The Family and I went to Pampas restaurant tonight, The service is horrible, the server inattentive to the our needs, there is no bartender to make drinks the staff seemed overwhelmed with drink orders, there was no host or hostess to great you when you walk in, the servers had too many tables this make it hard to give good service. The food was ok nothing special I had to send my streak back to be cooked more. The server did not even apologize for the mistake or offer something for my trouble

Enjoyed my skirt steak meal with mashed potatoes and salad. Nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Definitely would go back again.

I had an enjoyable experience on my visit to Pampas. Will most certainly repeat. The place is really nice inside.Linen tablecloths and napkins.Really nice decor.Perfect for a night out or just because.I had a really good meal that included appetizer and dessert.Everything was delicious.I LOVED the chimichurri.I ate the whole breadbasket using it and still had plenty left over to put on the four different types of empanadas I ordered.Price was reasonable as well. Not cheap but I didnt expect it to be.I will repeat.Service was really good as well.

My experience at this restaurant was a relatively good one. My boyfriend and I went around 6pm on a Tuesday, and the place was pretty much empty.
    It was nice and quiet.
We didn't have to wait too long for the food, and the server was very nice and checked up on us in a timely manner.
I decided to go with the grilled chicken entree, while my boyfriend went for the stuffed pork. They both came with veggies and a side of rice or fries. The meal was very good, and the cost was reasonable.
It was a very friendly atmosphere overall and I would definitely return.

There were 3 in our party. The place looked pretty nice when we walked in last weekend. It was kind of empty. There were only 2 servers and 1 bartender. We were given water and bread with a garlic butter and a chimichurri sauce. That sauce was delicious! We ordered the Parrillada a mixed grill of Lamb chop, ribeye cap, sausage.
The beef was over charred, the chicken dried out and the rib didn't taste like or even resemble ribs. There wasn't any taste that said wow! this is a Argentinian flavor I have been longing to try! Argentinians are big on beef so I expected it to be perfected. In fact no flavor at all bland! My girl friends had the same and agreed. The Mini Empanadas were so slathered with cheese they couldn't help but be good, who doesn't like cheese! We had the Sangria pitcher because each glass was like 6 bucks and some change and it was pushed that the pitcher was a better buy at 15 bucks It was good though. No music! even after I asked! There was music playing when we came but it stopped. Boring!! When leaving went to the bathroom and the tables along the way still had left over food from prior dinners like they didn't have the staff to clear the tables. Very cold temp. inside too! They never thanked us for coming they didn't even look our way when we left. They need a lot of improvement!!! It looks good on the surface don't be fooled!

This is the third time I've come to this place. I didn't write a review earlier because I thought I needed to try it more than once before a final verdict. I feel bad about the reviews that quickly condemn. I like how the restaurant management got the memo and they turned things around.  In our last visit everything was improved, service, food and waiting time. For the entrée, we ordered empanadas, and they were crunchy good. I had a stake with French fries and my girlfriend had risotto. Both dishes were very flavorful and fulfilling, they hit the spot. For dessert, we had a pastry with caramel, dulce de leche, and that was awesome. This place offers delicious South American food without having to drive to Tango Sur in Lakeview every time I crave for BBQ with chimichurri. I will be coming back for sure.

Nothing special. Steaks were pretty tough. Mashed potatoes tasted like it came from a box. Super slow service. This place is not staffed adequately, only two servers for the entire place. The owners greed in increasing the profit margin will be the downfall of this place.

This place is terrible!  My husband (who is Argentinian) and I were so excited that this place opened a few blocks from our home. We were so disappointed.
First off, the staff is really inexperienced.  It took at least 20 minutes before he presented us with a wine list, which we had to request.  It looked as if there was tension between the kitchen and waitstaff. While the bread and butter/chimichurri sauce were fine, we ordered a Russian salad (supposed to use beets) was a potato salad.  I ordered a churrasco medium rare, which came out dry as cardboard.  The side veggies was a small salad soaking with water, no dressing.  My husband's parrilla was equally disappointing.  It consisted of Italian sausage and a plate dry meat.  I wanted to cry when it hit the table it looked so sad.  This is the first time we didn't even bother to finish our bottle of wine with dinner.  If you would like an authentic Argentinian experience, just save yourself the trouble and go to Tango Sur, Folklore or n.  I only gave it one star since the place was clean and looked kind of loft-like.  But we will never be back there.

Four of us for an early Saturday eve dinner, and we started at the bar.  The staff were very welcoming and helped us with some menu questions and suggestions.  We had the Argentinean sausage, calamari grilled, and empanadas.  Each appetizer was very tasty, the calamari and empanadas stood out, very nicely grilled and baked respectively versus fried.  Then on to the table, where we over ordered but were more than happy to have the variety of the paradilla plates.  Short ribs, sausage, sweetbreads, all grilled rare the way we like.  Chimichuri sauce, yellow rice, fries, etc all were great.  One of the gals had the flan for desert and enjoyed it as we'll.  The service was friendly and efficient from start to finish.  The bill was reasonable as well.  Nice addition to the neighborhood, we will be back.

I wavered between 2 and 3 stars.  I was hoping this place would be an upscale steak place but it has a lot of kinks to work out.  We made reservations weeks ahead and my husband told them we were celebrating a marriage with 10-12 people.  The table was not ready and all of us had to wait around for 10+ minutes.  We had 2 waiters and therefore the orders were confused.  The service was unprofessional  and slow although the waiters themselves were nice. We waited for too long for out meal.  My strip steak was nicely prepared but under seasoned, addition of the creed sauce they serve with the bread helped.  A waiter spilled coffee cream on my husbands pants and although we expected to have a deduction on the bill, none was taken.  This place can be nice but... the service needs to be stepped up.

I probably should have known better than to go to a recently-opened restaurant for Valentine's Day. They were extremely busy, and it was really obvious that neither the staff nor kitchen knew how to handle this. (Hostess: don't keep talking on the cell phone while you're greeting and seating people; it's rude.) Dinner took about 2 hrs., and not because we lingered. About 1  1/2 hrs. of that was spent waiting - - for a server, for a bread basket (had to ask twice), for food, for coffee, for the check, etc.
The restaurant interior is REALLY bright - they could cut the wattage of the track lighting in half and it would still be very light. It felt a little bit like being interrogated. So it's an OK environment for groups and families, but it wasn't the place for an intimate date night kind of Valentine's dinner. The standard American pop Muzak didn't help. Go to Amazon, folks, you can get actual Argentine music. But - THANK YOU for not having televisions everywhere!
Food: Pretty good, and the chimichurri sauce is great on whatever they put it on. The pampanadas (Argentinian empanadas) were a good appetizer - though they brought us an extra one we hadn't ordered, so we wondered if another table got shorted. The "mixed meat" plate - that's why you go to an Argentinian steakhouse, right? - was also good, with a good-sized portion of several meats, including an excellent chorizo-we took some home for another meal. The salmon was a bit overcooked and dry, but still flavorful. Entrees came with a nice small side/house salad very lightly dressed, and yellow rice which was pretty standard.
It was surprising that a South American restaurant didn't have one single chocolate dessert offering, but the ricotta cheesecake with currants was tasty. And if you like authentically strong South American coffee, be sure to order a cup!
Prices: very reasonable & good value. Dinner for two (one glass of wine) came to $77, which included an undeservedly-generous sympathy-sized gratuity for our server.
Will go back in a month or so, mid-week when they're had a chance to work out some of the snags and it's not so busy. It would be great to see this place succeed. It adds nice variety to the excess of chains and Italian in the Elmwood Park/Oak Park/Forest Park/River Forest area.

Really hope this place survives. It has that sort of niche that should allow it to prosper in Elmwood Park. They do need to work our some kinks in terms of service and operation. The first two things we ordered were out. We ended up getting 2 different steak dishes with the chimichurri sauce and it was quite good. My wife, however, thought her mushroom risotto was way too rich. One thing I noticed right away is that the entire place looks virtually identical to the Italian restaurant that used to occupy the space. Everything from chairs, tables, bar, paintings, etc. were holdovers from the last restaurant.... And how about something other American pop music?

I hope these folks do well but they have a lot of wrinkles to iron out .   My husband and I ate here on the 4th day it was open and waited a LONG time until a waiter showed up even though there were only six tables filled.  They were very apologetic and gave us complimentary wine.  The food was definitely worth waiting for so tonight we ordered pick up and couldn't believe the number of problems we encountered:  they forgot to make one entree, gave us spinach cannelloni instead of the beef we ordered, and the food wasn't ready for a 1/2 hour after the time promised.  Again given Malbec and profuse apologies while we waited.  Prices are very reasonable and food is wonderful, but we won't be back until they've had a couple of  months to get things working better.  Good luck to a restaurant we hope will be around for quite a while!

The restaurant opened 8 days ago and visiting within the first 2 weeks I must say that this added to the experience at an Argentine restaurant. I had the 'empanadas' one of chicken and the other of spinach and melted mozzarella cheese. It was absolutely delicious. They were made fresh and were flavor packed. For the entree I ate "el lomo de cerdo relleno." Pork tenderloin stuffed with vegetables and a side of fries and vegetables. It was delicious and the pork was cooked to a nice white, juicy perfection.

As far as the environment and atmosphere, the bar was nice, and the tables were nicely organized. The waiters were actually from Argentina! One con however was that they played music from KISS FM and nothing Argentine or Latin as expected. Also the room was cold and empty when we visited. More people came as we ate and the room warmed a bit but temperature still lingered around 67-68.
