My friends and I came in on Friday. Â It was the first time I had gone there for dinner, and not for drinks and partying. Â I was a bit leary after reading the reviews, but boy were they wrong. Â The food was great, the service was great, I had the Lobster Mac which came very highly recommended by our server Corty. Â He was the greatest, and very knowledgable about the restaurant and even invited us back for half off wine on Tuesdays....Who knew. Â I give this place all five stars. Â For a great experience, this is the place to go!
Review Source:Liked the nautical theme and the multilevel space. Definitely feels ship-like as you climb up and up into the Kerryman. I also thought the beer menu was pretty solid offering your typical bar offerings with a few things to appeal to a craft beer snob like myself. A beer menu like that is appealing because I can bring my friends who want something that they've seen a commercial for and I can order something that I've talked to the guy who brews it. Different strokes for different folks. I was not a fan of the bartender who couldn't figure out her soda gun and sprayed us twice. C'mon! Kerryman isn't a place that I'd seek out but wouldn't complain if someone else dragged me here.
Review Source:The Kerryman has always been a great spot to me, especially when I lived right up Chicago a few blocks away-- they have a great St. Patrick's Day crowd and an excellent Irish Cheddar Burger.. but apparently their hiring isn't up to par with their cooking.
The server I had last week was one of the worst. Omero (the server) was basically mute, only repeating things we already stated. Â He didn't even greet us, just walked up to the table and asked what we wanted. Â He was quiet, (in a loud bar during dinner) walked up and down the hallway throwing server books in the air and catching them, unsuccessfully, as well as being overall unfriendly. Â I'm not sure what their training or hiring is like, but this server was not anyone I would have picked to be in any type of customer service position. NO INTERPERSONAL SKILLS.
Very disappointed in the service, the food runners and bussers were much more accommodating and friendly than Omero.
Check out Kerryman for the food and atmosphere but if this experience was any testament to their service quality, don't expect much more than the minimum.
