Living in the western suburbs I just can't get a gosh darn decent bagel without traveling at least 30 minutes, so when I was downtown for a meeting earlier this week and passed through my old neighborhood I had to stop in at NYC. Â For those reviewers that don't like their bagels I can't imagine what your thinking other than you must be so brainwashed by Panera's "roll with a hole" that you've learned to like it. Â My wife is probably sick of me complaining about these bagel imposters! Â Look, I'm not from New York. Â I grew up in the northern suburbs, but I know a good bagel when I see one and NYC has the goods my friend!
Since I was there before lunch but after the morning rush it wasn't crowded, the service was friendly and the lox sandwich I had was excellent. Â I brought home a dozen bagels and the family gobbled them up. Â Only complaint is they didn't give me any freezer bags which I normally get from my deli up north...no biggie. Â It is a small place so I could see how it could get crowded and the parking lot is ridiculous but really, what do you actually go there for...gimmie a dozen quality NYC style bagels and a shmear of cream cheese - and they do that great!
