Horrible service. Never going back. Just go to Jimmy Johns next door or subway a block north.

First time ever going to this sub/sandwich shop. And it will def not be my last, the food/prices beat out Jimmy John's by a long shot... If your hungry get the large sub no need to eat for another 5-6hrs. I wish they had locations on Michigan guess I'll have to wait till next time I cone back to visit Chicago... Oh by the way Jimmy Johns is three doors down and at around 11am/12pm there was only 1-3 people at JJ and about 15-20 and JM!

Beside Potbelly, this is my go-to place for subs. Try the Club sub with everything minus the onions and bacon. The philly cheese steak sub is pretty good too.

This place is ok.  If it wasn't across the street from my office I would never go out of my way to stop in.

Their big thing is that they cut the meat and cheese in front of you - I guess it's a decent gimmick but if you're buying deli meats and cheeses hopefully you know it's all a bunch of processed food anyways so whether they cut it in front of you or not doesn't change the fact that it's still processed food.

Word to the wise about when they ask you if you want it "Mike's Way" - if you don't like straight up chugging olive oil from the bottle, I'd highly recommend telling them to go light on the oil and vinegar.  Every time I watch them put that stuff on it's like they are having an oil and vinegar war with the sandwich.  Even when I tell them to go light on both, sometimes they completely ignore me or just forget and go crazy anyways and it pisses me off!

The staff are all super nice so that's a plus.

maybe 2.25 for the philly alone but 2 overall. not bad just not like special for the money. hey I wish it were knock out . It's certainly better than subway (inedible to me) and fresh bread always a big plus. But when you have the signature sub and come away saying decent meat band bread but overall nothing special just the same ole' sub with mikes way.. well I guess one feels deflated. so meh.

Just like many of the other posts, I will point out that this isn't the most efficient place. I've worked in sandwich places and managed a couple and feel that this is a disaster during rush hour. You tell the first person what you want it it becomes like a telephone game where the message gets passed on through 3 other people, on top of other sandwich descriptions, to the people who make your sub.

Sure this process can be improved. Sure the layout could have been better. There is a second sandwich prep area that seems to be hardly used. But yes I am a fan due to the tasty subs! I've been looking for a new kind of sub and Mikes Way has it going on.

And the staff, they are really friendly, even though it is an unorganized cluster. If you can avoid this place during rush hour, then do it. But if you can't, keep a close eye on your sub and just make sure you repeat what you want to the person making your sub. Even then they could mess it up. I saw a guy order a tuna wrap and say to the person 3 times extra tomatoes and ground pepper only, they got the tomato part right but put oregano instead. Oh well, its just a sub right?

It was my first time eating at a Jersey Mike's and it was great!  I ask the sandwich maker for a recommendation and suggested the #4 (don't recall the actual name but was two kinds of ham and provolone cheese) and it was awesome!  Honestly may have been the best sub I have ever had!  I had it "Mike's way", as suggested, with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.  I also added this red chili relish that was very tasty. The sandwich maker yelled down the the checkout guy "that its his first time, give him a cookie", which I appreciated and it has a great homemade chocolate chip.  I will be back soon :)

I was walking around on my lunch hour, tired of all the standby options and looking for something new.  I stumbled upon Jersey Mike's and realized I'd never been to one of these sandwich shops before.  No time like the present to give it a whirl.  I walked in and saw the place was really busy with hardly an empty table.  The line is confusing and it starts in the middle and then splits into two lines, one heading left and one heading right.  For people like me who are used to sandwich and burrito joints walking you through the design/build of your personal sandwich, this ain't it.  You feel really rushed and unsure about how to order and where to stand while you wait.  I quickly mumbled that I wanted the meatball sub and then waited for them to ask me what I wanted on it.  They just took the order and asked me for my name.  I paid and then tried to stand behind the line, awkwardly with everyone else waiting for their subs.  Eventually, the dude who took my order came around the counter to hand me my sub in person, addressing me by name.  About 10 minutes into the sub, he even came by to ask me how I liked the sub (still remembering to address me by my name).  So for that, I have to say the people who work here are trained to be incredibly nice and super polite.  As for the food however, I felt like the meatball sub was very bland, very large and left a lot to be desired.  Subway's meatball sub is way tastier than this, and for a lot less money.  Granted, I've only tried one sandwich on JM's entire menu, so the jury is still out.  However, I'm not sure that I'll be running back there anytime soon, even if their staff happens to be one of the nicest fast-food crews you'll find on the planet.

This place rules.  It's on my walk home from work, so I stop in a few nights a week to pick up a sandwich for dinner.  The employees are always super friendly and seem happy to be there.  It's a really nice vibe.  I get the Turkey & Provolone on wheat bread every time.  Clearly I think it's a good sandwich.  They slice the meat in front of you, and so it's very fresh.  The bread is also delish.  I get the medium sandwich, and it's more than enough to fill me up.  Might be a bit pricier than other sandwich chains, but the sandwiches are larger and I'll always pay more for fresh.  Especially fresh meat.  Big fan of Jersey Mikes!

    Disaster.

Suuuch friendly, nice and young employees, but the layout is ridiculous. You can't fill a drink at the same time as anyone else, and you definitely can't do it without holding up a line of ten people and spilling stuff everywhere 'cause there's nowhere to put down your bag and chips. Plus, all the lids are split and your drink goes everywhere...

The subs...eh... I got it "Mike's Way," but Jersey and Philly have grit. The food from that region has flavor and bite. This place nets out to being better than Subway at twice the price. So, what's that? It's 3 stars and a longer-than-average wait for your food, people.

I've been a big fan of "Poor Boy" in Maywood, but it's always been out of the way for me. Glad to finally have a Jersey Mikes in the neighborhood. I LOVE "The Original Italian" and tried the Cheesesteak for the first time yesterday. Having lived in Philly for a year I can say it's a nice facsimile, if not the real thing--definitely satisfies the craving! Good staff of enthusiastic, proud people!

I liked the sandwich, less so the blaring TVs that forced the staff to yell to eachother. Must be exhausting working there...

    Restaurant Review
Great service, poor sandwich. I have never had a Jersey Mike sub before and after today I don't think I will go back. Service was great and the staff was quick at making the subs and super friendly as well, but my good vibes ended here. I ended up being a sucker and going for the "famous roast beef and provolone". The certified angus USDA and cooked in shop sold me. I ended up getting the "giant" size which cost surprisingly 12 dollars. The bread itself is fresh and comparable to Jimmy Johns which is right next door. The giant sub was slightly larger than a foot long. My sub was decked out Mike's way with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, vinegar, oil and spices; unfortunately I could not taste the angus beef or provolone and the problem is everything is so thinly sliced that you get no flavor. Half way through the sub, I had to check that they didn't forget the provolone. It was there all 2 mm thin cheese. My wife ended up getting the better choice with the big kahuna 7.xx (i.e. a philly steak like sandwich if you take out the jalapenos.

    Pro- great staff, quick service

Con- lack of meat flavor and cheese gets two thumbs down

I've ate at the Jersey Mike's in Mt. Propsect once or twice and enjoyed the philly cheesesteak, but after having the chicken parm at this location I was totally dissatisfied.  The chicken parm was just unappealing and very bland.    Too much bread and breading on the chicken and not enough cheese.  I might go back and try the cheesesteak again, but I'll stay very clear of the chicken parm.

It is an east coast vs. west coast sandwich standoff in Streeterville! When I saw the signs advertising the new Jersey Mike's right next door to an established Jimmy Johns, I rolled my eyes. Why two sandwich places?

The differences between and thus the need for the two sandwich places soon became clear. I usually eat a vegetarian diet, but when I walked into Jersey Mike's on a cold snowy day I ordered the biggest cheese steak on the menu. I was not disappointed! The bread is so moist and fluffy, the cheese great, and the meat was fine. The cold subs remind me of the deli sandwiches I ate in New York City.

Not the quickest service- but if you need a sub so fast you'll freak, Jimmy Johns is next door. Go to Jersey Mikes for a good quality comfort sandwich.

Damn this place is good!  The #8 is my fav!  Jimmy Johns was next door and it could not compete with JM's!  This place is just damn good!

I went to this Jersey Mike's for the first time today for lunch with a few co-workers and had the Chicken Parm sandwich. The staff was friendly and fun (if a tiny bit over the top) and my sandwich was delicious. I think I might have found another go to spot for my lunch hours.

This place is a cluster you-know-what if I ever saw one. The sandwiches are ok - pretty plain, nothing exciting. But the chaos behind the counter is ridiculous. I counted 15 (!) staff behind the counter as well as 3 on the floor attempting to direct traffic. Even with all of those people, no one knew where to go, who to place their order with, who to ask for what. What a mess. They just opened, so maybe it will calm down in a few weeks and they'll get it together. I dare say less staff would actually be helpful. The subs are pretty forgettable. I'll stick with the Jimmy Johns two stores over. A tastier sandwich in an eighth of the time.

I'm SO happy to have yet another quality lunch option open up near my office! My sandwich (turkey & provolone) was fresh and delicious... I like that they slice the meat in front of you, and it's super thin-sliced, which I love. The bread was fresh... soft with the right amount of crispiness, good topping choices, and they were as fast as they could be, considering the line was insane.

There is a decent amount of seating inside, but it was so crowded, staying there was not an option today. As far as comparing to other sandwich shops, well, I can't even stomach to walk inside a Subway anymore... so I'd say that Jersey Mike's quality is FAR superior to Subway, and better than Jimmy John's as well. I'll definitely be back!
