Pirate Republic Bar and Seafood

Food OK, but pretty overpriced, they need room to give the standard 15% discount promoted by the Water Taxi--  I thing the WT folks get a piece of the action if you use the discount.  

Funniest thing was the "catch of the day".  FROZEN!!!  It was Basa fish, a flounder type from Asia.  (China?)  They had supposedly fresh grouper.  And the fries??  Also frozen, a bad choice by restaurant management.  Fresh-cut fries are cheaper for the restaurant, and a million times tastier.

Probably would do Briny Pub 1 stop away, seems like a more reasonable and better menu.

I would give this place 5 stars if I was only commenting on the bar/locale.  It is an awesome place to grab a beer, enjoy the view, and/or wait for the water taxi.  Server's are always nice and attentive and as a local this is definitely not a common theme in Fort Lauderdale.

Bar is open air with a gorgeous breeze blowing off the river.  Laid back Keys feel.

As for the food...I'd say pass.  Wayyyyyy over priced.  Can find other dive type places in Laudy with much better and cheaper food.  I do hear the burgers are good but I don't eat red meat so can't comment on that.  The seafood entree's do look yummy but I'm not paying $30 a plate!
