Beautiful place. Nice view of the water. The food was good. Service was good. A bit on the pricey side but normal for that part of Long Island. I'll come back some day.

I went to the Jellyfish on Saturday night with 4 other people , and had just an incredible time.  The restaurant was very busy, but it's not hard to understand why.  A beautiful location and decor.  as well a delicious food.  the grilled branzino , spicy fish tacos, and  lobster asparagus risotto were raved about all night long.  The drinks were top of the line as well.  The lemon basil martini was great. Our waitress was incredibly attentive , and the manager Diane was as well.  Diane was so nice and accommodating that we all felt like we were a VIP Table.  Cant wait to return!!

This review is fresh out the oven aka just ate from this place about an hour ago! I've been stalking this place for a while now and actually randomly reserved this place on my way back from taking shots of Crab Meadow Beach with friends. My reservation was for 8 p.m but I got there almost 30 minutes ahead of time, we were seated without hesitation.

We sat right where you can see the Centerport harbor and tonight their was a lot of thunder and lightning, would have been great to eat out there if there was none. We were starving so we ordered Calamari just to be safe, my friend and I ordered the Volcano and Red Dragon roll, my sister ordered the spicy fish tacos ($18 yikes).

The main reason the 5th star is missing from my review is because the kitchen service was just slow. Their was a good 15-20 min wait until we got our calamari which was AMAZING by the way. But then we waited another 15-20 mins for our entrees, in that time we saw no waiting staff come our way. Something that was weird is that we saw 6-7 different faces at our table, we had this girl who was with a trainee Joe (keep it up!) and several other people come by and handle the food and water. Everyone loved their food the sushi was priced pretty normal but wtf at $18 fish tacos?! They had special seasoned fries that came with the tacos but I'd let El Ranchito in East Northport and Bubba's in Islip take care of that.

I'll definitely be back, hopefully I'll get the outdoor deck seating AND the guys in the kitchen can step it up a bit.

Went with the wife, had very high hopes....beautiful interior, very modern, really liked the decor.

The food was another story. Got a sushi roll...it  was fine, but this isn't a japanese place so I guess you cannot expect something excellent. Someone wrote that it was some of the "best sushi they have ever had".....you must be kidding me! It was on par with say, Whole Foods or Fairway. Totally edible, but something I expect more from a higher end supermarket, not a restaurant.

My wife got fried jellyfish for the sheer novelty...and that is all it is....not very tasty.

I got a pasta/lobster dish....it was bland, frankly, inedible. I basically picked around it, the waitress never asked if I liked it...and then I was violently ill when I got home.

Drinks were solid, but drinks are easy. Wouldn't go back.

Ok--- Upfront.... we just came from Yelp's Great Friday so I need to state right away that we were already have a really super night. That said, we pulled up and a very nice gentleman in valet opened the door for my lovely date and then came to my side of the car--- a definite plus to start with. The ambience inside is very nice and just dark enough to invite a quiet romantic dinner in of of the many seating areas. There is what looked like a fantastic sushi bar along the left side as you enter the "bar" area. A really good duo of jazz musicians were adding to our otherwise great night and we chose to sit and get some apps at the bar. The bartender who doubled as our server was friendly polite and quite knowledgeable -- If he hadn't tried a dish we inquired about he freely admitted so and told us what others had thought of choices we asked about.
If there is fried jellyfish on the menu, do you really have a choice in trying it? we thought so too and ordered it. Breaded heavily and with a dipping sauce, it tasted like breading with dipping sauce. Served shoestring style, it was neither great or horrible an interesting item to say we had tried. Moving along, you have some really great tasting choices. There is bison, venison, and boar sausage with a perfectly paired spicy mustard that was really the highlight of all of the appetizers we tried. The clam chowder was as good as any I've had on the island- served hot and really very very good. The cocktails were done just right in a rather strange glass--- martinis in a margarita glass... hmm they tasted just great all the same. There are also some great dessert items to try and the presentation is really very nice. Delicious as well.  Good music, great service and a friendly staff make this an evening you are sure to enjoy. I'm sure it will only get better as the restaurant ages a bit. At our sitting, Jellyfish had only been open a few weeks... Seemed to me that the bugs were pretty ironed out.  Well done!

From the first moment we entered, to the last bites of our dinner, Jellyfish delivered a tremendous dining experience.  Every detail was considered, from the fit and finish of the beautifully restored carriage house decor, to the tasty bites of fried jellyfish.

Jellyfish offers not only some of the best sushi I've ever had, but also some of the most tasty, inventive bar creations as well (we had the grape & sage martini, the earl martini, and the white dove chocotini - all delicious, and all packing quite a punch!).

Moving on to the main courses, I was blown away that a seafood restaurant also had some of the most delicious "turf" dishes as well - the t-bone & the pork chop were killer, and cooked to perfection.  On the seafood side, the cantonese lobster & pork belly was phenomenal, and the clam bake was a twist on an old throwback of a seafood treat - a little taste of all my favorites.

Sadly - i think a lot of the reviews that have been posted so far haven't given the restaurant a fair shake - any place that's recently opened is going to have its handful of growing pains, and IMHO some of these reviews are a sad reflection on the shortcomings of the Yelp community --  instead of being delightfully surprised by the incredibly fresh and delicious ingredients, people choose to gripe about bartenders who are learning the menu, and a restaurant that's getting its footing. We experienced a few of those hiccups as well, but you're losing the forest for the trees when you gripe about a few loose ends and miss the deliciousness.

In sum -- check it out!  And try as many different delicious dishes (and drinks) as you can!

    Sushi - Lounge

Jellyfish has opened in a spot that has traditionally seen a lot of places come and go.  The location is great but on the other hand, not that great in that getting in and out of the place can be both interesting and dangerous.

The place is nice to look at, but you had better bring something to put over your nose - the stench as you walk through the downstairs area can best be described as a cross between "ass" and shellfish left out in the sun.  Not very appealing for a restaurant - but thankfully the sit-down part is up the stairs where the stink is not so bad.  since the downstairs area is a night time venue, it cannot be that conducive to chatting up the ladies.

We hit the bar area and had the unfortunate luck of being assigned the worst bartender ever- this guy had no clue how to make a drink, never mind the specialty cocktails that they offer.  He whipped out his big 8 x 10 pad with the specialty drinks on the them to make someone's order...  He did know the beers and could discuss those, but this guy is not ready for prime time.  the other two bartenders were sort of full of themselves - they were just too cool for Centerport.  puh-leeze...

The menu was a mix of standard sushi items and some interesting dishes - we only went with sushi and that came out as ordered - it was well executed and well presented.  No problems at all with the sushi, but our crack bartender didn't know what soy sauce dishes were, nor did the busboy apparently.  So we had to sit there while someone tracked those down.  After finally getting those, we grab the soy sauce and.... drip.  About 6 drops came out of the sushi canister.   Since our uber-slow bartender was concentrating on putting a lemon in a drink, I just got up, walked over to the sushi bar and took one from there,  I figured it would be another 10 minutes if we waited on them.

While waiting for drinks and food you notice that the place is still not complete construction-wise.  There are open holes in the ceiling where apparently spot lights or high hats are to go, some of the neon blinks erratically - bad news if you are prone to epilepctic fits.  I'm just saying.

Clientele were interesting.  The expected collection of north shore peeps plus the two annoying dudes who obviously work there but it was their night off.  These two came all decked out in their baggy sweat pants and hoodies and were getting banged up at the bar - but in fits and starts.  so they would come over, yell at other people over my head, sit there, drink then leave their drink and wander off.  This then wasted a good seat for paying customers (who were properly dressed) and I thought it was in poor taste on the part of the management, whoever they were.

Overall - the place is not all that it could be.  Maybe that will change but my guess is that when it is all said and done, it will just morph into a nightclub that serves sushi and the restaurant will not make it.  The staff needs polishing, the construction needs to be completed and someone needs to pour 55 gallons of bleach in the lower level to kill whatever is stinking up the place.

Try it - and judge for yourself.

Valet parking and suicidal entry and exit to and from the main road.

My husband and I went to the Jellyfish for restaurant week to try out the menu- we wanted a little bit of everything and thought this was a good time to do so. We have been waiting for about two years for it to open so we were kind of excited. So we went on a Tuesday night, I think the restaurant was open for about a week or two so we expected some bumps in the road, however we were highly disappointed!

We sat down and were given a cocktail menu- about 10 mins later our dinner menu came....way to push the drinks guys! After looking over the dinner menu, we wanted to see the restaurant week menu, well we had to ask for that and were then presented with a dirty single sheet of white paper in the tone of "oh here" like we were committing a crime or something. If a restaurant is going to partake in restaurant week you should be proud and not hide it under the table, especially since you just opened and need new customers. We sat down about the same time three other couples did, what did they get on their tables- this really good looking bread, what did we get on ours? NOTHING! Not to then be rude we asked 5 TIMES for bread throughout the evening- I mean really??? We order our beer and wine and asked for some bread- because it looked so good and everyone else had theirs- no bread. We got our appetizers quickly- my husband had the baked clams, they were really good and gave you about 8 of them. And I had the spicy tuna roll- amazing, a tad spicy, but I like spicy- so I was happy the waiter kept refilling our water glasses, so I asked for bread to take the edge off- no bread and again no bread. We waited about 30-40 mins for our dinners while people who sat when we did (who got their bread) already were eating. We asked for bread twice while waiting- we didn't mind waiting if we had some food. The table next to us took their bread home so it must have been good..... We got our food- the tout and some grilled chicken item I can remember the name of and it was really good and they were large portions. When we just finished eating our bread came- I turned it down, I mean really? My husband was also offered another beer after dinner was over and not during. Dessert was also good- nothing to write home about.

Overall experience was "ok" the menu is large and they seemed to have a good sushi menu. Some items seem over priced for what they are and some prices are standard. They need a better variety on their menu- like more basics, linguine with clams or something. The service was ok, they all seemed new and to have no experience ever working in a restaurant. I'd go back if I was with a group who wanted to try a new restaurant or maybe in a year but that's it; sadly my husband and I who live in Centerport won't be making this place a regular which we thought we could have.

service was pretty bad, felt very rushed. the bread was the best thing ever but it was all downhill after that. oyster shot was gross and $11 for 1 oyster. fried jellyfish was good but prob just cuz fried stuff is good. entrees were not good at all. and they brought out the wrong dessert and didn't even realize. won't be going back, although hey maybe it was just a bad night, looks like a nice place, hopefully they get their stuff together for the upcoming season.
