I've been back to this place a couple of times now with girlfriends (and since going gluten free) and I like it better now! The earlier in the day the better (less wait), and even during the week is awesome if you're playing hooky. They have a lot of hearty options that are naturally gluten free. And you can get their gluten free toast which is so awesome. It has seeds and nuts in it like homemade, and isn't just the standard white Udi's sandwich bread. Very guy friendly too because the portions are big (my brother is GF and he goes here all the time).

The biggest part? Their donut holes are now GLUTEN FREE!! Omg. They do cost more, but totally worth it. They are so good and its so fun to go somewhere and have an old treat I used to love, but GF. I highly recommend them! Too bad parking still sucks...

This place apparently just reopened yesterday. I had the basic breakfast with eggs, breakfast potatoes, and toast. The waitstaff was very friendly, however, it took wayyy too long for my food to come out. I could understand if it was something complicated, but I basically got the simplest thing on the menu. The food was good, especially the home made jelly...raspberry and perfect consistency.
The atmosphere is your typical trendy/hipster vibe. Very loud and packed. Not a good place to bring a book and read!

Comfortable place to have a nice breakfast. I really like the biscuits and sausage gravy here. The coffee is pretty good and the people working are all in good spirits.

Oh my gosh, so yummy. Amazing food, busy atmosphere you'd expect of a brunch place, but the staff was super nice and attentive. All the food and drinks were amazing, plus Bhakti Chai. Doesn't get better!

I went here after a recommendation from some friends and I couldn't believe I hadn't been here before because it was so close to where I live. It was pretty darn good, I couldn't decide on what to get on the menu. Here's a little tidbit of info you might not know....they make their only jelly daily. I wonder how they got their name...oh wait, I just got it.

I had the corned beef and egg breakfast and it was really good. I want to go back and try more of their waffle and pancake stuff because I have a bit of a sweet tooth.

I met the owner, Josh, and he seems like a really down to earth nice guy. They are currently closed for renovations, but I hear they opening back up in a week or so. I will be back for some pancakes and of course.....JELLY!!!!

This place is literally thee best breakfast place I have everrrr been too. I consider myself an avid bruncher. Jelly cafe exceeded all of my expectations. Our table tried the Sriracha donuts and the bacon ( of course). The service was great. While we waited we got coffee and the chai was incredible. The barista even put a pretty foam flower in my mug. I had the salmon scramble with goat cheese. The boys had something or other with a bunch of bacon. This place is great, worth the wait. Sit at the bar if you can catch a spot. I would have waited 2 hours. Cant wait to go back! GO BRONCOS!

This is my FAVORITE breakfast/brunch place in all of Denver.
Sometimes a bit of a wait to be seated, but that's to be expected at such an awesome place as this. You can always go to the Beauty Bar next door and get a delicious bloody.
The hashes are just SO good! Of course the traditional hash, and the red flannel hash is just amazing, and the sweet potato hash is always a winner!!!
Drinks are always good. Service wonderful! LOVELOVELOVE.
So happy they're opening a new location by DU - more people need to experience this!

This is one of my favorite brunch places! I haven't had anything on their menu that I don't like, the staff is awesome, and the atmosphere is a riot!

If you're concerned about the wait, go grab a drink at the bar and sit it out because it will be worth it.

FYI: the only gluten free pancake on the menu is blueberry, but they can do any pancake gluten free as far as I know. I do a gluten free pancake with bacon! Also, almost anything on their menu can be made gluten free.

For a couple of New Yorkers visiting Denver after some skiing in the Rockies, this hipster-ish "breakfast all-day" joint was right up our alley! We came here on the recommendation of one of the excellent staffers over at the Burnsley Hotel...THANKS!

After some tough deciding, my friend and I both ordered off the Benedicts menu. She ordered a regular eggs Benedict, while I opted for the "Haco Benedict" (pic: http://www.yelp.com/biz_…) The Haco Benedict came with a deliciously-stewed mashup of chorizo, roasted poblanos, and tomatoes drenching the biscuit beneath. As if that wasn't enough, the entire mess was topped with hollandaise and dusted with paprika = mouthgasm.

We finished our meal with an assortment (eight flavors available) of made-to-order donut bites which were delicious! We brought a second large box back for the hotel staff at the Burnsley, who have been driving us to/from all the Denver spots in their complimentary shuttle. Service throughout was friendly and speedy, and our waitress was more than patient with us as we were deciding (read: drooling) over the menu options.

Because our hotel was only a few blocks away from Jelly, I can't comment on the parking, but our experience otherwise was five-star from start to finish! Jelly Cafe is definitely worth the trek up to Capitol Hill if you're seeking a solid breakfast/brunch!

I like just about everything, given enough time and leeway. It's part of who I am, like those penguins that live alone down in the Antarctic - the ones without any natural predators - until something new shows up that eats one of their legs, or, you know, kills a friend of theirs. Then they know not to trust that thing. But, you know, even if I were naturally untrustworthy, I think I would still sense the inviting nature of the world of Jelly Cafe. Even if there is a 30+ minute wait on a Friday afternoon.

We originally came here for their $9.00 bottomless mimosas* but, guys, I feel like I have been put on this earth to tell you that THE BOTTOMLESS MIMOSA MAGIC IS ONLY MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. Not Friday.

It's okay, though, because you know what? We asked our waitress, Kiki, if they had any drink specials, to which she replied, "nope." [PAUSE] "Let me see if we can make one up, though." And she disappeared. She returned moments later, carrying two glass mugs filled with something that tasted concurrently of: grapefruit, lemon, tonic water, a hidden liquor, dreams. Well, not really that last one because the bartendress made the thing up on the spot. I asked, "Kiki, is this bottomless?" [cue sincere expression] and she said, "Heck no! But I like your style. Pick out some donuts and I'll pay for them."

Which is the story of how I got to sample all of the donuts that they offer at Jelly Cafe. Which is also the story of how I fell in love with Kiki (I don't know if she knows this yet). Which is also the story of how I fell in love with the wonder that is a spicy Thai donut: an ethereal concoction of peanut butter-type stuff and hot sauce that opens both your senses and your mind. Try it, try it, try it. Actually, try them all (especially the cream-filled ones).

Because I was with a friend that I met two weeks prior (thus concealing our gross daily habits from each other), we shared (bites of) our food. So I feel that I can also, with confidence, recommend the PB3 (peanut butter, bananas, bacon) with all of my heart, as well as the Bhakti chai french toast with most of my heart (it felt like a slight letdown after the flavor-splosion that was the PB3, but it was still great on its own). Basically, I recommend going with friends and sharing bites often to get as much of the menu tasted as quickly as possible. Life is short, guys, and Jelly knows it. That's why it strives to make you feel good often.

If you are in the mood to tempt yourself, the restaurant has a fully photographed menu on Instagram (search "jellymenu") because, well, the best advertising is to show 'em what you can do, right? And, Jelly, you keep doin' what you do, because, even if it wasn't hard to do in the first place, you have a lifetime customer in this predatorless penguin.

- - - - -

* I have since learned that the $x.00 bottomless mimosas thing is pretty popular around these parts. Maybe all parts? I don't know. I don't get out much.

Update: Yes, the policy is ridiculous. I would normally have no problem with waiting at the establishment but certain obligations and time constraints prevented me from doing so. I was not "cutting the line" or asking a seated customer to get up, I was asking someone who was finished with his meal. Someone who was currently paying to take a few seconds which he looked like he had no problem doing so to stand for a few minutes so that I could place an order.

I went to another similarly busy establishment and had no problem placing a to go order for myself there, the food came out within 15 minutes within ordering.

It's not about cutting the line, or thwarting the policy. It was about the lack in customer service received while in the building. I really think a revision to the store policy is in order for people with items that are only 1. Calling in a To-go order for one person who still wants to have food but really doesn't have the time to wait 30+ for a table seems like a reasonable expectation to me and perhaps to other people as I had read in other reviews listed here. Just my 2 cents.

Love the super-hipster ambience of this cute breakfast sport in Cap hill. Yummy doughnut holes filled with homemade JELLY and unique breakfast sliders. It also gets the vegetarian thumbs up for providing many veggie options.

Overall, worth the wait! Can't wait to return to experience these bottomless mimosas I keep hearing about!

First the good. Our waitress was pleasant, funny and a little bit psychic. I always drink Vanilla Lattes but somehow with the excitement that they have Almond Milk I forgot to say Vanilla. About five minutes later she walked by and said "Hey, did you want Vanilla in that?" *Mind blown* The latte was great. I was feeling adventurous and ordered a "scramble" called "The Northwest". It is eggs, seared salmon, goat cheese and chives, served with a biscuit and rustic potatoes. I ate every bite of my eggs and salmon, they were the perfect consistency and the goat cheese was fantastic. I'm not a huge potato fan but they were also cooked perfectly. This dish was $8.50 which is very good considering it had salmon in it.

And the not so good. We had breakfast at 8am on Sunday and the parking was terrible even for Denver. After circling for 10 minutes I had to park in what looked like employee only parking but hey live in Denver you get a few tickets. The inside is largish and while it has an echo, it does allow for a mostly private conversation. The seating isn't terrible but it's not great and there is no actual waiting space. They do utilize every bit of space but it really does nothing for keeping you or your food warm (the waitress did bring steam milk when asked). I am a huge biscuit fan and I was disappointed by how dry it was and they just gave me Raspberry jelly without asking.

Overall, I quite enjoyed Jelly. I would definitely recommend carpooling if possible, arrive early and expect a wait if you come later in the morning. They also specialize in doughnut holes which were pretty good. I'll totally go to Jelly again.

Met a friend here for brunch on a weekday, and it was busy! Service was great, food was yummy...I got one of the Benedicts and we got a single pancake to share. I didn't have the doughnut holes but they looked YUMMY!! I'll be trying those next time. I'll definitely be back!

This restaurant has such stellar reviews across the board we were a bit surprised by our experience.

No easy parking. Middle of the day on a Monday & there was still a 20 minute wait with no real waiting area. The seating was pretty uncomfortable, whether booth or chair, and our booth today was near the kitchen where the smell of rancid dishes was quite strong. The noise level was exceptionally loud, which appeared to be part of the hipster fun, but left my husband and I unimpressed.

We ordered large vanilla cambrics, which came with no vanilla and were medium. We split the corned beef hash, which was rushed to our table without even the offer of an extra plate. The hash was good, but there was nothing unique about it that would make me return.

The donut bites with fresh flavoring were very very delicious, though, and our server was nice and appeared to be trying her best.

I have to say that this place has really become a Capitol Hill staple. They have added more to the doughnut bites (maple bacon, chai and a spicy Thai one with a peanut sauce on it--omg!). I also hear that they have opened up another location and it is so nice to see places like this, with great, creative menu's, welcoming and fun staff and a cozy feel, thriving. If it wasn't constantly busy I would eat there daily, not just because I love breakfast, but I honestly could never get tired of their menu. They change things up, keep thing updated and always seem to hire the best people who seem to love what they do.

I've been to Jelly twice.

The first time, I should have returned my dish, but didn't want to make a scene. I ordered egg salad, which admittedly is an odd dish to order for brunch, but hey, if an item is on the menu, it should not be a throw-away dish (and I love egg salad). The egg salad was beyond just throw-away. It was inedible. It had the metallic taste of egg salad that is being stored improperly, like in a metal container. Or egg salad that's being stored in a sulfurous rock. My companion got a chorizo scramble. It was good, not great.

The second time I went, I learned from my mistake and ordered the farm scramble, because I am a sucker for an "oven roasted tomato" (which led me to all kinds of musings about what other types of roasted tomato it could be distinguishing itself from, but, I digress). I am also a sucker for cream cheese in eggs. So this dish was pleasant. Not rock-my-world amazing, but very good.

Our bloodies were good, too. They put celery in them, like civilized human beings. I asked for mine without the accompanying salad. In my opinion, a bloody should have celery, minced radish, celery salt, and a beer back. So I got one out of four. Could have used some booze, though (and I saw our server carrying shots to the table behind us, possibly for that very reason).

As for the decor, I understand why people would like this place, but it is not my style. When you enter the door, it's like stepping into a 1980s cereal box cover.

The second time I went, I could hold a conversation, since the music was at an acceptable level. The first time, the music was blaring so loudly that I'm surprised our bloodies didn't fall off the table.

The first 3 times I tried to order takeout from Jelly, it didn't happen. I attempted to call in an order on a Saturday or Sunday late morning, and my calls went to voicemail, and when the voicemail picked up it told me the box was full. Finally I decided to try them again, this time on a weekday, and they actually answered the phone!

I had been wanting to try their vegetarian biscuits and gravy, as there aren't many places in the city that serve them. So I ordered those and a side of potatoes. The menu says "homemade drop biscuits," so naturally I was expecting two biscuits, as is the case with every other place I've ever had b&g. Well, it was one biscuit only--very disappointing to pay $6.79 for one single biscuit with gravy. It was pretty good though; the gravy had chunks of veggies in it and seemed almost like a thick soup rather than gravy. But it wasn't bad. The potatoes, however, weren't so good. They are skin-on, wedge potatoes and were almost charred on the outside yet thick, almost undercooked, on the inside and nearly flavorless. I did not even eat them.

There is no way I would even try to go here on a weekend. The place is small and is always packed with lots of people waiting outside. I might try them again for to-go food, as there are a few other things on the menu which sound interesting.

Wow. Best-in-Denver breakfast food, cool staff, and even fun cereal boxes on the wall -- as long as the sadness in recognizing these relics come from your own childhood doesn't drag you down too much.

Like all the top breakfast spots, it gets busy ... come early (like before 8:30) to beat the hipster rush.

My favorite breakfast spot. I love it so much. I was about to give it four stars because there is ALWAYS a really long wait! I know that's kind of standard on weekends at any breakfast place, but I don't go here nearly as much as I'd like because the wait is always so long. But I love Jelly so much I can't give it four stars like a jerk. Jelly works hard and they get five stars. You can't downgrade because other people love it too.

The servers have always been awesome and funny and fast. The menu has a lot of delicious, interesting options. Their pancakes literally made my mouth water when they came out... but actually most foods here have that effect on me. Like the fresh made donuts or the flavorful bloody mary's.

Oh, also, you get a free order of donuts on your birthday. Go there and get a little drunk and finish it off with some birthday donuts and then go to the art museum or whatever you do.

Just don't sit at your table for hours after your done and chat. Take that noise somewhere else. Let us hungry people waiting get a chance!

I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Sure their ambiance is adorable and it is right in the neighborhood but the lack of variety is surprising. Very few vegan options and difficult to make substitutions. The staff are always nice and the drinks are good but my opinion of this place stops there. Sorry the be a bubble burster.

Amazing breakfast place.

Had a few days in Denver and had a chance to stop by for a late breakfast. Was super busy but had great service.

Ate the maple bacon bites (Highly recommended) and an omelette with potatoes which was pretty awesome. Oh yeah, the apple juice was more like cider which was a pleasant surprise.

Overall very delicious, quick service, friendly staff, and great atmosphere.

Checked this place out for brunch over the weekend. We waited about 45 minutes to be seated.

Cute restaurant- from what I saw of the inside since we were seated on the patio.

We got a half order of donut bites to start. I had one filled with lemon custard and another with creme anglaise. I liked the filling and wish there was more it. The donut bite was a little lacking for me - as in I don't think I could eat the donut bite on its own. It just tasted like dough to me.

So I ordered the roast turkey benedict. I've seen one as an option before for breakfast/brunch. It was pretty good and the poached eggs were nice and runny. The potatoes that the benny came with were so-so. There were cold too.

I'd like to come back and try one of their hashes. They had some interesting combinations.

Yum!

That is all...

Just kidding.

This place just started serving Gluten Free Donut bites! BAM! Delicious. Maple Bacon? Ok, it's official, Jelly is my new favorite breakfast place. I even brought some donut bites home in a little to-go box. It is taking all the power of my being to not go in the kitchen and scarf them all down!

We did wait an hour to get a spot at the counter, but, hey, it is a long wait because it is awesome. I had the farmer scramble with chicken sausage. If you have read any of my other reviews you know I have an obsession with goat cheese. And there was a big ol' dollop of it on my scramble. What I could do without? Sour cream on my potatoes. I wanna lather my potatoes in ketchup and hot sauce, those do not mix well with sour cream. So, I will ask them to hold that next time. Reasonably priced Bloody Mary. It isn't the cheapest, but it isn't the most expensive brunch I have ever had for such delicious food. Also our server/bartender was probably the nicest person in Cap Hill-and she was seriously good at her job. It is hip inside, but not too hip. Like joyfully hip, with happy, friendly people all around. O.k., maybe that is the Bloody talking, but fer real, it is a great ambience, too.

I love this place so much I might marry it, if you were allowed to marry a restaurant, that is.

Cute breakfast joint!

Service was phenomenal--very down to earth and friendly. Although our wait wasn't too long, I can see how weekend mornings can get hairy.

I recommend the donuts--ask for a mix of all flavors though the filled ones are the best!

We got the corn flaked french toast (gargantuan and very tasty) and the sweet potato hash. We were happy with both and hope to come back soon!

AS is said in other reviews there always seems to be a wait at this place especially breakfast. Now the food is good almost excellent I ended up getting the ricotta pancakes, (2 orders= there is a reason why I ordered so much food in which you will read about in a moment), mini donuts and a bluemosa. But here is how excellent:

20 minute wait = very excellent
40 minute wait = still pretty excellent
1 hours wait when quoted 40 min = excellent
1 hours and 20 minute when quoted 40 min = ahh I'm so hungry an McDonald's egg McCrappy Muffin would be excellent right now.

So an 1 hour and 30 minutes later the food was excellent but truth be told I was so hungry at this point anything that was put in front of me could have been excellent.

I never knew I needed to bring a CLIF bar with me when going out to eat. I suggest you do especially if you are planning on going here on a weekend anywhere near the wee morning hours.

Good points were the Cuban sandwich and the cute old boxes of cereal that are on the wall. Like I said the food was good but you have to judge how excellent their food is to the amount of time you are willing to spend hanging around.

We were in town for a friend's wedding and stopped by this place for breakfast.

We had to put in our names for about an hour-long wait (and just hiked around the area for a while). So glad we did.

I'm still thinking about the corn flake battered french toast and donut bites.

We have some fantastic spots to eat here in Austin, but I've yet to find a breakfast place as good as Jelly -- anywhere.

Jelly Cafe was our savior this past February. We had woken up at 4AM for our 6:30 flight to Denver from Texas, and the bottomless mimosas literally took our breath away. It was a perfect start to a great weekend.

Our server was extremely attentive and even wrote down the best places in the area to go. Every server actually came by our table and either smiled, brought us something, or said hello. Definitely what I expected my first place to visit in Denver to be like, open friendly and down right awesome!

For a town that claims to like breakfast, I have a hard time finding places I like but this one absolutely goes on the list.

It's in cap hill and on Saturday morning we only waited 15 mins (making it about an hour shorter than Lucille's or Snooze). AND they make it easy to order a drink while you wait.

We had a small order of the donut holes, yummy yummy. But more importantly we split the corn flakes french toast; I'm not a huge french toast fan but I loved every last bite. So good. We also had a scramble with goat cheese, eggs done right make me happy.

Finally! A place that lives up to the hype.

Located steps away from the Capitol, Jelly Cafè offers an authentic neighborhood feel to one of Denver's most vibrant areas. In a nutshell, they do everything right. Couldn't bring myself to give it 5 stars, but not sure why!

Food: A -
Price: (you get what you pay for): A
Ambiance / Clientele : B
Service: A -
Location: A

Coffee is strong, just like I like it! Servers are friendly and knowledgeable about food and drink!

U2 and Annie Lennox playing in the background reminded me of Denver just the way I remember it.

Went here with a friend when we were craving breakfast in the afternoon.

The good: Their special that day was red velvet pancakes, which I ordered. SO good! I'd go back just to eat them again. They have a nice selection of teas, which they serve with a little pot of hot water to pour yourself. Overall, the food was good, our server was polite, and we got our food decently fast even though it was busy.

The bad: The hostess. When we walked in, we stood there waiting for about 5 minutes before the hostess finally came to the front. She immediately told us that they were short staffed and the she couldn't seat us until the servers got caught up on tables. We said that was totally fine and we would be willing to wait, we just wanted to sit down (half the tables were empty). She told us "no", and disappeared into the back. We eventually got her attention and asked if we could look at some menus, and five minutes later she found us one menu. I asked her again if we could just sit down and that we didn't mind waiting for service, and she STILL wouldn't let us sit anywhere! Like i said, half the tables were vacant. It didn't help that she came off as incredibly irritated and rude.

Overall decent experience. I'll probably return and hopefully that hostess won't be there.

I recently cut a little article out of the newspaper which listed breakfast spots around town to check out. Since, breakfast is our favorite meal, I took my husband for a birthday breakfast last weekend and now we can't wait to go back.

Donut bites, fresh made to order? Oh, hell yeah!
Root veg hash with poached eggs? Be still my heart!
Moist, fluffy biscuits with sausage gravy? I've died and gone to heaven!

The best thing there? The service. When we mentioned we were there for a birthday breakfast, Katie, gave us our donut bites on the house.

We got there round 8 AM on a Saturday morning, which was great because when we left there was a line out the door.

I'm definitely planning on a return trip...I can still close my eyes and taste those warm jelly filled donuts melting in my mouth...

I had breakfast at Jelly Cafe two mornings in a row while I was in Denver on business. If I lived closer, it would become a dangerous habit.

The doughnuts are really not to be missed. They come out warm and filled with creme anglaise, chocolate anglaise, jelly or the standard cinnamon sugar. They are all delicious.

The first morning I had the Hill Side (scrambled eggs with sausage,, onion, roasted red pepper, and swiss cheese) and accompanied with peasant potatoes topped with sour cream. As breakfast potatoes go, these were perfect. The second morning, I selected the breakfast sliders and again was not disappointed.

I was there early both mornings and didn't have to wait. The staff was fantastic, attentive, and very helpful. The next time I am in Denver, I plan to have breakfast there again.

I was visiting from out-of-town and a breakfast food hunger kicked in. Yelp lead me to the Jelly Cafe. I came around 11:30am on a Sat. 45+ minute wait based on people in line before me. Just re-iterating what all the other reviews say. Luckily I was by myself and immediately grabbed a seat by the bar.

The service at the bar was friendly and prompt. I ended up eating the Sweet Potato Hash; the chorizo listed in the ingredients enticed me.

It wasn't greasy as you'd expect with choriza, but it was heavy because of the potatoes. Still very good, especially with a good cup of coffee.

One negative I experienced...after I got my check I tried to use the "free coffee' offer that was on Yelp at the time and they wouldn't accept it. Said it was too late. Seemed kinda of a simple thing to fix. Regardless it wasn't enough to damper my experience.

I'd say I give the four stars not for the food (probably a 3star for that), but the atmosphere. Diverse staff and customers. If you're from Atlanta, think East Atlanta/Little 5 Points crowd. You're not in suburbia anymore.

NOTE, if you're an Art Decor fan, across the street is the
Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art. A nice little diversion before (depending on the wait) or after a visit to Jelly Cafe.

I stopped in to sample Jelly's wares after a tough early am workout on my day off playing tourist in my town. I decided to finally have breakfast here. Coming in at 9 am on a Thursday morning was perfect timing, with no wait. Since I was a party of one, I sat at the bar, which was perfect.

I ordered the bhakti chai french toast with a side of bacon and scrambled eggs. The chai french toast was absolutely delicious. Service was great and quick. I lingered for a bit and then headed off to the Molly Brown Museum to start off my day.

The food was tasty and I definitely plan to come back. I still want to try those lemon poppyseed pancakes and the sweet potato hash. It was definitely the way to start off my day.

I indeed WILL eat more Jelly. Much more, in fact.

I think this place beats Snooze's pants right off. Mostly for the beignets ('donut bites'), but I found their Benedict's to be superior as well. I did it right with the Pork Belly Benny, (special of the day) and ooooooo mama! I all but licked my plate clean.

Also nommed on the Country Sliders, which I shared with my Honey. Everything was deliciously prepared and went down fast.

I adored our cute & quirky waitress. She was really funny and was great at getting everything out in good timing despite the sea of other egg-munchers. Oh, that's why I took off the star--effing ridiculous crowds on the weekends. We went at the UN-GODLY hour of 8AM specifically to beat the morning rush, and there was still a bustle (Who ARE you people?! Don't you sleep?!).

Luckily the wait was only about 20 minutes, instead of 2 hours like I've heard some people've waited (even if God's Son was manning the griddle, I would NEVER. . .).

So yes, the hype is actually merited for the food--it's just really fricking good. So go. But go early--or if you're a nine-to-fiver, play hooky for some brilliant breaky.
