I'm not sure where Fred previously purchased cheaper Chinese food. Â I found the food to be very good, fresh and large portions for the price. Â I used to go to Hung Hoah in the neighborhood, which was more expensive and not any better except for the environment. Â I like the bang for the buck at Star East.
Review Source:Definitely not a place to get good food. Not to mention their high prices.
So I ordered a Chicken Fried Rice and took somewhat long time.
I ate my rice and it was cooked twice, I could tell. It was very greasy as
if they cooked it in oil all over again. DISSATISFIED.
They employees are not really friendly. I once went there while they were mopping
and told me to not step on the clean side. The place is quite small though.
They could do soo much better. Lower the prices!!! Somehow they claim they have an open kitchen and I don't see it.
At least they have parking. xD
Upon entering Star East you will be greeted with the familiar site of: a large counter set in a larger window, door to the side, a few small tables, a TV set for eat-in diners, as well as a super huge menu of everything they have to offer a hungry human (in most cases).
We've all been here before, it's nothing especially new or exciting insofar as decor is concerned. And - whether this is a positive or a negative quality I will leave to the reader - the food is much the same. It's not bad - actually when hankering for Chinese take-out, it's quite delicious - but there is nothing especially appealing or new about Star East. So, if you are at all familiar with Chinese take-out, you'll know what to expect, taste-wise. That being said, the portions are good, the prices are on par with your standard take-out joint, and the staff is attentive and never rude. I give it four stars because I truly am a fan of the food, but that applies to nearly all Chinese take-out places I've been.
