We happened upon Kaluz and had a wonderful meal! We sat outside, despite it being COLD for South Florida, and ordered the ceviche, filet with baked potato and caesar salad. The ceviche was very good (even though I don't like salmon) and the filet was AMAZING. Great service, ambiance, and food! We'll definitely be back.

"This is just a preliminary review as I had only light bites. I had a flat bread for an appetizer. It was delightful...equal or better than the flat breads at Seasons 52, which are terrific.

For my entree, I had the Thai noodles and shrimp salad.  Really terrific, especially if you like things a little spicy.  Portion size is good.   Wine prices are unnecessarily high.  Cheapest glass of wine is $10

Service is excellent.  Staff has had some good training.  Forgot to mention the place is beautiful with great  water views.  And high ceilings keeps the noise level down

Since starting this review I was back again.  Everything is still good, but the word is now out and it is getting very crowded.  Parties of four cannot make reservations and the wait time can be lengthy.

They also need to handle the valet parking better. If a dozen cars are in line waiting to get in, while you are leaving, the valet has to put your car at that back of the same line for you to leave :(   That needs to be fixed pronto.

Nice place, average food and service.  They spent some money on the place...they should spend some more on better cooks/menu and training for their staff.  Food was average.  Had tuna tartare..it was very bland. The lamb chop dinner was so so..for the price it needed to be great.  Our waiter would disappear for a little bit sometimes and he also screwed up my order(wrong side and double charged) , at least he was nice.  My girlfriend had lamb burger and that was excellent.  Another person had the filet and that was good but again for the price it wasnt good enough.  I've had better food at Carrabas.  Id rather go across the water to benihana, at least you know what you're going to get.

Have been to Kaluz twice since our initial visit on Valentine's Day, for which we posted first review. On these additional evenings, equally delighted with food, service and atmosphere...even bigger crowds now, but it seems as though it is being handled very well.  We will continue to be frequent guests!  Joan & Joe

Amazing new restaurant. The atmosphere is almost like sitting on the beach. Our waitress Sarah gave the best service! The ceviche was fresh and delicious, the tartar was good but chips were stale. The Lamb goat cheese burger was insane, didn't leave a crumb. Def a regular new spot.

Kaluz is a great addition to the Ft. Lauderdale restaurant scene. The food is excellent, the ambience is contemporary and comfortable and the service is attentive. The floor to ceiling windows enhance the beautiful intracoastal view. I had a small half roast chicken with a wedge salad that was terrific (the bacon lardons are to die for) and my partner had, as he put it, one of the best pieces of prime rib he ever had. The prices are moderate and the portion sizes are just right. I highly recommend it!!

I like lamb very much so I was thrilled they have a lamb burger and especially  they cooked it the way I like which is rare.. It was not only juicy but delicious with goat cheese on top . Looking forward to going back!

We ate there this Thursday at 6:30 PM. It was getting full, but we got a large booth (with a full view of the  inter-coastal and bridge). The small center bar gets busy, but I don't think they have a happy hr, and the bar only serves the main menu. Later on we went outside and there is a lovely waterview bar with TV's and an outside seating area right on the water.

There's valet parking or use the hundreds of free (after 6) meter spots in the parking strip along Comml. The privacy inside is fine at most of the tables, esp. the booths along the wall.

The food is very good, but a it is small menu. As an app. I tried a strange shrimp dish with melted cheese done like escargot. Wow!  What a pleasant surprise. I also had the pork ribs, which were fantastic, as were the shoestring fries. The food came fast, and the waiter was friendly and very helpful. They also have smoked beef ribs. It is not a steak house, with filet as the only steak I saw on the menu. The salads, flatbreads and a chicken main course were also excellent.

All 4 of us were full and happy. The food prices are mid-range, but a bit high on the beer ($5.50 draft) and a $9 glass of house wine.  They are off to a good start. A few more dishes, and a small drop in price, a happy hr and early bird  will keep them from failing like so many of the higher priced local attempts.

I had my first visit to Kaluz and it was a real pleasure. I'm not sure the exact origin of their rather none descriptive name other than I was told that the "K" is derived from the name of the owners main restaurant located in Argentina, the "al" and the "uz" from letters in the name of the owners sons.

It's located on a splendid Intracoastal waterfront location formerly being that of Stan's and the old toss your peanut shells on the floor Roadhouse, however, those former structures were completely demolished and Kaluz definitely stands as one of the finer architecturally designed establishments with a simple understated classy type of modern decor about it.

It has inside and out side bar areas, an inside dinning area as well as an outside patio dinning area, boat docking with an attendant to assist with docking lines, courtesy valet parking and a superlative professional informative and helpful wait staff which I found surprising since they just opened.

Though the splendors of my waterfront view were ruinously shattered by a fat lady in an ill fitting as well as ill suited bikini who while disembarking a boat suffer a major wardrobe failure exposing my delicate eyes to her pendulous mammary glands, the basic Intracoastal view along with ambiance it affords is about as good as it gets.

Checking my Yelp I see that Kaluz already has a solid five star rating but you can put a grain of salt in that in that three of those are obviously not only one time but also first time reviews, written in similar style and the others with a rather questionable history of  Five Stars ratings unless you're willing to believe second rate sub shops and big chain Longhorns restaurants are Five Star deserving.Hence my off hand opinion that thy're either bogus or simply irrelevant. It's shame that's being done under the name of Yelp because Kaluz is good enough on its own without any need for falsification as to its quality.

I started off with the ceviche and to my delight it turned out to be one of the best cerviches ever and was served with perfect presentation. For my entree I had the grilled sword fish with herb butter and green beans. Again, nicely presented with both having been perfectly prepared. I also had a couple of their bar margaritas which were good but at $12 a piece I would have either expected better or at less of a price.

Basically since I've only eaten here once to date I'm not about to give it my coveted Five Stars particularly since the competition across the canal such as Sea and Blue Moon are both somewhat superior food wise in uniqueness of preparation, taste, quality and general bang for the buck. However, I have little problem giving Kaluz a solid Four Star approval.

Last night my family had a wonderful dining experience at Kaluz Restaurant. This beautifully appointed restaurant (both inside and out) offered unobstructed views of the Intracoastal Waterway through what seems like 30' high glass windows and the outside deck and patio is both intimate and comfortable. But the food and service are 5 star.our waiter suggested a delicious Pinot Noir and the appetizer my wife and I shared (a ginger Calamari) was tasty and large. She ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon which she enjoyed tremendously, and I had the Barbeque Beef Ribs which was ample (I needed a doggie bag) and absolutely succulent. My son and his girlfriend are vegetarian, so they had a selection of salads and the Veggie Burger. We had a wonder time experience, and I will be back frequently! This is a 5 Star restaurant!

    The service was impeccable.

The team was well trained, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.  If you are interested in some delicious wine to pair with your meal, ask for Scott.  He suggested a few different delicious wines, and we shared a chat about why each one was a good fit, and what characteristics made it a match.  The service alone would have made the night a success.

The ambiance was great, both indoors (more formal, elegant) and out (more casual, on the intercoastal, bar/lounge setting).

Food was delicious too, and my wife and I enjoyed the crab dip, ribs, salmon, and brownie.

Food was excellent, service was great, view of the intercoastal is beautiful, and wide variety of gluten free menu items.
