    NO BOUNCERS AND I DIDN'T GET ID'd

Very STRONG CHEAP DRINKS. GREAT HAPPY HOUR.

3 FOR $1 chicken wings on Monday

The most delicious beer battered mushrooms for like $3.

I will definitely be back. I loved the vibes super chill and relaxing.
    So many tvs.

The short haired waitress was the shit. I will definitely back on her shifts.

The younger blonde was a biotch the kind you are so annoyed by you don't want to tip

This would be a classic dive bar, except the lady bartenders don't have a voice like Harvey Weinstein.  They are too nice and attractive.  If that doesn't bother you then you will like this place.  We get together once a week and Foster calls us each by name with a big smile.  Patio is like being at Uncle Fred's during Happy hour and a frat party in the evenings.  Highly recommend.

    Best. Bar. Ever.

From the guy checking IDs at the door, to the fabulous bartenders, to the stiff drinks, to the karaoke/trivia/beer pong/2-4-1/music video nights, all the way to the end of the night last calls, everything is just great! The first time I came here I was hooked, and have been back many times since. The crowd is always..interesting, but always a ton of fun!!! I have never had a dull minute here and can't wait to come back!

Randomly went here one night with a couple friends.  Pretty young crowd.  Bartenders very attentive and friendly, bouncers and karaoke DJ were very nice.  Nothing fancy, just a cheap bar with cheap drinks.  But we had a great time, and I'm praising this place for excellent service, friendly staff and good crowd :D

This dive is a few blocks from our rehearsal spot, which makes me wonder why we don't frequent it more than we do. Cheap beers, food and women. Go to have a few drinks and a good time...not to get lucky (even though you just might).

An oldie but a goodie! Great local neighborhood bar! Was a great and regular spot during college and still found myself coming here on the regular. Small and defintely fits that divey feel. Great crowds- friendly and diverse.

Loved the back patio where their local djs and bands would perform. Parking lot is a little small but finding parking within a couple blocks down or across the street isn't hard.

There are some cute bartenders that pour a mean drink. Stopped by once during Halloween and it was a goooood night.... mmm hmmm ;) Even got to know the bar manager, Mark. Got my first SCOOBY SNACK from him- didn't know what the hell it was before. MMMmmMmm chocolate oatmeal. OoOoO and he's the only one I know that makes JALAPENO POPPER shots. Sweet STRONG shot with that spiicy kick. LOVE IT! I've asked for it at other bars and they don't have a clue how to make it.

They've got a pool table but useable at none peak bar hours. Otherwise, used as a comfortable velvet seat on a night out. ;p

Overall, great place to bring a group of friends, cheap strong drinks, lbeen here a bunch of times and haven't had a bad night yet!

It's a sports bar in Mission Valley. Enough said.
The bouncers were polite though. That is appreciated.
Parking can be a little difficult but there is lot which when I saw it was mostly double parked in each spot.

The back patio hosts bands from time to time with plenty of space. There is a big hole in the patio which is good to funnel out the smoke but is obviously lousy for when it rains, but how often does that happen.

This place is just off the freeway. Not much to look at on the outside and the usual divey pub feel inside but this review is for how fantastic Brian, the cook is! He made my girl and I an incredible burger! They use top quality beef at this place as I heard they have a partnership with a local butcher. Comes fresh daily. The meat was perfectly smokey, crispy on the edges, succulent & juicy in the middle. Brian will make it to any specifications you like. Chedder, Swiss cheese. Avocado. The bacon lightly crispy & thick cut. Somedays they marinate it in honey.
The only thing I would change is the bun, bit too bready but Brian said when he is on shift you can bring in your own brioche bun or doughnut as he's speciality is a glazed doughnut burger.
He has quite a following. Customers come in just for his burgers on the days he works.

Friday Night, just got pade... treated my friend to a belated drink at JT's. We had a few Moscow Mules and shared a plate of NA-CHOS-CHEESE with Meat. Place Wasnt to crazy, considering it was St. Patricks weekend and its an Irish Pub.  Will be back again for sure to throw back a few with her.

Used to love coming here, but no more.  Mark (bartender that we knew really well in the past - and he USED to be friendly, pour great drinks and be super quick with service) took forever to greet us even though the bar wasn't busy yet, the drinks he poured we're mostly soda and very little alcohol, his attitude was cold and almost rude and he pretty much ignored us when we went to tab out. This will be the last time we come to JT's - there are PLENTY of bars that are fun, have good service and great bartenders.  Management needs to have an attitude adjustment talk with Mark b/c they just lost 4 great customers b/c of him.

This bar is the worst! The bartender not only set up shots for himself on my tab, but gave half the bar shots as well. After giving the bartender $40 in cash he proceeded to charge the full amount of the tab to my credit card and take the money as a person tip. Know that you may get ripped off  at this bar.

JT's is great. This is my spot on week nights after work. There's always a good food special (though I still haven't been able to try Taco-Tuesday!) and drinks are reasonably priced.

I know experiences vary, but bartenders have always been super chill with me. Patrons are also good - pretty relaxed crowd. This is a cut above a dive bar. Plenty of tv's always showing sports. Good atmosphere to get away from it all!

You may say, 5 stars is bit rich for a dive. But this is a perfect example of a dive bar. It's not trashy, its simple and bare bones. Its not one of those ironically divey hipster bars. The crowd is pleasant. You could drum up a conversation with a stranger, meet with work friends, watch the game or sulk alone at the end of the bar and get some time to reflect over a beer. The food is good bar food at a good price. The beer selection is strong, they have Goose Island, a Chicago brewery that doesn't get its fair shake in this local beer driven environment in San Diego. They also have all the local faves and more. Cheap shots, strong pours. Great place to warm up before a Qualcomm event. Definitely worth a stop. If you live in Grantville, this should be the only bar you need.

JT's always has a fun crowd and current music.

My Tokyo Ice Tea was mediocre tasting. The prices are low. The fish sandwich I had there on Friday was amazing!

Rock-out karoke was loud in  a small room of their own-  so I will bring earplugs next time to protect my hearing and enjoy them more.

I had a great time overall.

    Always do.

PS. They have a TON of parking in the back.

Standard dive bar/sports bar/douchbag bar, pool, karaoke, everyone smokes ciggs and cant sing.  The crowd is mostly regulars, around 30 years old on weekdays, and weekends is a 20's college crowd.  Everyone getting wasted and trying to be cool.

All the regulars and staff went on a double decker party bus pub crawl through North Park last summer to benefit the make a wish foundation.  It was lots of fun, we had matching T-Shirts and everything. + a BBQ once we returned to the bar, good times.

    Dear JT's F-U
I do like your beer, food and many tvs
One thing you do NOT DO is mess with my money
Later that night I found a 90 something charge on top of my original 30 something charge 30 I accept. 90 between myself and a couple friends crap! FU
Went there spoke with Bo who said a manger would call me about the charges never happened
Called my bank to zap the bs charges an unneeded hassle which they did
Word to the wise to anyone stopping in use cash and don't expect a manger to be there

This is a chill little place off Mission Gorge.  When I say little, it looks pretty small until you realize they have an outdoor patio.  Nice!

I went there last weekend to see Bare Bones play and they played in the outdoor patio. There was a full moon and there are open areas in the roof where you can see the moon so that was great.  The service was excellent! Fast and friendly. Its like visiting a friends house and having fun the backyard with great beer and fun music.

My only -1 star was that after 10 or so the patio filled with smokers.  I think every smoker in east county was there, and I don't blame them, but as a non smoker it was a bit much.

We left but would love to come back, fun place!

O man....there's no charm, lack of wall decorations and not much of an ambiance.
So why do I love this place?

Everyone here is almost like family. Everyone here gets drunk together and karaokes at the top of their lungs and nobody judges you :)

There's plenty of bar space for everyone to sit/stand and converse. The food pub here is AMAZING. I ordered the meatball sliders. They put gigantic meatballs in between those Hawaiian sweet breadrolls. OMG SO GOOOOOD!!! Not to mention the MONSTER serving of tater tots in my tray, fried perfectly of course. and 3 wings for a dollar!!! sign me up

They also mix some good drinks and the bartenders treat their customers with respect.

Trust me, come here once and you will be an addict for life.

FYI, this place is in the middle of the most random location in the Mission Valley. It's next to a dry cleaning place and a pet store.

Why the hell does everyone in this bar actually have a singing voice for karaoke?

Great bar.  They ALMOST don't look at you twice when you get up after your third long island to croak out "Paint in Black."  For the record (and no offense to the Rolling Stones for a great tune)- WORST karaoke song.  Ever.  The lasting memory of that performance occasionally still haunts my dreams.

JTs... not to impress, but definitely to leave an impression.

All went very well. Nice little sports bar, tucked away, lots of TVs for your favorite game, constantly running.
Food/drink specials, food was typical pub fare, beers were cheap. I can see the place being full with a big event on, but even for Saturday brunch, a few of us easily stayed all afternoon. This just feels like a solid neighborhood bar. They will definitely see me again.

My favorite place to meet up with friends for a drink. The staff is unbelievably friendly and the drinks are always great. The layout makes it perfect for a diverse group of people. Great for watching football, and Kareoke is always awesome. The back patio has heaters for those who like to step outside for a smoke but don't want to freeze. My only complaint is that they only have one pool table but with how many other games they have, I really can't complain at all! Beer pong table in the patio? Yes please!

This place is a decent watering hole.  I like it.  A lot of Military people here (not a bad thing, but to some it is).
Of course you got  your dbags there too.  But, overall, their selection of beer on tap is great and spirits are strong.  Food is okay

    Parking sucks.

The bartenders are awesome, the food is far better than one would expect, on fridays and Saturdays there is a good amount of almost out of place hotties.

    Why rate it four stars?

They used to have by far the best snakebites in town... but they apparently stopped carrying the pear cider that was used for them... so its 4-stars due to heartbreak...

    Great little dive bar.

This place never failed to give me a good time,
by making some of the most ridiculous decisions i have made in my life.

    The bartenders are sooo friendly!
They always give you a much stronger drink than what you really wanted.
With that being said, it doesn't taste that good..
but hey! who'll say no to "more than enough" alcohol? haha..

It sucks that it only has one pool table,
that usually one asshole would try to occupy the whole night,
not giving a chance for others to play.
I mean, i am not trying to play all night and if i do
i would've gone to a real pool place, so please Mr. Asshole,
next time you and your douche-y friends try to play,
    GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Karaoke nights are awesome!!! Whether you suck
or you're Miss American Idol, NO ONE CARES! Everybody gets along.

They also serve regular finger food.
But if you just want to munch on something,
there's a popcorn machine in the back corner, FO' FREE!!!!!!!

If you found yourself hungry when the kitchen closes at 10pm,
bartenders can cook you some pizza right off the bar.

The back-half of this place is outdoors. Good for smokers and some air..
not that fresh air, because of the.. smokers like i said!
But it's nice because you can play beer pong and corn hole in there.
    FUN, right?

Dress casual in this place, and you'd still get hit on. If you try to dress over-the-top, you'd still be looked at as if you're wearing some jeans and shirt..
    so why bother! haha

LOOOOOOOVE this place. A great hang-out with amazing people to spend the good time with!!!

I've been coming to this bar since 2008. I live in South Pasadena (Los Angeles for some of you who dont know where that is) and I've been driving to San Diego almost every weekend. So for me to drive there every weekend... you must say.. this place has to be bangin. Of course now I'm a regular ;D

Anyways... its pretty much a dive bar. They karaoke every other day. Its pretty awesome... its run by Chad usually. If you give him a tip.. he'll  bounce you up a couple of people ;-P

The bartenders are AWESOMEEEE!!!! I dont even know there to begin lmao... I like them all... If you start to go there often they eventually will call you by name... makes u feel a bit special!

Anyways.. when you first get to the door... there is someone there to check your ID. you walk in.. and the bar is smack dab right thurr. to the right a pool table and further beyond that is the bathrooms. To the left of a couple of bar tables and some chairs... and further beyond that is the juke box and further beyond that is the outside patio... the music from the juke box plays outside... so if you wanna dace your free to. They have live bands sometimes out there too.

I like this place because I can be me.. and be free. I've met so many people there because everyone is so friendly. oh.. they have a lotto machine in there for you lotto players.. actually its like one of thoe dispensers for like.. lotto GAMES.. dont know the name of it lol.. they have a popcorn machine.. and a spin drink thingy. like. you spend the thingy.. and it tells you what drink u drink...

diverse crowd too. im not the only black person there ahahahaha.

they have a lot of tvs too. its like everywhere i look theres a tv.. so if you want to watch a game of even sing karoke along with everyone else.. you can! woop woop.

I recommend this place to all my friends... they all love it as well...

    PS.
I'm lowkey addicted.. I CANT HELP IT!!! LMAO

Wednesdays are no longer $3 you-call-its.  Instead, they're buy-one-get-one-free, which is probably the better deal here at JT's.

Also, there's karaoke almost every night (except I think Wednesday).

We've become regulars here.  We know a good amount of the staff here.  Chad who works the music/karaoke.  Matt and Bo and Foster who make some pretty ill drinks and pour it nice and generous.  Likewise, be sure to tip generously.

Then there's the guy who works the kitchen.  Forgot his name, but on karaoke nights he loves to sing the Sublime songs.  Cool guy.

But besides all that, everything's consistent with my previous review.  It's a little dive bar next to an auto mall.  There's a lot of regulars, but no one's pretentious.  And you can play board games while you drink.  My fave is pop-o-matic Trouble.

    Review Source:

The 80's music on Wednesdays gets LOUD!  With a pool table at only $0.75 a game, and a shuffleboard table set up in the back, you can keep yourself entertained between drinks without breaking the bank.  Add onto that the cheap prices and good pours, and you've got yourself a good night of fun without putting a dent in your savings.

Wednesdays are also buy-one-get-one drinks.  It's a bit odd - after you buy a drink, they give you a token that you can use to get your second drink, but for some reason you're not allowed to just buy two drinks at once for the price of one.  Also, Irish Car Bombs are 2 tokens, not one.  *shrug* still a pretty decent deal over the extent of the night.

When I was last there, they also had the Bacardi girls there with their own set of games to play, prizes, and free tastes of their drinks.

I can see why JT's has such a good following - this is how dive bars should be.

I had no idea what to expect when I was invited here by a friend. We came on a Wednesday night and 80's music was blaring. Not just any 80's music... it was all the good stuff. Love :)

And then I proceed to find out that it's 3 dollar "you call it" night. 3 dollars for ANY drink. What?!?!?!?!?! That's SO FREAKING AWESOME. Of course, I got my Jim and Coke (which they made very deliciously strong) and wandered around the place.

This bar has a very large area, partially indoor, partially outdoor. I spent the majority of my time playing shuffle board (yes, shuffle board! so cool!). In addition to shuffle board, they offered board games like trouble, connect four, apples to apples, etc (so COOL). There's also enough room for people to dance if you'd like AND a pool table. And if that's not wonderful enough, they have a popcorn maker and give out free popcorn! and it's good popcorn, believe me, I'm a popcorn snob :) And to top it all off, the bartenders are really nice, helpful, and fast with the drinks.

JT's is awesomeeee. I can't wait to come back :)

Truth be told, I'm a dive girl at heart. I didn't even realize I enjoyed such an eclectic atmosphere up until I accidentally step foot into one a few years ago. These days if I do the dive scene, I make sure I'm aware of what I'm walking into.

You can't take the facade of these places at face value. Inside some of those dingy walls holds a plothera of characters, fun times and great stories. Which is probably why I like dives. Though the other end of that skittle colored rainbow are watering holes that just does not serve up a jack daniel's coke and a smile. The dark and gloomy ones that look like it hasn't been updated since the Brady Bunch first went on air. Where someone is sitting comfortably slouched over at the bar, halfway inebriated, in their pjs and slippers. All the while grasping for dear life, a mug of beer. So, if you're on antidepressants, it may be wise to stay clear of those.

Now JT's, I like. My first time here may have been a little blurry but it is one of my fondest memories, near and dear to my heart. Good times...good times. Hmm...oh.. back to the review. It's a pretty decent bar that fries up decent grub. They have TVs both inside and in the patio area, pool table, jukebox, shuffleboard, karaoke and possibly a dartboard (that, I need to double check on though) to keep even an adult ADD patient entertained, or you just chill and hang out. You'll be seeing it's share of those everyday hardworking people. They''ll be sitting up at the bar M-F, after the 5pm whistle blows. Mixed in there are the younger patrons who casually stroll in, orders a pitcher of good old american beer, puts a couple of quarters in the jukebox and shoots pool. Overall, a diverse crowd with a common love of strong drinks and cheap booze.

Yup, this "pub and grill" is undoubtedly low key. A simple bar where one can just walk right on in with ease, chatter it up with the bartenders and have a semi-interesting conversation with the neighboring stool mate.  After work, stop on by for an ice cold bottle of domestic beer, watch some sports or highlights and just chilllaax. Or if you're not much of a solo wanderer such as myself, get a group of friends, grab a table and have some laughs. Either way, good times...good times.

And lastly, for the nightlife, there's no dress code except for that silly shoes and shirt part. I can come out in my sweatpants, hair tied, and chill with no makeup on and still have a completely fun and crazy night without dealing with all that downtown bs. And maybe after a few of those stiff cocktails that they serve up starts to kick into gear on a karaoke night, that I may just end up surrendering myself and let liquid courage take over to get up and sing "Build Me Up Buttercup".

Ahhh, nope, I've never done that. Naaah. Not I.

Problem:  This is where all the "I still live at home" people that went to Patrick Henry H.S. (Where i did go) hang out every night with the same people who are still doing the same thing they were 4 years ago.  So for that and im sick of seeing girls who used to be hot who are now pushing 175lbs but can drink you under the table I wont be making a cameo at JTs anytime soon...

    Free Beer!

Well, sort of. January's Beer Club meeting brought me to JT's Pub and Grill. Let's get down to the nitty gritty...

    The Good
    - Surprisingly enough, they had a fair amount of good beer (along with the usual crap, I mean Bud).
    - Staff wasn't too bad. If anything they were REAL people. You know the kind that are witty and somewhat care, but not in a kiss-ass sort of way.
    - The bar food wasn't 5-star, but you got a ton of it which made it somewhat worthwhile.
    - Free popcorn. If you were broke like me, you'd be eating bowls of this stuff.

    The Bad
    - Now the food was a plenty, but it was also plenty of cash! Bring it down a buck. I'm trying to maximize my drinking to food to tip ratio.
    - PARKING! It's in a mini-mini-minimall complete with tanning salon and pool repair shop. There are 1.5 parking spots go get there early!

I hear this place gets crowded with Charger fans during game times. They have enough tv's to present the event, but how many people fit into this sports-dive-feel bar?

    3 stars for being A-OK.

I just went to JT's last night and also over the weekend and noticed that they remodeled the whole back patio area...and it looks pretty awesome! The back is more open and seems to have more seating than before. When I used to go back there I always felt like I was in someones cramped back yard that they havent bothered to clean up since 3 keggers ago.  But it looks like they put in some new tvs and the overhead lights look awesome.  Perfect amount of lighting.  It even looked like the employees were coming out to clean the tables regularly, which is a change of pace from what I remember...
Ive never had a bad experience with the bartenders, but I wanted to mention that last night they were particularly friendly and it was much appreciated.

This is one of the weirdest bars in San Diego. Weird location, weird atmosphere.  I've only been on the weekends, and never knew about Wednesday nights until I read the other reviews. I'm too old to be going out like that on a Wednesday, anyway.
You think it's a divey sports bar. But it's secretly a meat market with karaoke.  But meat-markety in a casual, friendly neighborhood kind of way. Good for folks who don't want to go home with with someone who lives on the other side of the county - if they're at JT's, there's a good chance that home is within a 5 mile radius.
Big plusses:  big patio with plenty of seats, entertainingly bad renditions of bad songs, and reasonably priced stiff drinks. Also I've never had to wait to use the restroom here. Probably because it's 70% dudes.

So, here's the funny thing about JT's:

It's in a strip mall parking lot across the street from Home Depot, right off the Fairmont Ave/Mission Gorge highway thingie. It looks like a divey sports bar because it has an awning that says in huge bubble letters "JT's Clubhouse. Karaoke. Pool" or something equally tacky. And hello, it's in a strip mall! Not even the kind with a chain restaurant. The kind where real people get real services done. Who goes out somewhere like that?!?

Wanting to go out for a beer and maybe sing some karaoke with off-duty construction workers (because really who doesn't), I took two friends out with me to JT's. It's Wednesday, 9:30PM and there's a line to get in. What the...?!?

Guess I got this place wrong. Maybe other nights it's a sports/dive bar, but on Wednesday nights, it's a dance party for State undergrads. JT's has a side patio that's fenced in, decorated with Christmas lights, and it was packed by 10PM. When I mean packed, I'm saying you need to wear a tank top under your coat, and plan on wearing only that (even if it's really cold outside) because you WILL be sweating after five minutes smashed up next to some kid grinding on your leg. Throw in the turntables and the young G's, and it's like an Asian American version of Snoop's "Gin and Juice" video, which most of the people here are probably too young to remember.

Needless to say, I heart this place. Makes me feel like an underage high schooler sneaking into the cool kids' house party. Only now I'm older than they are, so they gotta respeck. What.
