I believe this place is now closed, which is a shame, as it had the potential to be something awesome! The food was always pretty good, albeit a bit pricey, the space beautiful and the owners very friendly.
However, it couldn't really make up its mind if it wanted to be a martini bar, nightclub or a restaurant. Plus service was often slow, and the drinks really not that good for the price. I think it's best to excel at one thing, rather than do several things to a mediocre standard. The menu was better and more affordable when it was based around tapas, rather than entrees, and the drinks lacked any imaginative flair or real knowledge of cocktail making.
I wish the owners better luck for the future!
While I would have liked to try this place during dinner hours, my one and only [NEAR] nightly experience here has turned me off from trying (along with such other horrible reviews.)
One Saturday after sushi nearby, friends and I decided to check this place out. Â It was about eight of us and with a hefty cover charge of 10$, they would have made off well...had we even walked in.
The bouncer who I will name Big Pauly, 6'3, about 300 pounds and grumpy as all hell, was clad in a DTF shirt and baggy jeans. Â My friendly group walked up eager to check this place out as we had never been before, but upon hearing the bogus door fee, we asked to check it out inside first.
I walked ahead a bit, but soon the bouncer was covering my view of the door, saying No, you have to pay to get in, you can't check it out. Â Are you kidding??? Well you dumb oaf, I'm about 6'2 in stilettos and was still able to see.... A lame band still setting up at nearly 11pm and about 4 patrons at the bar.
Yeah.
Real poppin in here.
Laughed about the door charge, the lack of anything enjoyable inside, and not to mention..nice try with the DTF shirt buddy. Â No one is going to take you up on that.
Sucks b/c I really wanted to try it out, but nope, you turned me off completely
My husband and I enjoyed our visit to Karma Lounge. We had 2 glasses of Chardonnay wine, calamari as an appetizer, which was a generous size with two sauces, and a mix green salad, which we shared, Â Crostini Bread with asiago cheese and Balsamic vinaigrette sauce was complementary. Â Our entrees were Pork Shank, and Breast of Duck, both with fingerling potatoes. Â Both dishes were very tasty. Â The music was also nice. Â We arrived at 7:30 pm on a Friday, and it had several people on the bar side which is where we decided to sit. Â Some people were talking a little loud over the music, but were not annoying. Â If you want a quieter dinner, choose the other side outside the bar area. Â There were several couples sitting there when we were leaving. We placed our entire order at one time, so everything came out in a timely manner but we did leave about 10:00 pm. Â It was a relaxing evening and definitely a place we would visit again. Â We also had a Groupon Coupon so we saved about $30 on our entire meal.
