It's not delivery, it's disgusting! Literally the WORST pizza I have ever had in my life. It arrived luke warm at best, with undead tomatoes on top and no seasoning whatsoever. Truly an abomination. I can only assume know that the reason the place is called "Johnny's" is because it tastes like it came out of the John. I honestly make better pizza with a Boboli crust and ingredients from the supermarket. Hell, even the Blue Moon frozen pizza we buy from Whole Foods is better. MUCH better.
Next time I'm driving to Isabella's in Tarrytown. Annoying that they don't have delivery, but it's worth it. Best Pizza in the river towns.
I was passing by the other day and swooped in for a quick slice which was fresh and great. Â I snatched one and had it in the car fast. Â Thinner than I remembered and very crisp and warm, just the right temp to melt the cheese but not burn the roof of my mouth, excellent as always.
That night, we ordered delivery from Johnny's which we've done before. Â Wanting to change things up a bit, I decided to not order the chicken scarpariello (which I usually get) to try something else. Â I wound up fixating on the tortellini with peas and prosciutto in a "light" cream sauce. Â The pasta was a little overdone which usually does not make me happy and the sauce was anything but light. Â That said however, it was a decent enough dish that I enjoyed regardless and would consider again provided the macaroni was al dente. Â We also ordered an order of chicken balsamic which was terrific and what I should have gotten. Â Someone got the lasagna and was not at all pleased, this was very surprising. Â Suffice it to say it was a mess of red sauce and mozzerella with some noodles and a little ricotta somewhere in the mix. Â At this point, I'll attribute it either to an "off" night or just the wrong dish to get, my humble suggestion is to avoid this particular selection for the many other choices.
I'm thinking a decent choice would be the cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe, from my experience with Johnny's broccoli rabe and sausage slices. Â We've also gotten the chicken parmagiana previously which was well done, thin pounded chicken fried golden brown and topped with a nice marinara sauce and coated with a little browned cheese. Â
Based on numerous experiences with Johnny's, I think they should keep their 4 star rating as a majority of items here are well done with a few exceptions.
