Yelp lists this location as Near North Side comma River East but I always knew this as Streeterville. Â But I'm not a real estate agent, or really someone who cares so I'm not really sure why I even brought it up. Â I digress.
Emilio's is a Tapas restaurant. Â Honestly, that should be all the description you need. Â Like Greek, Mediterranean and Sushi, I think Tapas restaurants are incredibly homogeneous and interchangeable. Â They are good for groups. Â The food is good and the variety you receive is always welcome. But their menu's are very similar. Â If you set up a blind taste test between Ba-ba-reeba, here and its other location, I can near guarantee I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Â So why am I still talking about this? Â If you are in the mood for tapas or are going out to eat with a group, go here. Or Ba-ba-reeba. Â I don't care and neither will you.
I enjoyed my first visit to Sol y Nieve. We had a fine group head out to Emilio's and the food and service was very good. Kudos to Matt R. for suggesting we go there as he is a big fan.
The sangria was a delight - not to strong and with lots of fruity goodness. As with any good size party, plenty of good menu items were chosen for our consumption. Patatas Con Alioli(garlic potato salad), Gambas A La Plancha(shrimp in lemon butter sauce) and Croquetas De Pollo Y Jamon(chicken and serrano ham croquettes) were instant hits for me and I still left plenty of options for me to try on a return trip.
FYI - The bacon wrapped dates were mighty good  but honestly most things wrapped in bacon will warrant the same reaction from me - Love that mighty swine!
