Maid-Rite? What a name for a throwback to old school dinners, all that is missing is Fonzi!

Saw this place on one of the Food Network shows(fill in the blank)
It always seems that you never get to try one of these places because they are never located here in Denver but this time I got lucky.

The original Maid Rite is from the midwest and actually it kind of tastes like a midwest product if there is such a thing.

Maid-Rite is not a burger or anything like it, its crumbled/loose ground beef with seasonings, onions and pickles on a warm bun. Its more like what you had as a kid if you had leftover meatloaf and put it on a bun. It's kind of homey! Brings back a childhood memory or two. The french fries were hot, skinny and placed in sliver cup that was hot too and for all you french fry loving Yelpers this is a nice touch.

Maid-Rite has evolved from the original by adding wraps and salads but the original works with the 50's decor and the Motown blasting from the speakers. They also have milk shakes and let me tell you it's a meal.

The service is excellent and the server actually came by each table and asked how everything was and that's one of the reason's I gave it 4 stars.

All in all check it out, it may not be for everyone but if you want a different sandwich you can't go wrong with Maid-Rite

We were in the area and wanted to try something different, it smelled appetizing from the outside BUT, after we ordered and ate our food I regress. I had the original, I asked for pasta salad but they didn't have any, so I opted for the fries. My wife had the chicken wrap and my daughter had the chicken nuggets with a chocolate shake.

This is probably the 1st time I left a restaurant where I was still hungry, my sandwich was dry and I had to keep dunking with my ketchup, my wife's wrapped was drowned with salad dressing and the chicken nuggets were flavorless. The only thing I could say that was good was the chocolate shake. So, if you like shakes this is probably the place you want to go.

I'm giving them the one star for the atmosphere, classy 50's diner. The service wasn't that spectacular as well.

    Maid Rite was Made Wrong.

Yes this place is more like a fast food place and I actually didn't have the maid-rite sandwich I had the beer battered cod sandwich which I actually liked a lot. The tartar sauce was just okay and the fries could have been thicker but it tasted fresh and i liked it plus not very expensive. All in all I thought it was good and if I'm in the area I may stop by but I prob won't go out of my way. The employees when I was there were really nice so I have no qualms about the service.

A friend of mine at work has been really craving a sloppy joe lately so when she saw this loose meat restaurant she wanted to check it out to see if she could satisfy her craving. Did she? Kind of...

The Maid-Rite signature sandwich is like a sloppy joe, but without the sauce. It's well seasoned ground beef in abundance on a bun that you try to pickup and eat like a burger, but you end up eating with a knife and fork on your plate. She liked it too.

While I jealously watched the kid at the next table chowing down on a corn dog, I had the Italian-Rite, which is ground Italian sausage on a ciabatta roll that was soft like a hamburger bun...tasty, but odd. The meat was mixed with a little marinara so it stayed put and was accompanied by bell peppers and a slice of mozzarella. I also had a side salad. The salad was really nice: mixed baby greens, red onions, tomatoes and cucumbers with balsamic vinaigrette. The sandwich?...was good, but not great. I would eat it again if someone bought it for me, but if I'm paying I think I'd rather try one of their big salads or wraps next time.

When you first walk in you notice the 50s style diner motif. It's very clean and crisp with the chrome and shiny red vinyl chairs and checkered floors. I liked it, it was fun. And the girls behind the counter, although somewhat preoccupied, were very nice.

You place your order at the counter and then they bring your food to the table. I liked that they use real plates and flatware, even if the sandwiches are still wrapped in paper to contain the looseness of the meat...hence, loose meat sandwiches.

Will I try it again? Sure, but I probably won't make it a point to go all of the time. It was a fun place to eat that could probably use some fine tuning on their menu. It's worth a shot though. I recommend it for something new and different.

Even the coupon doesn't help my review.  High prices and horrible food.

    Maid-Rite, Dun-Rong.

The service was friendly and attentive.

The food... I understand the two-star rating.

We stopped in for shakes since Maggie Moos had unknowingly gone out of business. Figured you can't screw those up. We were at least half wrong...

The vanilla shake was fine. The chocolate in the chocolate shake was chemically? Stale? Cheap?  Irregardless the description, it was unappetizing.

We also decided to share a couple sides. The fries did not seem fresh and were rather dense. Like biting into a finger, not a fluffy potato.

My other half would not finish his onion rings. I don't think this has ever happened, and he won't tell me why.

This was probably some of the worst, most boring food I have ever paid money for. We had an open faces roast beef sandwich, and a port cutlet sandwich. They were both extremly bland, boring and basically terrible. Christina was right a total waste of calories, reminds me of what I have heard they eat after the depression.......YUK No worder they closed in Centennial in less than a year.

Don't think New York diner or even Denver Diner.  We ordered sandwiches on "ciabata" bread.  Just because it is shaped like ciabata doesn't mean it is.  This was just refined white bread, flavorless.  Not filling in the least. The side of pasta salad was just plain weird tasting.  There is no way,  even with a gift card that I am wasting my time and my appetite on this food...ever.

So, I had a coupon to this place and thought heck ill give it a try, I ordered the Cheese Maid-Rite, an order of onion rings and an order of cheese curds. I got home and the very first error and a pet peeve for me... they forgot the cheese on my sandwich. Took a bite of the sandwich and the meat was tasteless. Someone described their chicken as sawdust, well the "loose meat" was the same and really all I could taste was the pickle as there was so much of it. It was a really small sandwich too for the $4 price, its not worth it at all. I couldve had a way better tasting double cheeseburger for $1 at another place(not that it wouldve been better for me). The first onion ring I tasted seemed ok but as I ate those more I could only taste the old grease they were cooked in. I was not impressed with the cheese curds either which tasted like mozzerella cheese sticks you can get anywhere. The service seemed friendly and quick, so except for the fact they forgot the cheese, it was ok.
I wrote to Maid-rite on their website and can you beleive it, they couldnt even take the time to answer me with an apology or anything. I shouldve just called the store and asked for my money back but since I did eat the products I guess Ill just chalk it up to experience. A good business would take steps right away to ensure this doesnt happen to another customer but I guess theyre not really concerned about their customers as evidenced by their lack of a response to a formal complaint. This business is new and apparently one of their locations has already closed. Doesnt suprise me. There are so many more appealable options out there, even in the direct vicinity of that place.

Not very friendly.  First time in.  Loose meat sandwiches. Buns aren't toasted, not much flavor.  Seemed cheap then we got the total and it was way more than what we thought I would be.  They get ya with the sides and drinks s upgrades.  We will not be back. Potato chips have potential but more than half of them were raw!  The bussed said if they cook any longer try will burn!   Very disappointed.

We were in this shopping center around lunch time and this place caught our eye. I hadn't heard of it and it looked fun.

It can be a tad bit confusing since it does look like a sit down joint but you do need to go to the counter to order. Once you've placed your order they will give you a number and bring the food to the table. No problem !

Their sandwiches are different. It's a loose meat sandwich. Think of a sloppy joe (minus the sauce) hamburger style with ketchup, mustard and onions. They also have a good selection of side items that are a nice variation : Cole slaw, potato salad, mashed potatoes, ect.

The sandwich was interesting. It was a little messy and hard to eat but since it's in the same family as the sloppy joe that's to be expected. They had forks and spoons if you needed every last ground beef crumble off your plate. For what it's worth my daughter is PICKY and won't eat hamburgers. She decided to try this and said it was delicious !  I normally wouldn't even ask the opinion of a child but she isn't a normal child, she's a  YELPERS child !

The shake I got was a German Chocolate Cake and it alone was worth a return trip. YUMMY !

I'm seeing complaints on here about the employees but I actually thought the employees that were working during my visit were superb !! They were busy and still really took the extra time to make us feel welcome, inform us of the menu and engage my daughter when ordering and delivering our food. I would've given this review 4 stars if it was based on the employees alone.

It's worth giving Maid-Rite a chance if you haven't had one of these sandwiches before and you're in the area.

Ugh... I can't believe I wasted calories on this place. This would be a 1-star review if it wasn't for the BOGO coupon we had. The prices were high, quality was poor, and the smoked chicken on my salad was like eating sawdust. Gross! It was seriously the driest chicken I've ever had. The BF was less upset with his chicken breast sandwich. Though he wasn't exactly happy either. He likened it to a frozen chicken breast that was thrown on some chewy ciabatta bread. The yukon gold mashed potatoes were obviously made from a powdered mix. With a place like Dad & Dude's right across the street, that has really good food on their menu for less, I don't know why anyone would go here! We will never return!!

I hope that the management reads some of the Yelp reviews and makes some changes!

This place SUCKED. I was expecting the kind of burger I had at a mid rite in Missouri many years ago. As I remeber it, they did the loose meat burger in front of you on a grill and melted the cheese on it while still on the grill. The cheese rite that I had yesterday was on a small bun, had a scoop of cold meat placed over the mustard ketchup and pickels and then topped with a piece of cold cheese and the top bun. It was gross. I had asked to hold the ketchup, which they didn't, but had taken it to go and didn't notice till I had left the parking lot. Even had they not slathered the thing with the nasty ketchup they use, I would not have liked the end product. They also use onion rings that are obviously a frozen product and bland. I will agree with Michael K. that if you want a good burger, go to Freddy's, they also have onion rings that are probably frozen, but they taste great!

The Cheese rite's are the way to go here.  Fries are made to order (or at least taste that way and are hot!).. environment is a a little bland and doesn't have as much "home-town" feel as other maid-rites I have been in.

ill make this kinda short and sweet. dont eat here. portions suck. staff unfriendly. if you want a sandwhich go to panera bread ( next door) or which which ( across the street ) if you want bbq go to famos daves (across the street) there are better options for comparable $$$.  ive copied the email i sent to maid-rite corprate. we even ended up going to freddies (across the street) for desert.

    to whom it may concern,

my family and i visited a new location in centennial, colorado. our first impression was good. nice clean location in an area very close to home. we took a few minutes at a booth to look over the menu and decided on 3 different basket meals and a rootbeer float. the float was delivered quickly and the wait for the food was acceptable but the regular drinks never came. i had to approch the counter to retrive the drinks for our order. the sandwhich portions were mediocre to what i would expect for the price but being our first visit wasent sure what to expect. on the other hand all 3 meals came with fries and were not to par for any food establishment, extremely small portions (about a 1/2 cup ) they were cold and hard and my 2 year olds werent even interested . i did not go back to the counter to say anything assuming the staff would stop by to see how everything was. ( the manager/owner was obviously present in the front of the store) to my dismay no one (after the first staff member who dropped the food off) ever said one word to me or my family while eating. this is as far from "hometown hospitality" as you can get. the entire family seemed to enjoy most of their meals. we sat and visted for just a few. while on our way out i noted the staff including the manager/owner standing around the walk up bar area chatting with what seemed to be either family or other off duty employees. as we walked out the door and the watched  i expected to hear " thank you folks, have a good evening" or something to that effect only to receive a cold sholder from all. being from a server backround and currently working in a customer oriented industry i do expect this when leaving any establisment i "choose" to spend my money at. this was the final straw, i left this store with the most disgusted feeling of ungratefulness in a long time. i will never think of going to this location ever again and will pass this word along to family and friends. hopefully the franchise can use experiences like this as a training tool. if customers continue to be treated like nothing at this location it wont matter my experience as they will most likely be closed.

thank you for your time and am sorry i had a bad 1st impression of the franchise and specificly this location.

Finally, A Maid-Rite close to me! I am a long time M-R fan and this new diner did not disappoint. The Cheese-Rites were awesome! =]

It seems that many folks are not familiar with Maid-Rite by reading the reviews for this location. It is a "loose Meat" sandwich, if you're looking for a burger, you should head across the way to Freddy's. The loose meat sandwich is an Iowa thing, and until recently was only found east of the Mississippi. Maid-Rite has been making these fabulous sandwiches since 1927. That being said, this new diner offers up a whole lot more than your typical Maid-Rite. I am a traditionalist, and I'm not too sure that in this case, more is better. But hey, if it works then I am completely good with that, as long as they don't change the sandwich that started it all, the loose meat.

So, we get up to the counter to order and I asked for a Cheese-Rite basket and a second Cheese-Rite sandwich. The gentleman taking my order (Evan I think it was) asks me if I want mustard, ketchup, onions and pickles on my Cheese-Rite, Instantly there was an issue. You see, any self respecting Maid-Rite junkie knows that you don't put ketchup on a Maid-Rite!  Just mustard, pickles and onions! I couldn't tell if he was just testing me, or if he really was genuine with his question. When I told him to axe the ketchup, he knew he wasn't dealing with a M-R amateur! He grinned a bit and complied quickly. The sandwich's were kick ass by the way!

After we finished dinner, we couldn't resist the malts. What a great way to top off your meal. Yum!

I really wanted to be the first to review this location, but alas, Cheri beat me to it again! LOL Kudos Cheri, always at the right place at the right time.

So, lets recap, if you are looking for a traditional hamburger, you need to go somewhere else. Forget your preconceived notions of what you think this Diner should be, and review it for what it is, and that is delicious!

Yep, I am very happy to see you in my neighborhood Maid-Rite! Now stop asking people if they want ketchup! =]

I can't say anything good about my meal here. THIS ISN'T A DINER IT'S A SANDWICH SHOP. It's not a served meal, it's more like a cross of a sit down and a fast food and I've had better fast food at Dairy Queen. When I walked in, I stood around looking like an idiot for several minutes because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take a seat go up to the counter or what. I was expecting a sit down diner and that isn't what I got here.

The employee that first spotted me asked if I had been there before, but when I said no did nothing to help me in my confusion. She just said something to the effect of "Ok, welcome..." and then proceeded to run off without another word. I sat down and tried to read the menu from my seat, because at the time the place was really busy and I had decided my seat was the priority. After searching the boards for several minutes and straining to see what was on them I came to the startling realization that this place was not in fact a diner, but a glorified sandwich shop with retro decor.

There was no cheeseburger on the menu to speak of, have you ever been to a diner that had no cheeseburger on the menu? The closest thing was the "Cheese Rite Loose Meat Sandwich" which, when I got to my table was extremely lacking in creativity, size, and anything really to hold it together. What a mess; an unsatisfying bland mess. My fries where over salted and shriveled, like the ones you'd find under your kids car seat that had been sitting there for who knows how long.

To end on a positive note: it was cheap (about as cheap as fast food); you get what you pay for. I can't see returning to pay for anything else, I've had better sandwiches in the lunch line for primary school.

Came here to get a fun 'diner' experience and I guess I romanticized the idea too much. If you're looking for the general idea of a NORMAL hamburger, don't come here. I guess I didn't realize that a maid-rite burger had meat on it that crumbled more than fancy feast cat food. The slow cooked turkey salad had little turkey on it and a giant bed of mixed greens and came with pecans when it clearly said it was topped with almond. The bone in the turkey was a nice surprise. Took entirely too long to get our food. We'll never go back.

Well the place had only been open for 3 days and it was not too busy but it did take. A while to get our food the pulled pork sandwhich was good my main issue it was really small.  The side of beans was also good but came in a small cardboard bowl that was not even filled so while the food is tasty the portions are just too small to justify the price.

The onion rings are the string type and just kind of lacked flavor, sweet potato fries were good as were the cheese curds.  I guess since I am looking at it based on the food and not nostalgia my review is different but the first thing I look for when eating out is the food and value. A cheesey dive is a great find.
