First off, let me say they have really good thin crust pizza for the money.  I've been ordering from this place forever.  However, their rudeness is going to cost them business with me.  I recently placed an order for delivery and realizing that I wanted extra sauce on my pizza as soon as I hung up the phone I called them right back to get it right. The lady was extremely rude about it and instead of making it right she flagged me as a "canceler" the next time I called to place an order (which was a while because of her rude ass.)  To have given these people years of business and to get treated like a turd is not cool.  They have decent product for the money but be aware your business is not appreciated. They can easily be at 4 stars if their staff gave a ishh but it all starts from the top.

Ahh where do i start? Food is pretty decent and prices are not bad at all!
The staff are extremely rude especially the guy(older white guy) who answers the phone. They think they are doing YOU a favor. They at times will screw up your order but they will make an attempt to rectify it. Although the last time i ordered, i called them up up and while putting the phone down to check on my order, i overheard their RUDE phone staff mother f'n and calling some of the customers who ordered dumb and a few other choice words. I did not call the manager to report this because obviously they could care less how their phone staff treats their customers considering the bad reviews towards the staff in many reviews i have read.
I will give kudos to the hispanic lady who is at the front pick up window and usually is the one who takes your money. She is awesome but the rest are just plain horrible!!
Overall i will say that 3 stars is extremely generous!

I don't know what's happened to this place, but over the years it just gets worse and worse. I'm used to the no nonsense girls who answer the phone, but the pizza has just gone DOWNHILL. It's really sad. We have been ordering pizza from here since I was a kid. Pizza just isnt the same. Sigh :(

Rude staff, the kind that will cut you if you talk back.    The value was always OK at best but then they started lacking in quality.   It got so bad where we just won't order from them ever again.  Bad stuff, man.

Thin crust is really good. Been going for 20+ years.  Only do carry out and delivery. Operators are iffy sometimes but they're nice most days. stuffed pizza was pretty damn good. Good neighborhood spot. Sit down service isn't worth it.

This restaurant is terrible. I ordered a pizza and the delivery lady showed up with a pizza that had been destroyed during the trip to my home.  She told me that I had ruined the pizza by how I handled it when she handed it to me.I replied "you mean to tell me that you put the pizza in your car, drove it here, took it out, handed it to me, and when I opened the box, that action alone destroyed the pizza?" I would have tipped her a mean twenty if she had gone bac and got another one. I ordered a pizza and I have not made it in the house yet, but I ruined the pizza?  Then the driver yelled at me that I had ruined the pizza that she just got done whizzing around in.  I got into my car and headed to the restaurant. The manager says that she trusts her lying driver and "honesty is the best policy." This fat retard! My job as a delivery driver is not on the line so I don't have any reason to lie.  I tipped the manager $10.00 to give to her dishonest jerk of a driver because she is probably someone's mother (probably the manager I spoke to) and needs to support her family, but I will never go to that barf bag again.  How the f#ck are you going to tell me that I am being dishonest about a pizza!? Just go and get me another one and it's no hard feelings.  Yeah, honesty is the best policy. How honest can you be when you are a pizza delivery and you're lying about pizza.  Morons.

Mediocre pizza with horrible/disgusting service. I ordered pizza for pickup. When I went to pick up pizza this big/Hispanic/tattoo lady gave me a horrible attitude. It's like I was bothering her because I interrupted her conversation with her relative. Never going back!

Well I was kind of underwhelmed on my dine in visit about a week or so ago so the other night we ordered one of their large football shaped pizzas delivered.  My roomie placed the order and was impressed by the friendliness of the phone person and the speed that they took the order details.

They informed us that it might take about an hour to get it so we were pleasantly surprised when after about 30 minutes it arrived at our door nice and steamy hot.  You can't get any fresher pizza than that on a home delivery!  The driver was nice and friendly and between the fast delivery and the friendly way he handled the transaction he earned his tip and we were thrilled.

Oh, did I mention we ordered a large pizza?  I think this pizza was on steriods it was so big. I think it measured something like 18" X 26" or somethuing pretty close to that.  I'll upload a picture of it.  In the picture there's a $1 bill next to it so you can get an idea how huge this pizza really was,

The only disappointing aspect of this experience was the flavor.  Most of one side seemed to not have hardly any pizza sauce on it which made that section taste really bland.  Now on the other side they'd put more sauce and that was quite flavorful and nice.  I really would like to upgrade my previous rating to a 4 star rating, but I just can't do it based on a pizza where half of it is severly under sauced.  I will try them again in the furure and see if they get better quality control on their pizzas, but for now I'm going to have to stick with a 3 star rating and go to the Mexican bakery across the street that has good pizza..

Nothing says lovin' like a Mama Lunas' football sized (maybe football shaped, but way bigger than a football) sausage pizza. THAT is what I am talking about, buddy!!

I have never tried anything else but pizza from here, and have only ordered from the phone and had the pizza delivered...except once. One time a few coworkers and myself came here to eat for lunch. We parked in the lot in the back and there were some real mobster-like dudes hanging out back there. When they saw us they looked at us and skedaddled inside. Hmmm. When we walked in, the place was like a real mob hangout. Desolate, outdated, dark. YES!!! There is even a life-size statue of a stereotypical Italian chef, and Sinatra in the rotation. We ordered a pizza and it was as good as delivery, if not better. I'm not a big sausage pizza eater but this stuff is the bee's knees. Quality, not too greasy (have had much worse). Whenever we order pizza from work, it's got to be Mama Luna's.

Oh, and they have RC, which means they are a REAL Chicago pizzeria.

I don't know how such an unexceptional-looking little restaurant can make such amazing pizza, but I'm not going to question it. Hands down the best pizza you can get within a 5 mile radius. Their $5 8" specialty pizzas are a *steal* and they really load up on their very tasty toppings, sausage probably being my favorite. I wouldn't advise dining in, however... The surrounding neighborhood is a very accurate depiction of what kind of crowd you should expect to find inside. Shame, considering I wouldn't mind dining in here again were it not for the loud TV and even louder patrons in the background. But for take out/delivery, I'll always bring my pizza-related business here!

Customer service is terrible, but worth the price.: I've been ordering from MaMa Lunas for the past 3 years. The customer service is rude and terrible. I have not had any problems with the delivery people. I would say it well worth the price. I usually order the sausage and pepperoni MEGA ball. It is huge and with enough leftovers for the next day. Don't order any bacon or ham. They only put a few slices on the pizza and it's not worth it.

Today was the first time that I went to the restaurant to eat. It was not a very good experience. The wait staff was average and the service was good. I did not have a pleasant time because we enjoying watching a movie on their large flat screen TV. Then they changed the channel because some Police officers wanted to watch the game. I think that was rude especially considering they didn't even ask us.

The Manager was rude and kept cussing out people. I think he was mad @ the pizza drivers. So I will never eat there again, but I will continue to use their delivery service... maybe.......

RE: I'm done ordering from them. Their deep dish pizza is terrible. Neva again.

I understand it's not a high-end pizzeria but the girls on the phone could stand to be a little more proper and nice. And I'm sorry but cheese should be a standard and included ingredient. My Mom once tried to redeem her coupons for her free pizza and we were literally charged the cheese portion because we were told that is a topping that is charged separately. COME ON! That constitutes the false advertising  of a cheese pizza that is NOT free when you have to pay for the cheese that goes on it - who calls to cash in on their free pizza and just want dough and sauce? This is my last resort pizza spot.

Quite honestly, one of the best thin crust pizzas that I have had!  Delicious.  Thier sausage is really good too.

Delivery is kind of slow.  But then again I live a couple miles away.

I haven't had any of thier other styles of pizza or other food.  I keep going back to the thin crust because it is so good.

I didn't order from here but I went to a friend's house to have some and heard all about the order process! They ordered the pizza "well done" and they were told 25 minutes for delivery. Mama Luna's called back to verify and just like the other reviewers said the girls on the phone were very rude and confused sounding. The pizza got there in 10 minutes !! Normally this would have been a good thing but it was NOT well done. My friends like it well done meaning, the cheese has to start to brown, no white cheese. The cheese was very pale. She had to put it in the oven and cook it more. She called back and told the girl that they didn't cook it well done and she was like " Did you eat the pizza ??" lol My friend told her "No not yet I had to put it in the oven!" Well regardless, they didnt care.
As far as the taste... meh. They ordered a chicken garlic thin crust pizza. Which would not have been my frist choice. I would have gotten pepperoni or sausage. Maybe that would have been better. Anyway, I didn't like the taste.
Maybe I'll try it again ...
    Meanwhile ... I love Colutas !!

Tried to order delivery from them once... When I told them I wanted to use a credit card, the person taking the order copped a MAJOR attitude with me and said they wouldn't allow that for the first order. I just scratched the whole thing. Not worth it when the service is that crappy up front.

yea delivery sucks, but the pizza is amazing. I definitely like the thin crust the best....If you live in the area or are not too far to drive try this place out. Just go for pick up cuz  you will enjoy eating it at home instead of the 1970s styel decor inside!

Actual phone conversation I have had (on many occasions) with the folks at Ma Ma Luna's.  I couldn't make this up if I tried...

    (Phone ringing... ringing...  ringing.....  ringing...)

    MAMA: Hello, Ma Ma Luna's.
ME: Why yes, hello.  I would like to make an order for delivery.
    MAMA: Yes?
ME: Okay, I would like a large deep dish with tomatoes-
    MAMA:  What?
ME: Um, a large deep dish with-
MAMA: Dip Dish?  We don;t carry that.
    ME: (giggling slightly) What?
    MAMA: Hold on....
(30 seconds to a minute go by.  SERIOUSLY.)...
(I can hear shuffling and laughter)
    ME: Hello?
    MAMA:  Hello?
ME:  Yes.  Please.  I would like a large deep dish pizza with tomatoes.
MAMA: Wait, you want pizza? (I swear to god she said this)
    ME: Ugh, Yes.
MAMA: Oh, sorry.  This is my first night. (I have counted someone over the phone saying this sentence 3 times so far.)

Anyways, the pizza (of it comes withing 2 hours) is pretty tasty, and should win the award for "heaviest deep dish" in town.  I don't understand how they can afford to add so much cheese to a pizza pie, nor do I want this to change.  All in all, it's a nice alternative to the high prices of Chicago's Pizza, or Giordano's.

Mama Luna's has greasy pizza.  Delivery takes for ever.  I have been inside once or twice and they really need to renovate this antique resturant.

After having their awesome, authentic Italian food delivered to my abode, this last time I decided to dine in one evening.  After strolling in from this ever changing neighborhood, I walked into a slice of old Italy.  Greeted by the owner herself, she and her staff were friendly and made me feel right at home.  The night I went, some of Chicago's finest men in blue were dining there too and they all knew "mama" and her staff very well.  They treat everyone like one of the family.  There is a separate bar area as well.  Viva la Italy!

After years of ordering in, I decided to check out the restaurant live and in person.  Wow , was I in for a treat.  We were greeted by a sweet lady (possibly Mama herself?) who knew we hadn't been there before so she went out of her way to make us feel like we were either famous or family!  The dining room was lovely, and the food was wonderful.  We tried the pizza and pasta and both kept us happy and talking for days.  Go and visit Mama and you will not be disappointed.
