There are very few bars in San Francisco that are decked to the nines like this one is. Â The bar is swathed from floor to ceiling in decorations more befitting a Dia De Los Muertos celebration than a random bar in Silver Lake. Â Big mariachi hats, straw sombreros, tissue paper skull banners, and risque and beautiful pictures of Mexican women on the walls. Â The bar is lined with big, surprisingly cozy tufted black vinyl banquettes, and the actual bar itself is a thatched hut. Â
They serve Cheladas (like a Mexican Bloody Mary - with beer vs. vodka) and the bartender even made them fresh for us when he saw my friend's face as he tried to serve her Chelada in a can. Â The vibe is mellow, the music is punk rock, and the drinks are strong. Â
Cinco estrellas!
