brunch and once for dinner. Brunch was pretty good and all the entrees came with super tasty rosemary potatoes, the highlight of the meal. It wasn't crowded and there were a lot of dishes on the menu that I'd like to try next time.
Dinner, sadly, was anything but impressive. Maybe I should have known that after trying 4 other restaurants nearby, this was the only one with reservations available before 9 pm on a Saturday night. The service was very inattentive and the waitress gave off the impression that she couldn't care less whether we liked our meal or not. I, in fact, did not, if she had cared to ask. The chicken was very dry and the best part, again, were the mashed potatoes on the side.
With literally hundreds of other places within walking distance, I will likely only come back here for brunch.
