I really like Mamma Melina. I would give the food a solid 3.5 stars, but the thing that pushes it to the 4 is the service.
This place is the perfect place for a casual business lunch because there is something for everyone and the decor is so bright with clean lines.
I really enjoy the beet salad and soups of the day! When I'm feeling like a bit of a lighter fare, I go with the pollo palliard with a tasty lemon butter sauce and arugala. When I'm feeling indulgent, I have the gnocchi and gorge on those pillowly  potato nuggets! The pizza is also really tasty. Skip the mushroom ravioli...the sauce it's in tastes more like tomato soup than anything.
Happy Hour here is also a good deal. Half off most apps and great drink specials. Recently tried the crab/prawns mac and cheese. YUM!!! I work nearby, so it's easy to pop down and take advantage of their FREE parking garage. Skip the italian sausage with gorgonzola polenta...it's bland.
Finally, the service. These guys are hands on and care about who their customers are and how they are experiencing their restaurants. I really appreciate this. Part of the reason that will keep me coming back is because I know they care!
What the owner of Mamma Melina, List, and Barolo does a really good job of is the Happy Hour. Â At Mamma's the house red, white, and rose wines are only $3.95, there are various other drink specials, it's half off all appetizers, and 3 of their pizzas at $6. Â I've had the Cuore di Romana (caesar salad), Ravioli ai Formaggi Piccanti, Calamari fritti, Bruschette, Pamigiana di melenzane, Antipasto, Broccoli & Cauliflower gratin, and Corydon pizza.
The restaurant has classy decoration that immediately makes you feel relaxed enough to have a glass (or two ;) ) of wine while eating some delicious food. Â Although I haven't been for dinner before, I have enjoyed all the food I've had during happy hour and would highly recommend it. Â It's a place you could go with girlfriends, on a date, or with coworkers. Â The only reason why I am giving the place 4 stars instead of 5 is because the service there isn't always the greatest. Â The servers can be pushy and are not very warm or friendly. Â But all in all, I love going there for happy hour and will be back again (and again)!
