Benchwarmers Sports Bar & Grill

I live really close, so I was excited when this place opened. I've been twice so far.

Pros:
Nice looking place, lots of big TVs
Decent drafts
Good food

Cons:
Poor service both times. Like, always had to flag them down and no smiles.
Pretty empty. Which makes the poor service irritating.

In a word? Underwhelming
Promising location and concept fitting of being a neighborhood bar hangout.  Can't ignore the poor service with attitude or Ho-hum food quality.  With only 4 customers in the entire place we should have at least been given a verbal list of beers on draught when we asked whether they had a beer list! Response we received? "No" followed by standing there smacking gum while we physically got up and walked in front of their taps to check for ourselves!

Hmmm... not sure how I feel about this place.

I live so close and there was a Scoutmob so my boyfriend and I decided to stop by for dinner and a drink. For a Friday night this place was dead... I mean there were two other people at the bar when we walked in and once we sat down they left. Awkward.

My greatest complaint isn't the fact that it is decorated like a club but isn't, or that it was so empty it was awkward, or that the beer selection is minimal... it is that the music was so loud and inappropriate for the setting. It was just my boyfriend and I just before midnight on a Friday. The music was incredibly loud, crappy club music. Like, really crappy Skrillex BS turned all the way up to 11. That might make sense if the place was bumpin' but it indeed was not and it just added to the awkwardness.

Our waitress/bartender is the same one that was mentioned in other reviews. She was a bit...cold at first but once we proved that we weren't ass holes she seemed to warm up and become friendly and even borderline engaging. Her attitude was not nearly as bad as some other reviewers say, but I could see that being the case.

The food was decent. The menu isn't great for vegetarians but it is a sports bar so that's to be expected. With the Scoutmob discount it was reasonably priced and I would return. However without that discount I don't know that it would be worth it.  Since I live so close I will go again and I hope my next experience is better than my mediocre one.

Also in response to other reviews... I live in the neighborhood and I also found the 'Jersey Shore' aesthetic of Benchwarmers to be strange. I also agree that the drafts seemed watered down. Weird.
