It's Chipotle, you come here not because it's the best Mexican food around but because it's fast, convenient, affordable and usually reliable. I have 3 different locations within pretty much the same driving distance of me. I normally choose this one because of the ample parking. Aside from parking, aren't all Chipotle's supposed to be the same? Well unfortunately that hasn't been the case as of late. I feel like every time I go here they run out of something right before making my food. So I find myself standing around watching person after person moving past me. Whether it's the steak or rice, how do you not see that you're getting low? Isn't this someone on the line's responsibility to make sure it doesn't happen?
Also I'm a plain eater who usually gets a burrito bowl. I don't do beans or sour cream or any of the extras. Just rice, steak, salsa, cheese and lettuce for this guy but I find that my bowl is sometimes barely half full. Then I ask for a little extra rice to make up for what I didn't get and eyes start rolling. I know the employees are just doing their jobs by giving the small fixed portions that corporate hands out but come on. I bet they wouldn't pay $7 for one scoop of rice and one scoop of meat. This problem exists with more than just this location but this location makes me feel like I'm a bad person for asking for a little extra.
On our way to the zoo we were invited into the Chipotle Cultivate Festival. We decided to check it out and had an amazing time. We learned a lot about food...not all of it was good but it was very eye opening. Â We were also able to get a free coupon for each of us to eat at Chipotle.
We decided to use those coupons at this location. It had been about 10 years since I had my first and only burrito here. Â It is about time for me to give them another try.
I had a steak burrito, my wife had the salad bowl with chicken and my little one had chicken and cheese tacos. My poor little one started crying, after biting into her taco because it was too spicy. I tried a piece of chicken and realized it was way too spicy. Â I felt so bad. I wish one of the staff would have said something about it being that hot. The staff made us one taco with rice, beans and cheese. It was really nice of them to try and make it right. I just can not believe there was no warning about it being spicy.
My burrito was exactly how I remembered it 10 years ago. Â It feels too fancy for a burrito. Â I'm use to the authentic dirty Chicago steak burrito. Â Whole black beans and rice just seem out of place for me. Â It may be another 10 years until I eat here again. Â Nothing against there food but it is not for me.
You may wonder why I'm giving them 5 stars...I like Chipotle's message. Â They use local growers for there products. Â That is amazing. Â So if you eat here, the cheese comes from Wisconsin and the meat from Illinois. Most food chains do not run like this but they should. I think they have a great business plan for the environment and their customers. Thanks for trying to make a difference and hopefully others will follow!!!
