This is the epicenter of standup comedy in Boise - open mic Wednesdays, touring/established local comics Thursday through Sunday, a workshop followed by showcase Tuesdays. Karaoke starts around 10 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays. I have a good time here. As for the bar itself: good beer selection, reasonable drink prices, solid grub (from the same folks who run the restaurant next door called, coincidentally, Solid). The clientele is diverse in this downtown location -- regular crowd typically runs 25 to 45 years old. Full disclosure: most of the staff knows my name, and I know theirs; the overall experience tends to be more enjoyable when you regard your servers and bartenders as people - just like you - rather than your servants. I think that's the hangup with some of the reviewers on here.
Review Source:I first learned about Liquid from a friend of a date who was familiar with their Liquid Laughs and Open Mic Night every Wednesday evening. Â Since my work days start at 6 every morning, I tend to avoid going out on weeknights, however I decided to check it out. Â The three of us stopped in for two consecutive Open Mic Nights and the shows were great and the service was excellent. Â The only reason we stopped going after a while was because my date's friend had a falling out with one of the comedians.
Overall the place is great for groups looking for a night of stand-up comedy. Â My only complaints were about the overpriced drinks and the tabs. Â One way to avoid that is to pay as you go. Â I have not been here during the daytime, but hope to do so one of these lunch hours.
I was here for Liquid Laughs on Saturday. It's a nice space and the show was excellent. Drinks, however, were disappointing and over-priced. The show was only $10 and the 2 drink minimum seemed reasonable but they took the "ice" in Long Island Ice Tea to heart. My two drinks would barely amount to one served with a normal amount of ice. My friend noted that her cosmo was very syrupy so apparently they cut corners one way or another. I'll come back for the laughs, but never just to drink.
