I would love to give this place 5 stars, as it was my office for years. First of all this is no longer a place to come w/ friends. the music on it's poor vibrating speakers & so f----- loud trust me you will not hear the person next to you. They finally dropped charging
for parking 7 nights a week & only chg to park Thurs thru Sun. $5 incl $ 2.00 off first drink. Yes they were charging $5 park on a empty lot- can u f-----
believe it!!!! Too many undesirable people hanging around & not spending any money.
The owner Sean believes a crowded bar looks like a busy bar. try & use the mens room somewhere where it is clean, this place is gross & filthy. I feel sorry for the bartenders when over 95% of the people (notice I didn't call em customers) don't order anything so they don't spend money or tip. On Sunday nights there is karaoke unbearably loud distorted speakers & strip contest w/the MC "Yelling" in the microphone so loud that the bartender can't hear you if you are one of the very few that will order a drink. yes many times there are 50-75 people & lucky if 10 drinks are ordered, or luckier yet if one of them orders the second drink.
The bartenders 2 of them have been here full time for years are the ones that keep this place going, how much longer they can continue, who knows, After all who wants to come & pay to park on a empty lot noisy bar, filthy men's room ,etc.
I will not give up on this place I heard there will be a new owner--?? Hurry
Rich
Was kinda of disappointed. Had heard alot about this place. Parking sucks. I parked nearby versus valet. It was a Sunday night...so there was no cover. Lots of dancers, but they all looked so young and slim. Only one white dancer had any rhythm. The dancers were trying to get you in back for a private show. I declined. But definitely a place for chicken hawks. If you are into grown looking men than this is not the place. Several of the dancers flirted with me and offered to see me outside of work.
Review Source:Okay, so don't think any differently of me since I'm reviewing a Gay Strip Club, but I have made Johnny's my "home away from home" the last several months after dating a dancer from their Miami location, then continuing to go after we broke up and they closed the Miami location.
First of all, if you aren't into gay strippers, this isn't the place for you. Â It's not a place for girls to come and ogle the dancers, they aren't here for you - they are here for MEN! Â They put great effort into on-stage dancing which entices many to lure them to the back rooms.
During the week, there are lots of great specials which you can take advantage of, including Tuesdays where it's on the 'honor system,' and you pay what you want for drinks, valet and even lap dances!
Johnny's is comfy, like a pair of shoes. Â Once you feel comfy, hang out. Â Dancers are respectful, don't rob you and you can truly have a good time.
It was only a matter of time till I Yelped Johnnys! What can I say? I'm a fan. Drinks, Twinks and good times abound here. Friday nights are best. Plenty of eye candy in the main bar room, and a huge dance floor in the other room playing mostly hip hop. Come with friends, bring singles and make it rain. Â Pwwwt!
Review Source:Bottom-line: friendly, fun, and high-energy. The irony is that my experience at Johnny's was EXACTLY the opposite of what happened at Boardwalk (see my previous review).
Johnny's is a great place from the second you pull into the valet lot. The guys working the valet stand are friendly and welcoming and even the doorman is cool as hell. The bartenders were similarly friendly and made it point to remember my drink after only ordering one.
So here's the funny part--the guys at Boardwalk were actually more my type: a little bigger & more muscled. The dancers at Johnny's tended towards femme and on the twink side of things. While that's not my usual type, I was absolutely impressed that almost every one made it a point to come up to me and introduce themselves, ask me where I was from, etc. NIGHT-AND-DAY contrast from the complete cold-shoulder I'd gotten previously at Boardwalk... and trust me, I'm the same guy.
So I spent ca$h freely at Johnny's... it was just such a cool place that I couldn't help but feel at home there. The dancers worked their asses off while performing and made an effort to circulate and interact. On stage, they gave 110%.
The bar is dark enough to be slightly on the sleazy side (which I like) but without being "seedy" and comfortable in a way that's low on pretense and high on barely-restrained male hormones. If I were rating Johnny on the looks of the dancers, they'd only get four stars, but if I were rating it on how good a time I had, they'd get six. Johnny's earns a full five stars as a "must-visit" for any guy looking for go-go boys strippers. The guys there work as hard as I've seen them work anywhere and if you go with it, you can't help but enjoy the hell out of the ride.
A friend of mine was visiting from out of town and wanted to try this place, as someone had recommended it to him.
As another reviewer pointed out, the parking situation is pretty bad here. Â There's really no place where one can park nearby or in the surrounding neighborhood without being towed. Â If you pull into Johnny's to park, it's $5 to valet and have them park your vehicle in a remote lot, or $8 if you want them to park your vehicle in front of the place so you don't need to wait forever when you're ready to leave.
We paid the cover, went inside and didn't even last 20 minutes here before leaving. Â There are 2 separate rooms at Johnny's, one with a bar, a stripper pole and a dancing cage, the other contains a bar, dance floor and a small stage. Both rooms are small, seating is very limited, it reeks of cigarette smoke (several patrons and at least 3 of the dancers were smoking when we were here), only 1 or 2 models are on stage and dancing at any given time, most of the models on this night were very young (meaning they recently became of legal age to work here, but look even younger), few had any definition or body tone at all (as opposed to the ripped/cut models in the ads for this place) and at least a few of them came on pretty strong, trying to hustle for tips and to sell private dances. When you explain that you've just arrived seconds ago and haven't even had 2 sips from your first beverage yet, that doesn't seem to deter them, either. Â On the upside, drink prices are reasonable for this area.
As far as far as a twink stripper/dancer joint goes; fun and a lot better than most.
If you're into the gay scene of young, and I do mean young, skinny, twink strippers, dancers and a handful of hang around hustlers, this might be heaven for you. The only exception is on Saturday nights Johnny's has instituted an "everybody" night which includes gays, lesbians, bisexuals, or whatever else. Frankly, what was/is the gay community has come up with so many initials like LGBTQ and so forth, no one knows what is what anymore? It's now gotten so ridiculous and out of hand that I've just taken to referring to it all as simply being the QUILTBAG, standing for Queer/Questioning, Undecided, Intersex, Lesbian, Trans, Bisexual, Asexual, Gay. Phew! I'll probably get some flames for that jab, but if any more initials are adding the whole thing is going to look like a bowl of alphabet soup.
Johnny's has two bar rooms, one basically for the dancer/strippers and the other more for the serious drinkers with lower noise volume and offering the opportunity for conversation.
They usually have a five dollar cover charge or something close to that, to get inside and maybe a five dollar parking charge. The place is very popular, so parking can get to be a problem. The parking lot, however, is well guarded and though you may see some low life eyeballing your parked car, it is unlikely that it will be touched.
There is smoking inside, a lot of it, and you can expect the usual "Hello, you're really good looking" type of greeting from the dancers who, of course, expect to be rewarded with a few dollars for hanging around you. Though bothersome to me, that is what a lot of people are there for, so I can't knock it.
Overall, Johnny's is a fun filled place, great for people watching, and certainly with enough young dancing boys to fulfill any twink eye candy needs. The place has been around for years, which attests to its popularity and continued patron interest.
The place isnt too big. Went on a Friday night and it was definitely packed. They had dancers in one room and a decent size dance floor in the other room. The only problem is the smoke in the air; apparently they dont have good ventilation. Thats my only complaint. Other than that, the bartenders were friendly and made the drinks strong. Pricing is moderate for being in Fort Lauderdale. Parking is a bit of a hassle if you dont pay for their valet parkng. Your car will get towed if you park in an area you shouldnt. The DJ spinned well on that Friday night I was there.
