This bar is awesome as fuck. Had the privilege of having the gorgeous bartender named Sarah attend me while I had my drinks and they played Irish music. I will definitely come back quite often.

My wife and I couldn't resist coming here on the 4th of July which is also my birthday. The bartenders are terrific and even shouted me a free beer for my birthday.Dan took care of business nicely on the karaoke and everybody had a great time.I bought one beer all night because friendly strangers kept buying me beers. We don't come here often but when we do it's always fun.

This used to be my fave place in SD although they since (abt 20 yrs ago I mean!)  have changed the place to make it better lit and more friendly towards those of us who don't mind being able to see their booth mates.

I like this place, though.  It is inexpensive and awesome.  Avoid Quaalcom Karaoke Night which is its own form of torture.  They do have a jukebox, though.  They also have live entertainment.  On the nights they do (and on karaoke nights), don't expect to have an intimate conversation with anyone.  I only go when it's not like that.  Of course, if you're going for the music, they do have some nice acts there.  =)

You will want to stick to beer and hard single-type liquor (Whiskey on the rocks, bourbon, Guinness) and not mixed drinks like margaritas or maitais or what have you.  EXCEPT if this dude Rudy is working, cause that boy can make a mixed drink.

These bars have come up around it that really aren't all that - this place is solid and in there for good.  Lotsa Irish patrons and bartenders (hence the crappy mixed drinks).  Great place to grab a drink with a friend when you actually wanna hear what they hafta say.

The booths are 14 shades of hip and you can gather there and quietly visit or sit at the bar and be super social cause the patrons totally talk to one another in a kinda Irish Pub type of way.

If I had to suggest one thing it would be get more local beer in bottles (to appease the Beer Nazis) and work on at least a couple of mixed drinks, okay?  When I decide to NOT go to "the Sod", it's because I want a mixed drink that is yummy.  That's pretty much my decision-making process.  (I can't drink beer due to gluten so hard alcohol is pretty much what I have.)  So please don't make me go to "it" (meaning the horrible giant Walmart of a bar next door)

Fun LE Fact: The Ould Sod is home of the 2nd worst margarita I've ever had in my entire life.  The first worst was in Hamburg, Germany.

PS they also have these crazy drink specials.  I'm not sure which nights.  But basically order 2 drinks of the same kind and they will sell you a third for 1c.  Or something.

But go to the Sod, it's awesome!
