They should change their name to Low Quality Steak Bar or We're To High To Know a Quality Steak Bar. These guys are top notch DB's! Over priced. Bad service.

I love this neighbood steak bar.  It is not stuffy like most steak places and is affordable.  I love a good steak but can't swing Elways, Capitol Grill etc..so this is a good option.  We went on a Friday night and the place was packed - I would also sit at the bar and eat dinner if I couldn't get a table.
The only downside was the waitress, she was not very friendly, bordering on rude...just smile occasionally honey.

Went for Saturday brunch. We had pastrami hash & eggs, and Broiled mushrooms with spinach and cheddar grits. Coffee was served as a coffee press, perfect if you love your coffee like your man....strong. Causal atmosphere, old Denver architecture, good prices. This was my second visit there and we do plan on going back.  If you like a place off the beaten path, a restaurant that is not a chain, better than good food and reasonable prices, this is the place to go. It is cozy and many customers, but at brunch time not overflowing. Don't know how the happy hour evening crowds are. Put it on your to do list and let us know!

I really liked this place. My steak was delicious (as it should be at a place with "steak" in the name) and I thought the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. I don't like going to over-stuffy, over-priced restaurants. I thought this was one was just right. I will definitely go back. I think it would be a great date-night destination.

I had to give this place a second try! First time I went to eat dinner here I was less than impressed and didn't see myself returning.  Food was medicore and service was meh.  My friends were having brunch there and I'm glad I went!!!! Bartender was super sweet and friendly, steak and eggs were amazing.. and then there was the gigantic mimosas- yummm!!!!!!!!

Hellooooo LoHi SteakBar!  I went for brunch and there were so many things on the menu, it was hard to decide what to order!  They have $6 GIANT mimosas, bloody marys, and screwdrivers in the morning, which was incredibly difficult to resist.  The two friends I was with weren't able to avoid the temptation and said the mimosas were good and strong - always a plus.

Since we were at a steakbar, all of us opted for meaty entrees.  One friend ordered the steak and eggs and said the eggs were cooked perfectly.  The other ordered a steak salad that looked fantastic (I almost wish I had ordered it).  I chose the burger with onions and bacon, which was juicy and tender.  The thin, crispy fries served on the side topped it off.

Our service was friendly and the water glasses were always full.  Even though it's on the other side of town from me, I can't wait to come back to try other menu options and to explore what looks like other great offerings in the area.

Once was more than enough. Steakbar looks like what I expect for the area but upon closer inspection is pretty f***in gross after a visit to the restroom.  That being said, my next complaint would be the beer glasses they use.  The rim feels like it's an inch thick and it took all my effort to not spill my drink down my chin. Not to mention the glass weighs more than my head, no exaggeration. The menu is weird.  Two of my fave things are blue cheese and fondue but "Blue Cheese Fondue"??? Really??? Whoever came up with that should be fired for ruining two really great things.  Who else should be fired... the hipster bartender. What a brat she was.

Ive been here twice and the food is good. I can't wait to go back and try more items on the brunch menu. This last visit I got the breakfast sandwich. I requested no bacon substitute with avocado. The sandwich was amazing.... I loved the sloppiness of the yolk of the fried egg... it was so yummy. The service was excellent and I really liked our server. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the little french fries, but all in all I want to go back soon!

After yoga-ing it up with the lovely Kate G, we went to LoHi SteakBar for brunch. I'd purchased a Living Social deal and made a reservation for brunch earlier in the prior week.

This was a great experience. We were immediately seated, even though we arrived about 15 minutes early. Our server came by quickly to take our orders. I ordered a scramble and instead of mushrooms, asked if I could sub spinach instead. The server said she would try, but if not, they would just leave out the mushrooms. The server hooked me up and I received spinach in my scramble.

I believe Kate ordered the same item and instead of toast, ordered steak frites. Kate G was right, the steak frites at LoHi SteakBar are awesome and I can see why they are her favorites.

When we ordered, I was looking for bottomless mimosas, which they don't offer. However, what they do have are giant fishbowl mimosas for $6. The mimosas are no joke. They are seriously large and I could only have one. Very enjoyable brunch with great company. I'll definitely be back.

We've always wanted to try LoHi but it wasn't until recently that we had the opportunity to try it.  We went for brunch and were not disappointed.  Going on a holiday, there was a bit of a wait but nothing you wouldn't experience at another Lo-Hi establishment.  We sat in the bar area and decided on their Steak and Eggs plate and Bagel & Lox.  Our server was attentive (but not overbearing) and our drinks and meals all came out in a timely manner.  I would definitely recommend LoHi for brunch and we're looking forward to trying out the dinner menu.

Love LOHI! This tends to be our go-to neighborhood restaurant for several reasons. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are tasty and the food is consistently good. The blue smoke burger is hands down the best burger in the hood and the fries are addictive. I've tried several other items on their menu and have never been disappointed. Give it a whirl!

I've been here twice now, both times for brunch.  As I write this review, I keep changing my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars, back to 3 stars... back up to 4 stars... I wish I could give it 3 1/2, but I'll just round up. I think it's a pretty solid brunch spot, but there are a few things that keep me from rating it as a solid 4 stars.

First, I just don't love the menu.  It's a personal choice.  There are some really good options on it, don't get me wrong...  The huevos rancheros were delicious, as was the broiled mushrooms with poached eggs over grits.  This past weekend I also had the egg sandwich, with egg whites, which was really tasty.  There's just something about the menu as a whole that I think is not quite there.  I think it would have been nice to have a few more sweet options... maybe that's it, since it's mostly savory.

Second, I don't like that the menu doesn't actually offer a full description for every menu item of what food you will be receiving.  For example, when I ordered the aforementioned egg sandwich, there was no mention of it coming with anything else.  When I received it, there were fries on the side.  Now, I'm not upset that I received more food than I expected, but I didn't really want fries.  If I knew there I was getting a side, I would have asked for breakfast potatoes or something else.  Just would have been nice to get a heads up on everything included.

I wasn't drinking either time, but the giant $6 bloody marys and mimosas looked delicious.  Definitely a good spot for a good brunch, but I recommend you make reservations if you plan on coming before noon.  They have dinner too, but I didn't think that menu looked all that exciting, so I'll probably just come back for brunch only.

I was in the Lo Hi steak bar on a Friday night with friends. The hostess at the door was very friendly and told me that it would be a few minutes for a table. We decided to go to the bar for a bottle of wine. The bartender quickly greeted us and offered us a drink. The music was great and the ambience was nice. The only problem I encountered was that the waitress mixed up the temperature of our filets.  My filet was medium instead of medium rare.  Other than that it was a pleasurable experience.

Ahhh LoHi SteakBar.  You are that restaurant in my neighborhood that I go to when someone else makes me go.  Or if everyplace else within walking distance is super busy and my boyfriend is starting to turn into Aretha Franklin and I have no Snickers bars in my purse.  But only then.

You didn't used to annoy me like you do now.  For example, when I first moved here almost 3 years ago I thought you were cool.  Unfortunately, the mediocre menu hasn't changed in 3 years and now I'm just so over you.  I heard the people next to us complaining to their waiter this weekend about that, to which he replied that he knows....he hears it all the time.  Clearly you have not been listening to your customers.

And here is the nail in your coffin as far as I am concerned - your bathrooms. I get it - they're coed - you're so trendy and cool.  Whatever.   These bathrooms get the most disgusting bathroom award in Denver, folks.  They are consistently, unequivocally, DISGUSTING.  Piss on the floor and seat every single time.  Every. Single. Time.  I live 1 1/2 blocks away and gotten to the point will I will not even bother trying.  I will literally leave the table and walk home when I have to use the bathroom or pay my tab and leave rather than use your foul bathrooms.

So straighten up SteakBar.  Clean your bathrooms occasionally (and not just at the end of the night), quit boring the crap out of everyone with your menu.  I know, I know....it's LoHi...you can eke by on sheer volume and don't have to give a damn.  I guess I will just continue to dream of a day when you will close and something new will open in your place.

I usually get take out from here but I recently sat in the bar area for lunch. It was a beautiful Friday afternoon...sun was shinning...the music was pumping...the garage doors were open it was a great day for lunch out. Except for the flies and bees who decided to join my group. The windows by the front door were covered by them. I was so grossed out, I couldn't eat and I really love the steak salad here!

I stopped by to have a couple beers during happy hour before going to to dinner nearby.  I liked the vibe of the bar.  The staff (especially the bartender) were very friendly.  The happy hour prices were affordable.  The beer was ice cold.  Layout inside is visually appealing and cool.  The bar stools were some of the most comfortable upon which I have sat.  They have nightly specials (Monday is Oysters, Friday is fish, Thursday is pork ribs . . . they looked tasty) I browsed through the menu, and I will definitely be back for a steak and some frites.

This is one of those places we literally stumbled upon.  We had  1/2 hour before dinner and just started walking.  The chalkboard outside said "Happy Hour."  A good start.
$2.00 ice cold Coors Light...super cold as in "switch hands" while drinking.
A great atmosphere and a good bartender.
I looked at the menu...I'll be back.

To be fair, I only had drinks here. It was later in the evening so we had already eaten.

    The Good:
It is kind of a cool, converted garage kind of place, which I saw a lot of while in Denver. I love Moscow Mules (vodka, ginger beer, and lime), and they made it perfectly. They even had Gosling's brand of ginger beer, which is my favorite. Served in the traditional copper mug, so I was happy.

    The Bad:
Really, really, loud and we had to sit at one of those rail-bar areas instead of a table. We could only talk to the person across from you because it was so loud.

    The Ugly:
    Nothing!

    Overall:
I wish I could comment on the food. I heard they have good steaks. It served it's purpose for me with a couple of tasty drinks. A bit too loud for my tastes, but I guess that's because I'm not in my 20's anymore. (Or 30's for that matter.)

I've been to Lohi a few times and was always happy but recently they have really bumped up their cooking and the food today was EXCELLENT!  I had the El Tejon burger and it was absolutely amazing and the thin, yummy french fries were wonderful.  We went for brunch and you really can't beat their GIANT bloody mary's and mimosas for $6.  They were delicious!

The only bummer was that when I asked for extra pickle slices the waiter told me he would have to charge me.  Really?  Like they can't just give a customer a few more pickle slices for free?  Other than that the service was great.

I went to Lohi a year ago and just wasn't impressed - however -

On a recent visit yesterday, I stopped in again, because I was having a steak craving

Lohi just recently added a bone-in NY Strip to their menu, that is 16 ounces - it is a PRIME cut of meat, and honestly, it is one of the best steaks in Denver - high quality meat, with good cooking and great sides

Their seasonal veggies are quite fresh and their horseradish is good (but I wish they had creamy horseradish, as well) - I personally recommend the Blue Cheese Butter as a side - it is excellent!

Lastly, the atmosphere and service are solid - don't go here for the other steaks - go for the bone-in NY

    Love and peace all!

I'll tell you what I love about this spot.  I Love the long table behind the bar and the ledge window seating.   It's kind of like German Beer Garden seating.  A bunch of strangers sitting next to one another.  Its also nice to be able to sit across from one another.  Nice outdoor patio seating and a small dinning rooms.

There are always drink specials which in big goblets of beer!  Steak, burgers, salads, and mussels are all money fyi!

Uhmmmm YAY to a small itsy cute place!

Surprisingly, I don't think many people know about this place.  The place is ubber cute, service is pretty good, and foods pretty tasty.

I've tried their raw oysters (Monday specials), filet mignon, reg steak, burgers, and banana split.  All were pretty tassssstay!

It's in a residential ish area, parking can be annoying, but the place is a real cute place.

We tried to eat here, and called ahead to make sure there was space (and hopefully get a reservation).  Turns out that they don't take them after 6:30?  ARGH, I hate that! The woman who answered the phone told us that there was not a line and that they had a few tables available and most were about to turn, so we headed out to eat. When we got there a short while later, there was over a 2 hour wait and the hostess was pretty rude about the situation when we expressed discontent.

We left and ate elsewhere so I cannot speak for the food, but we did return for drinks and we had a great time.  We wanted to play one of the bar games, but sadly it was missing too many pieces.

    3.5 stars rounded up.

My husband ordered a Blue Smoke Burger, and I ordered the Steak Sandwich with a side salad, vinaigrette dressing.  The food was fresh and tasty.  The banana split was  good; pretty standard.

Service is good.  Street parking.  Reservations recommended (we were happy we did).  We'll be back.

If you're looking for a good steak this is NOT the place!  Unimpressive & Overpriced.  As many of the other reviews stated I had to send my steak back.  I ordered it med. rare and it came out well done aka burnt so that was a bummer.  For the price, it would have been nice to have a 2 side option included like a salad or some veggies instead of just an insane amount of fries.  They either need to step up their service & quality of food or just lower the prices!

NOTE:  Traci H.'s review pretty much sums it up perfectly as well!

Came in on a Sunday morning for brunch and sat at the bar.  The bartender barely spoke a word and wasn't that friendly.

I had  agiant bloody mary for $6.  Boyfriend had banana french toast, bacon, and hashbrowns (which were not hashed, more homestyle potatoes) and enjoyed it.  I had bagel and salmon.  Salmon was slightly salty but not bad.  It came with a side of fresh fruit.

Unimpressed.  For mediocore service, drinks, and food the price isn't right.  Everything about the place is blah, yet it's about $30 per person on average.  I tried LoHi SteakBar not once but twice.  And both times I left disappointed and poorer.
If I am going to pay I expect a little more than a lazy server and overcooked steak.

We stumbled onto LoHi SteakBar after respectfully declining the opportunity to endure two hours of being "rooted" to a bench at a place "down" the street. There was a pretty good wait here as well, so the four of us grabbed seats at the bar instead of trying to snag a table. I was concerned that eating a steak at a bar seemed a little airporty, but all my fears melted away as soon as our food arrived.

Two of us ordered the filets. I ordered mine rare (and boy was it rare!), while our friend got hers medium-well. The filets had great flavor and were cooked to perfection. I especially liked the shallot steak sauce. It added good depth to my steak, but didn't weigh it down like butter or cheese sometimes do.

My wife had the NY strip with the garlic-herb butter. It was a little overdone for her liking on one end, but perfect on the other, and she really enjoyed the butter topping. Our fourth friend had the blue smoke burger. No complaints from him--looked nice and juicy, with a generous heap of blue cheese.

We all loved our french fries. They even had some parsley on them, which we counted as our green vegetable serving for the meal, since steak and frites aren't exactly health food.

For dessert, one friend got the chocolate pudding, while the rest of us split a banana split, which was pretty hefty. The ice cream comes from Little Man (LoHi's neighbor).

LoHi SteakBar was a nice find, and is a fun place for a casual steak.

Oh LoHi 'SteakBar', how we wanted to love thee..

Warning, this was for brunch so I am feeling like our next visit will make this review complete.  Problem is I feel like if a restaurant is going to do brunch, they need to do it right, like Lola does it.

BUT, the brunch was mediocre.  Wife had the benedict.  The first try the eggs were overcooked.  Sent back em back and returned very fast perfectly cooked.  It was good but nothing out of this world.  I had the steak and eggs, bland.  Nothing was amazing and nothing terrible,  I just felt as if the entire experience was average, at best.  We'll come back for the burgers/steaks next time but I'm afraid our first experience at brunch won't have us running back any time soon.

Server was nice and attentive.  I just wish the food had been better and more unique.

Reason for 3 stars=  Good french fries, good service and huge mimosas.

A pretty hip bar, typical uptown setting in the highlands. We went there for brunch, didn't have anything to drink but water and we really enjoyed the vodka bottle shaped water bottle. The food is just so so, Warm beignets were OK, Shrimp and Grits were OK, Stuffed Mushrooms were OK; Steak and Eggs were below average considering the name "SteakBar". We asked for medium steak and it was hard and chewy (although very thin - not the idea of "steak" we're used to, more like beef chop). The fries were probably the only outstanding thing.

Lemon and Ricotta Pancakes are pretty light and refreshing. The chocolate pudding? One of the reasons I chose this place because I read somewhere that it's the best chocolate pudding in town. Maybe I'm not a pudding type of person, it tasted really strong, both the chocolate and the alcohol. I'm a milk chocolate kinda girl.

Our server didn't pay too much attention to us, she acted really busy throughout the whole time (maybe she was). So, service wise, I wouldn't say we got plenty.

I'm pretty sure I liked this place better when I was still eating meat. Sure, that goes for a lot of places. But the flavor of their blue-cheese stuffed burger pretty much haunts my memory.

That's my fault, not LoHi's. As a recent vegetarian there are still loads of things to pick from .

If you're thinking "hey, this would be a good place for brunch!" You're right! It is. But, for the love of logic, call ahead. Make a reservation. LoHi is a relatively small space that fills up quick. If they happen to have the Bronco game on, some folks will sit around for hours.

While it pains me to downgrade a star, I feel it deserves it.

We often go to LoHi SteakBar, be it or a late night snack or a leisurely brunch. Lately our visits have been underwhelming.

    * The service is always a hit or a miss.
    * The food is fast following the service.
    * And I don't like waiting or paying hefty prices for A-OK food, ambiance or service.
    * Chewy steak sitting on soggy vegetables are never appetising.
    * Chefs should be able to distinguish between a crispy rasher of bacon and a burnt one.

I sincerely hope they up their game.

I think I'm in love and the object of my affection is the SteakBar Steak. Please don't tell Sir Nicholas though as it was only a one time thing and the flatiron steak that made up this meal, covered in blue cheese butter, disappeared from my life quickly (right into my stomach) so it's all over for now. Until my next visit anyway.

Luckily another object stepped up immediately to take over my affection and that was literally the best piece of cheesecake I can remember eating ever. The server said that Sweet Life made this cheesecake so I'll have to head down to that bakery very soon.

I really enjoy the fact that you can get a good steak or delicious burger for a very reasonable price here. I would recommend making a reservation though as it's pretty busy almost every night it seems.

Brunch is good, really good.  The steaks are really good too, but I just think it's a bit over priced.  The steak is served with fries, that's it, and it will cost you.  But, I'm torn because, like I said, it's good steak, and good fries.  Can you see I'm struggling here?!

So for brunch, the mushroom, spinach and gruyere omelet  was my favorite.  The portion was big, and it was done really well.  The ingredients are fresh, and they mesh well.  The hashbrowns are nice and crispy.  The lemon ricotta pancake is very flavorful.  My friend and I split a side of the grits, and thank goodness we did, because the "side" was more like an entree!  The bloodies and screwdrivers are served in huge goblets, so look out.

For dinner, the steakbar steak is the way to go. It's nice and tender, and a good size...well for me, my husband didn't think his portion was big enough.  The blue cheese butter is so rich, but I could have used more of it.  My husband really liked the garlic herb butter.  The fries are so fresh and go so perfectly with a side of ranch.

So overall, very good, fresh, high quality food, but just a tad bit over priced for me.  I think happy hour might be the way to go.  Oh-I do need to mention they are super dog friendly here, you can totally chill out front on the patio and keep your pooch on the sidewalk. The keep several bowls of water out, and they keep it fresh.  The changed up our dogs bowl more than once.   Nice.  Hence star number four.
