My favorite part of visiting with my good friend is breakfast. And we've been around. But I have to say you cannot beat Cafe Luna for the simplicity and deliciousness of the food. We're usually here first thing on a Sunday morning, just before the tourists are awake.
Cafe Luna shows that you can still get a delicious, non-greasy, well assembled breakfast without a lot of fuss. This morning I had the special omelette, which was essentially a BLT but no L, substituted for S(pinach). The coffee is good, too. Heck, the gov eats here, too, which goes to show that it's a good value.
Parking is a little trick. You can park in the HoJo lot of the chain's down, but there's also a ton of street parking around the corner and in front.
Cafe Luna doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. It's a simple breakfast joint with the standard fare. There are no frills and the prices are very reasonable.
My group stayed at the Howard Johnson Inn for Lollapalooza (attached to this place). We ate here for breakfast 2 days straight, and it's a great place for a good cheap meal.

We stumbled across Howard Johnson (our name for it) when Yolk switched management and we weren't allow to cut the line of people anymore. Â
The first time we sat our butts in the the booth we knew we would love it. Â They have daily specials that don't look so great on a plate - but taste amazing in your mouth. Â I am pretty sure they cook everything in pure bacon fat and tons of butter, but what do you expect from a greasy spoon! I used to say that Tempo had the best toast, but I am sorry move over Howard Johnson has got it! Â
One great thing about this place is... you can ask them to cook your food exactly how you want it, and they REALLY do it. Â You want your potatoes crispy - you got it. Â Eggs runny? Â They do it! Â They have two servers who are both very sweet and just do their job with out getting all "Friendly's" on your a**!
Its never crazy busy, its quiet even if there are 5 or 6 tables full. Â This is not an organic, eggs hatched by natural sunlight kind of place. Â This is a regular ole diner that is super great!
