Killkenny's is cool. A group of us in town from work came in to watch the series and absolutely slammed them but the bar tender was cool about it and we helped pass out buckets of buds AND coors and had a great time.
She even returned someones credit card after he forgot it was on tab and left so we could make fun of him at the company meeting the next day, and return it safely.
Ill be back next time I'm in SL.
An Irish pub in central Clayton? Â I know it seems a little bipolar, but Kilkenny's pulls it off pretty well. Â An overwhelmingly wooden interior with plenty of booths and beer on tap (including Kilkenny's). Â I usually go here with a few friends when I want to grab a beer singular because it can get pricey, but I look forward to trying the happy hour.
Review Source:Kilkenny's is one of my favorite spots on Thursday and Saturday nights. Â The atmosphere is casual cool, with oversized booths that'll hold a group of 8 if you squeeze in pretty tight. Â This is a great spot if you want to avoid the "$30,000-millionaire" types that are all about flash and pomp. Â
A bit of a "hole-in-the-wall" this place has a good vibe, and I've always found the other patrons to be pretty laid back, easy to strike up a conversation with too. Â
Good beer selection...the bartenders are quick with your drink order too. Â I like the Kilkenny Cream Ale that they usually have on tap.
Shotgun Irish sports pub with 12 beers on draft/ tons in bottles and 7 HUGE 6 uncomfortable guys or 10 cozy girls wood booths & 4 nice HDTV flat panels hanging from the wall with actual high-def feeds. Â The walls are faux distressed, the floor is plywood and the wood booths have some bottle cap circles drilled into them. Â The decor is a mix of beer neons & cans, sports jerseys and equestrian posters.
This is Clayton's created dive bar, but through the years it has developed a true personality. Â I liked that I arrived after midnight during the week and the place was still had 15 people and 5 of which were women! Â The next time I came in before 10 to eat and there was a couple booths of young women & this is suppose to be a DIVE BAR!
I got the blackened burger with blue cheese and onion rings for under $8. Â Nice crisp onion rings and the burger had taste like the bartender described, grass fed beef... I not sure I can taste that for sure, but it was very good.
The music was piped in satellite playing an interesting blend of recognizable mostly "garage" rock, some old school mix and reggae (?) I am not complaining- I was just surprised.
If you are looking for the place it is just south of the alley. Â I drove past for years without seeing it & in Clayton! Â (BUT SMOKING IS ALLOWED???)
Terrible experience with a very rude bartender named kat. Talked to manager he was understanding but did not make up for the horrible service and attitude we received. Always loved this place and spent lots of time and money here. There are lots of great places in clayton. Don't waste your time or money here. Check out jp fields, Barcelona, or roxanne! Much better service and the atmosphere attracts better people than the Kilkennys crew which is usually just filled with it's own bartenders as patrons!
Review Source:Oh how I love this establishment. Â From high school to coming back home after college, this place always delivers familiar faces and a warm smokey booze laden environment where minors and those of age mix and mingle with ease.
Lots of beers on tap and always crowded and cozy around the holidays Kilkenny's always delivers a fine drinking experience
Kilkenny's is a great unpretentious place to grab a couple beers and watch the game when you're in Clayton (or the surrounding areas). Â During my most recent visit, my friends and I were looking to watch Mizzou kick Nebraska's butts in college football, and Kilkenny's multiple flat screen TVs allowed us to do just that.
They have a huge selection of beers on draught, with many more by the bottle. Â There's also a full bar if you're not much of a beer drinker. Â As there is a severe lack of sports bars in my neck of the St. Louis woods (U. City), Kilkenny's is easily the closest and most reasonable option for all my gameday needs! Â It's also a great place to walk to if you're in Clayton for a wedding or other social function and they've closed down.
I can't break this four star streak...so here I go!
I'll be the first to admit, I am not the biggest fan of going out in Clayton at night. Â I will make a few exceptions to that rule, and Kilkenny's is one of those exceptions. Â
I like this bar. Â It does not have the same pretentiousness of many of the other bars in Clayton. Â The crowd is decently diverse, ranging from older men watching sports, to college kids starting their night, to people in their twenties and thirties. Â It also doesn't have that same meat market feel to it that so many places in Clayton seem to have, I love that. Â
I can't say I have eaten much of the food here, and there aren't a ton of vegetarian options. Â I have had the hummus and pita platter a few times and it's always satisfactory and a general crowd pleaser. Â Otherwise, people seem to like the wings...can't say I know anything about them from personal experience however. Â
On a personal note, my brother-in-law and sister met in this bar, and they have the most beautiful baby in the world that I adore, so I have to say, I will always hold Kilkenny's dear to my heart, so perhaps, this whole thing was biased...in the interest of full disclosure.
Kilkenny's is a sweet little pub in the heart of downtown Clayton. There are a couple of bars in Clayton that I enjoy and Kilkenny's is one of them. Inside no one is really all that rushing around, except for when it gets packed and the waitress have to make it their tables, but that is understandable, but the atmosphere of the place is nice and relaxed.
Kilkenny's also has some great food. They offer your standard bar good, burgers, sandwiches, and such, and it all taste nice and juicy. Of course the main reason I go there is for a drink or two and they have a nice selections of beers and of course, a full bar.
Kilkenny's is a nice place to go and enjoy some food and drinks.
Good place in St. Louis for a relaxing time out with a few friends. Â Big wooden booths to sit in, lots of TVs to watch sports - although if you go there and there's a Cardinal's game on, don't expect to be accomodated with maybe one TV for the hockey playoff game. Â (May or may not be personal experience.) Â Good service, sometimes rushed but it can get busy. Â Also sometimes sketchy older work men hang out there and say really weird things. Â (May or may not be personal experience.)
Review Source:I vaguely recall 25 cent wings as the special for that night, but I can't really say that I remember much :P
They have Duvel (by the bottle) and Guinness on tap. Â That's quality as it is.
Things I've tried
Wings: Â Quality wings. Â Especially when they're 25 cents each :P
Toasted ravioli: Â pretty decent. Â The Guinness prob played a big part in making it taste good though.
Hummus and pita: Â The hummus was quite tasty. Â It was served with pitted brown olives, tomato, and feta cheese.
