Great place for kids!!! Â This place is crawling with kids weekdays/lunch time. There is an indoor play space next door which offers a 10% discount to eat here if you play there. Â I love that I don't have to feel bad if my kids are a little noisy or crabby. That's hard to find! The staff is great and always remember our names and even the kids orders!! Â The food is above par for this type of establishment. Â We go weekly! Â Thank you for liking kids!!
Review Source:Much like Bakin' & Eggs, this place was a baby magnet. I always get nervous when I walk up to a place and see a parking lot of strollers, such was the case here. Nevertheless. there weren't any children running around like madmen and I didn't hear any crying, so it was all good.
My friend and I got a table after about a 15 minute wait. We were able to snag two stools at the front "bar," after about 10 minutes, so we avoided the smoosh by the front door.
I ordered the country eggs benedict, and he got the deep-fried french toast with a side of sausage. When our food came out I was shocked at how disgustingly awesome my dish looked - tons o' meat with eggs and gravy. I didn't think I'd make a scratch in it, but I managed to nearly polish it off. Clearly I was hungry. If I ever came back I'd probably try something different, like the corn beef hash. As a side note, the hash browns were good, but cold :( My friend seemed to like his french toast - thick Texas toast bread - yum. He only ate one sausage link, so I'm not sure if they weren't great or if he was just full.
Chances are low that I'll come back., simply because I have a list of brunch places to try that about 30 restaurants long. If you live in the area, though, it's a solid local place.
The Good:
- It's probably not healthy in the slightest. But then again, none of the best places to eat are healthy. Also, large portion sizes and mighty tasty. Cowboy Breakfast Sandwich (what I had) and the Red Velvet Pancakes (what my girlfriend had) were nothing short of godly.
- Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice is expensive (three dollars for a small) but will change your life, or at least your morning.
- The waitress was super nice. I forget her name, but even during a Sunday morning rush, she was calm yet quick and always smiling.
The things that keep it from being a 5 star review:
- Street Parking only (if they have a lot, we couldn't find it and street parking on Southport is trench warfare)
- The hash browns were 'meh'. They had something like that orange seasoning salt on them, and I just wasn't a fan. I like a plain potato.
Overall, it's still a place I'll bring my parents when they visit. Open atmosphere, good food, and great service.
