REVIEW UPDATE:
My husband and I came back to one of our favorite restaurants. We decided to both order something different other than steak. We both got the lamb. I ordered mine medium and he ordered his medium well. We got our dinners and his was medium rare! The waitor said that must be mine but my dinner was cooked to medium. They brought his dinner back and we had to wait a long time for his dinner to come out that we ended up sharing mine. When we finally got his dinner, they apologized but I couldn't believe they didnt even offer even a free dessert for the inconvenience. We were obviously sharing my dinner because they had to take his dinner back and it was taking so long. We were very disappointed. We've been coming here for years. We will still be back but were shocked they were so cheap not to offer something small to us for such an inconvenience. Steaks are still phenomenal and are always cooked perfectly BUT NOT the lamb.

I give a 2 star because they were still friendly. I'll update back to a 5 star if we get the same service and dinner quality the next time we're there.

Previous review-
This place has great food and excellent service. Bone in rib eye is always delicious as well as the lobster mash potatoes. Our waiter was very friendly and funny and his assistant also provided us with excellent service.

If you want one of the best steaks, if not the best steak in town, this is the place.

The only "con" I would say is that even on a week night it is very loud and crowded. The upstairs dining area has TVs on the sports channel so I wouldn't say it's the most romantic ambience. If you're looking for a quiet dinner, try reserving a table in the down stairs area, though I'm not sure if it's always open to the public.

Otherwise, Mastro's is my husband and my go to for a great steak and service.

The only thing that could have made my meal at Mastro's better was if someone else was paying for it. BUT, with food that good, I ALMOST didn't mind having to stop off at the Gold Guys afterwards (I sure will miss that tooth).

Mastro's steak is so well prepared, it literally melts in your mouth. A steakhouse like this is an education for the palate, forcing you to unlearn all that the Sizzler has tried to teach you about steak. Sorry Sizzler, but when steak is this good, you DON'T need A-1 sauce. When steak is this tender, you DON'T need a steak knife as the blunt side of your fork will suffice.

Mastro's even gets the little things right. For example, onion rings. Never before have I experienced this much 'Onion Ring Integrity', where the first bite doesn't compromise the entire structure, leaving the whole onion slice hanging out of your mouth while its former fried batter home, is still lodged in your hand. No my friends; at Mastro's each bite somehow contained both onion and batter. If their onion ring know-how is so sound, imagine what the rest of their menu must be like.

Now if only Mastro's can learn how to prepare Malibu Chicken...

As good as it gets! When making a reservation, request to sit upstairs! And if let them know if you're celebrating a birthday.

The bread basket is amazing, especially the pretzel bread (yum!). I always get the New York Strip medium rare, very juicy and perfectly seasoned. For sides I'd recommend the lobster mashed potatoes, creamed corn and creamed spinach. For dessert, I like getting the seasonal berries, but you MUST MUST MUST get the Warm Butter Cake, you will not regret it!

I had the imported Kobe steak, 10 oz. I give that 5 stars of course. As for the others, I don't understand the raves for wet aged steaks. Probably cooked well and good char/seasoning I guess. Otherwise, if it's not dry aged, it can't be that good.

Carpaccio was excellent, great portion. Ordered a Manhattan and dude brought out the whole shaker so got basically 2 drinks out of it. Score. We were there for an early dinner and it wasn't too busy.

Also had the king crab gnocchi. Not sure if it was the slightly seafood-y smell or the truffle but it was a little strong.

Agree that the bread basket was good too.

I love this place! The service is always really good although it seems to take a long time to get your food sometimes. The meat is really good as well as the appetizers and side dishes. I love the oysters here and the bread. The buttercake is to die for. The Mac & Cheese and mashed potatoes and side veggies are also really good.
Can't wait to go back. Excellent!
There is a bar when you walk in and can eat there or sit on the main level. However, the upstairs is better. They sometimes have live music and there is also the roof where they have a full bar and a DJ for the younger crowd.
They have a pretty good drink selection.

Good food. Excellent service. Super Accomodating from the managerial staff. They truly care about their customers. nice dark atmosphere. loud in a good way. My husband took us to this steakhouse in Beverly Hills, Ca for our anniversary dinner. During our Very nice getaway trip from Atlanta. I had the Waygu Ribeye. Pricey at $100 for the one steak but delicious. I recommend this place.

I stopped keeping Kosher because of this steak --- it's that good.
The butter cake is absolutely amazing - literally. You are making a mistake if you do not order the butter cake at the end of your meal.

My husband will not eat stake any longer at anywhere, other than here. He doesn't think it's worth the calories if it's not going to taste like a Mastro's steak.

Let's let the two stars account for the the great service. We love CUT. We're major carnivores, but since I had a tremendous experience at a private party we held at Mastro's, we decided to celebrate my birthday as a special treat on July 3rd.
The service we great. We arrived on time and were seated in a quiet area per our request. From that point on, it was all downhill.
The skipped appetizers preferring to splurge on our meals instead - a bone in fillet and a bone in ribeye. We also indulged on several side dishes - the famous mash potatoes with lobster, onion rings and Brussels sprouts.
Bone in filet 7.5 out of 10 -- good
Bone in Ribeye-- 1st medium rare came out medium well the first time and rare the second time but full of fat and gristle - 1 our of 10 - as a ribeye lover have never had such a bad experience
The lobster mashed potatoes --- 4 out of 10... Just ok, definitely not worth the hype
The onion rings --- 1 out of 10, if that. The size of doughnuts and hard as rocks ... inedible ... The two of us didn't finish one between us
Brussel sprout - 10 out of 10... Fantastic.
So there you have it. The birthday cake was fantastic.
Maybe one day we'll give it another chance, but no time soon.

Good food, good service, great scene, but is it worth it for those prices?

If money is not an object, then this bumps up a star. With so much competition in the steakhouse space, I did not feel there steak stood out as differentiated from the other places. High quality, but also $15-20 more per steak at other spots which I find just as high quality (Boa, Fleming's, etc.). The macaroni and cheese side is still delicious and the brussel sprouts were excellent, but again, same sides I feel that I get at other spots with just as good flavoring.

Service - was good. Attentive enough and on top of it, but would give it 4 out of 5. Had to wait slightly at the front desk despite reservations and then watch a couple of parties enter after us and get seated right away despite there being multiple tables upstairs that were ready for us.

I had told the restaurant in advance that it was our wedding anniversary. No acknowledgement when I checked in. No acknowledgement when I sat down except for some overpriced champagne ready when we sat down which they explained in detail on the phone, but not to my wife when we sat down. I felt a bit 'taken' by the person initially setting our reservation when I explained it was our anniversary. The tone of the call was that they would acknowledge the event. The only acknowledgement was a complimentary piece of chocolate cake with some writing around the edges of the dish acknowledging it with Happy Anniversary in chocolate icing. I liked that part and took a picture. The cake was weak tasting. Really weak. Disappointed I ate it and didn't save room for another one of their yummy dishes.

Now the scene is still unbelievable. It was packed by people wanting to be seen and people wanting to watch. It was lively and upbeat and I'm sure a few folks at the bar looking to make that life connection (or just one night). Always fun to watch from a distance.

Bottomline, still good food, still high prices and skip telling them it's your anniversary or any other event unless you want a couple of overpriced champagne glasses and weak tasting (almost stale) chocolate cake.

Came here for a special occasion and it didn't disappoint. Literally one of the best steaks I've had in a restaurant. The lobster mashed potatoes were killer as well!

Mastro's is an excellent steakhouse that offers many prime cuts of beef along with an intimate atmosphere. It is very dark inside the restaurant and the tables are very close together, but the service is impeccable and the food is delicious. Our whole party pretty much ordered the filets and we were really happy with the taste. The lobster mashed potatoes and the macaroni and cheese are to die for! Sooooo tasty! The seafood tower looked amazing but was really expensive.

We also ordered their famous warm butter cake which was so warm and perfect but by that time we were stuffed! I am coming back when I want a great steak!

Hands down, a better steak than Morton's and Ruth's Chris. Everything is impeccable. Lobster mac is amazing, so is the seafood tower, and the butter cake. Went there for my birthday and got top notch service all the way. Side note: it's typically crowded at the bar AND you definitely need to make a reservation a few weeks in advance.

5 stars for lively and attentive staffs who are knowledgeable with the menu, exquisite location in BH, good looking people (more like, old men and their escorts), and of course, THE GREAT FOOD! (their WiFi password)

First, be sure to starve yourself the entire day before heading over here. Secondly, look no further- this is by far, THE best steak restaurant, EVER. I always recommend this restaurant for any special occasions! It's pricey but definitely worth every penny! Food is spectacular and portions are generous.

Cocktails: Chocolate Martini as well as the Dream Berry is my go-to drinks. The one thing I really love about their cocktails is that they give you a glass and MORE in the martini shaker!

Appetizers: The oysters are so fresh and creamy. It comes with a large ice tray with four dipping sauces. Shrimp cocktail kicks up the notch. It comes with dry ice so it makes it extra special when the waiter brings it out to your table. They're huge shrimps and very tasty.

Entree: The steaks are beyond amazing. Filet and Bone-In Rib Eye are to die for. The steak is thick, tender, and flavorful with great seasoning that seriously leaves you an impressive wow factor. They literally melt in your mouth. The steak alone is good so no need for steaksauce.

Sides: Can't ever go wrong with a side of mushroom and asparagus. Gorgonzola Mac&Cheese is amazing. They have this crazy layer of five gooey melted cheese with delightful texture on top of the macaronis that is so mouthwatering. If it's too cheesy, add jalapenos. It'll have a spicy kick to it! I haven't tried the Lobster Mashed Potato yet but I hear it's delicious as well.

Dessert: As guilty as it sounds, I always say it's either my birthday or an anniversary- to get a free moist chocolate cake with raspberries. It also comes with a side of whipped cream. If you're not a chocolate fan, then get their warm Butter cake- it is marvelously delicious. Good crust to the cake and garnished with various fresh fruit and vanilla ice cream. Such a delectable treat at the end!

Enjoy!!!

I love Mastros! Even though this is a chain (and I do love the Vegas location at Crystals) this restaurant definitely stands out even in Beverly Hills.

I was in LA to speak at a conference and the organizers took the speakers and attendees out to dinner. The service here is so on point and the food is consistently delicious. Obviously their steaks are delicious but my favorite bites are:

-Crab stuffed mushrooms
-Gnocchi
-Sea bass
-Oysters

And of course
-WARM BUTTER CAKE (with fresh whipped cream)

There's nothing more I can add to the gushing of compliments that their dessert deserves but I will say that for after eating such a heavy meal, after your first bite of their warm butter cake, you don't even think twice about continuing to eat dessert. It's just so. darn. good.

I will definitely be back soon :)

Fantastic. Probably the best steakhouse in the city. Everything is top-notch, consistent for over 20 years. Amazing steaks, great cocktails, professional and courteous waitstaff, great setting. Can't go wrong with Mastros. Pricey but you get what you pay for. A gem when it comes to steak and fish. Great wines to match. Make sure you get the butter cake, or two. You've never experienced anything like it. A+

Service and ambience are excellent, which pulls my rating up from 2 to 3 stars. However, both my gf and I found the food subpar. The best dish we had was the French onion soup, and even that was a bit too Lipton-ish for my taste. The brussels sprouts were over-salted, and both my bone-in ribeye and her New York strip were underseasoned and bland.

At the end of dinner, my gf commented that she thought that the steaks I cook at home taste better. We were both disappointed.

what else can i say?

lobster mash was amazing, huge chunks of lobster.
petit filet. medium rare. (plate comes out hot and will cook slightly on its way over to you)
amazing service.
DJ on the third floor.

you will leave feeling disgusting and food coma-ed, but you will spend an hour happily devouring and admiring each morsel of your plate.

The best steak house in LA in my opinion. The steak is delish, just right and juicy. Even the veggies are to die for. Yes, I'm talking about veggies lol

For dessert, the butter cake was my fav! Just melts in your mouth ;)

Our waitress was super friendly. Plus, they have a little bar area downstairs where you can get drinks while you're waiting.. We had a reservation but took a couple minutes to be seated.

Con: We sat on the second floor and it was REALLY loud and REALLY dark. Didn't expect that at all. Wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for an intimate, romantic dinner.. Def would go again with a group of friends tho.

Valet was only $7-8 dollars on a Saturday night, not bad imo

I guess there's no need to add to the multitude of reviews and praise for Mastro's, but here's a few things I observed.

1) They have certified Japanese Wagyu beef from Japan (after they were banned for a while) with certificates to prove it. A lot more marbled and fattier than other domestic or Australian wagyu steaks I've had.
2) It's incredibly immature yet fun to use your fork to fish for lobster in your mashed potatoes and exclaim 'AHA!' as you gloat about it to the person sitting across from you.
3) There's no shame in taking the king crab black truffle gnocchi home with you because it's that good.
4) The server knows how to properly decant a bottle of wine by slowing pouring it over a light source (candle) to watch for sediment. Dear waiter, you passed the test where many before you at other establishments have failed.

It's the little things that make all the difference. Thanks Mastros!

The ambience is lively and the decor is very chic. There are two levels and I was seated on the second level a little further away from the live music.

As far as the food goes:

* French Onion Soup: Superb rendition of this classic! This is a dish that is basic, but is hard to pull of as it usually tends toward the sweet side of things. This version was really balanced with the sweetness of the onions offset by the savory cheese on top as well as some not-soggy bread cubes for texture.

* Double Porterhouse (48oz!): This is a steak obviously meant for more than one person, so I'm thinking the regular porterhouse would be really similar. We got the rare plus and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I would expect no less from this kind of steakhouse.

* Sugar Snap Peas: Delicious, light complement to the steak. Light, sweet, and delicately seasoned and had a great crunch to them.

* Butter Cake: Very addicting cake. Think pound cake, but a warm rendition served with ice cream and whipped cream. Yup, that's right: butter, cream, and more cream!

The service was attentive, friendly, and very helpful in deciding what to order and how things are done.

Mastro's is one of the best steakhouses in LA and for those that haven't tried it yet, you should definitely skip out on those daily fast foods and save some $$$ to try this place. As I suggested, this place will put a dent in your wallet not because the steak itself is pretty pricy but the bombtastic sides are also on the $$$ side.

First of all, hopefully someone from management can read this review and can take this seriously: Can you please brighten the lights upstairs? I understand the restaurant is trying to create an intimate dark setting but when 99% of your customers are requesting pen lights or flashlights to read the menu, that means its pretty dang dark. Not asking to turn on the lights but maybe few candles on the table or at least some dimmed lights can really improve the dining experience. I just felt weird not being able to see my food or my friends/family.

Besides the pitch dark dining experience, the food/service itself is out of this world. As a complimentary starter, each table gets an assortment of bread (pretzels, cheese breadsticks, baguette). For those that don't know which steak to get, their ribeye and filet are the most popular choices. Ribeye is the more fattier cut which gives more flavor, the filet is leaner but more tender. It all boils down to preference but whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed. I would recommend a medium to medium rare; anything over is killing the already killed meat and anything under is just raw beef.

As for sides, you have to go with the lobster mashed potatoes. IT IS TO DIE FOR. Mastro's does not skimp out on their lobster meat for those that are worried. The spinach and the corn are also good side dishes but not memorable. These sides dishes are family style so they are meant to be shared (although the lobster mashed will probably go out the fastest).

I definitely recommend all steak lovers to check this place out and really experience what a good cut of steak tastes like!

I've experienced better... :((( This branch maybe popular to some people but I think this one will be my least favorite. :((( Time to eat some steak!

Food: Next

Ambiance: Don't bring your date here! You can't hear each other. :((( Or maybe I need a hearing aid. :((( (I think I'm just getting old.) ;)

Customer Service: Good

Parking: Valet or Meter

Conclusion: I'll try the other branch. :)

Note: Happy Birthday to my friend!:)))

Have to put dining in this place in your things to do list before you die. Probably more than once because it is really that good. My wife and I like to have the rib-eye. I like bone-in since it has so much flavor that way. Meat is really tender and buttery. Similar to what I get from Ruth's Chris. But Mastro's does not have the sizzling plate from Ruth's Chris' which I really love. In my opinion though, being a steak person myself, Ruth's Chris steak recipe is much better.

Side Dishes are plenty and very tasty. Keep this in mind. Be prepared to take some home. Mastro's kicks Ruth's Chris' ass on to the curb with their side dishes.

I am allergic to shrimp/crabs/lobster.. it is a hit/miss kinda deal for me. I guess when it is not done right, I get an attack like hives and difficulty breathing. I take risks when the food is really that damn good. I took the risk on Mastro's lobster mashed potatoes. Luckily I didn't swell up or anything. But if I did, I'm happy to have tried it because like I said: It is just too damn good. Their mac and cheese are pretty popular, it is pretty good, but I mean.. how good can mac/cheese get? Maybe this is it for mac and cheese. Don't get me wrong. I gobbled the whole thing. I might have left a little bit for my wife. I mean I have to, right?

They have an ample selection of good wines as well. I'm not sure if we had dessert because the meal is really filling and we ordered 3 sides I think lol.

Great ambience, nice place, good service. I can get loud at times. $$$$. Would come back anytime we are doing some shopping at Beverly Hills.

The BEST dinner tonight, especially when they have the special 28 oz Wagyu bone in rib-eye available!!! Consistently - my absolute favorite special, which is OFF the menu. The only negative is that this special is not always in season or available. It even beats the Wagyu steaks at high end and pricey - BOA, STK, and Craft - which each carry very spectacular Wagyu steaks too, yet my favorite is definitely the tender, buttery, marbled Mastro's Wagyu!!! :-). But haven't tried the Wagyu steaks at CUT yet..

I have been to this BeHi location on many numerous occasions, for double dates, birthdays, now... an anniversary celebration. Always fun, busy, lively, loud, and eventful.

Spectacular service - from the hostess upon arrival, to our wonderful servers throughout our meal! They sat us at our requested booth (on the 2nd floor)! Got our extra serving of pretzel breads and cheese cracker breads too. Very yummy! Wonderful range of wines too. We were on a double date, celebrating our anniversary! Everyone absolutely loved the quality food.

For the table, we shared Caesar salad, jambalaya shrimp, jumbo shrimp cocktails, cheese baked potato, mushrooms, cream of corn, and of course my HUGE bone in Wagyu, and our couple friends got the filet mignon. Every single dish was superb, and we had very high expectations!

You can valet park, street park (watch the meters), or find many near-by parking garages. Very convenient and accessible.

We all skipped lunch, to enjoy our anticipated dinner. As we stuffed our bellies to the max, they then spoiled us with an anniversary butter cake!!! Very generous classy touch! I cannot wait to celebrate my upcoming birthday here again, too much fun - priceless moments! A MUST for Wagyu steak lovers...

FOOD: The bread there is delicious. My favorite was the soft pretzel rolls. The classically prepared beef carpaccio, however, was not so great. I've had better elsewhere. The filet I had was perfectly cooked and buttery. The side dishes were also pretty tasty. I enjoyed the mashes potatoes, though the macaroni and cheese wasn't the best I've ever had. Dessert was the butter cake, which was good. Overall, the food was great, but I've had similar at places that have cost less.

SERVICE: Service was a little slow. It took a while to get our orders in and receive our dessert. It wasn't what I expect from a restaurant of that caliber. The other issue I had was with the family-style sides. The staff helped serve some of them, but the others were in heavy, hot dishes that were hard to deal with.

AMBIANCE: It was extremely loud inside the restaurant. I couldn't hear anything that was being said from across the table. It was also very dark- perhaps the darkest eating experience I've ever had. The waitress provided a flashlight for us to read the menus. I think my steak was cooked right, but honestly I couldn't tell what color it was. Another issue was the place was packed. Tables are placed close to each other, and we literally had to push and shove through crowds of people standing around to get through the lobby on our way out.

Overall, I'd personally check out a different restaurant on Canon, though I might consider Mastro's if I'm looking for a good steak and a trendy atmosphere. It just didn't match the hype for me.

Go for a special occasion!

Okay..so I scrubbed through all the yelp reviews, tried it and have the best advice for you newcomers. I wanted to take my boyfriend out for a fancy birthday dinner since he is a steak-lover. Service was excellent!

We dressed up a bit and had a great time! BUT, Some recommendations:

1. Share the Chef's Cut bone-in Ribeye! SO much flavor and more than enough to share for two instead of spending more and having too much meat. AND, it is much tastier than the filet mignon which was already tasty but inferior to the Ribeye. We each got two large steaks, one ribeye and one filet mignon when we should have just gotten the Chefs Cut. You get the point...

2. Sides:
----Lobster Mashed Potatoes-($34)--Delicious chunks of lobster. Worth a try for a fancy night out...why not...

----Creamed Corn($9-13) - tasty but not anything extraordinary. Get something else.

3. Valet is cheap---pull in front of the restaurant and they'll take your car. We passed it by mistake.

4. Seating---Make reservations and request to sit where there is a piano (the penthouse!) Much classier and romantic, and my only regret.

5. You get FREE birthday cake which is delicious. Let them know in advance.

6. Wine...we got the cheapest bottle ($40) to go with our fancy dinner.

About $250-270

I was very excited to try Mastros, because well, ITS MASTROS! Everyone raves about Mastros Steakhouse. So when I finally went, I was a bit disappointed with my meal.

First let me say my steak was cooked perfectly, but it was a bit bland. I'm not the type to make a big fuss about it and return the steak, so I just added more salt and pepper to it. No biggie. But still believe its a bit hyped up than what it is.

Their lobster mashed potatoes were tasty.
Their brussels sprouts, I've had better but still good.

I'm not really a huge fan of the bread they offer. And I'm a HUGE bread fan. So when I saw so many different types of bread in there, I wasn't really feeling it. I like just having one type with good butter. I guess its good for some people but I didn't enjoy too many different types they had. Pretzel bread, french bread, cheese bread, a few others I don't quite remember.

Will I be back? Not sure. Maybe after I try a few other well known steakhouses in Los Angeles. I've tried two so far, this was my 3rd. I'm going down the list of all the A-list steakhouses.

Abandon your healthy diet for an evening (Don't worry your lighter wallet will balance out the weight gain). Mastro's is a hell of a treat! I have never left here in a bad state of mind. On the other hand, after every visit my stomach gets a little more resentful of me for over-eating (I just don't understand how everyone else is all cheery, and energetic while waiting on there car). Now lets start in order of courses.

Pretzel Bread and butter, Enough said!

I also usually get French Onion Soup - it's 4-star good

Now lets get into the meat and bones of why we're droppin' the C-notes. I'm a huge fan of every cut of steak I have tried here (Seafood is good, but come on, we know why we are here).

Lobster mashed potatoes are great (a tad over-rated / over priced but still makes the cut... well it gets to sit next to the cut at least),

The Buttercake is one of my favorite deserts ever, definitely top 3. I have coined a phrase when I come here, "Steak and Cake," e.g. - "I've had a rough day, I'm gunna go Steak and Cake tonight."

My Favorite steakhouse in Los Angeles. (Texas-born and raised so you can trust me)

WoW ~ WoW ~ WoW ~ WoW ~ WoW ~ WoW ~ WoW ~ WoW ~ WoW!!!

After experiencing it myself, now I truly understand all these great reviews!
I went there this past Monday with my fiancé to celebrate our reunion with good food (we were apart for 2 months) and we had a pleasant experience!

- Service was great (I asked for a different table as hate tables where there is too much traffic; close to kitchen, restrooms, can't enjoy my time and they easily re-accommodated us.)

- Food absolutely amazing! (Portions are big, we couldn't finish ours and we didn't even order any appetizer as we really wanted to savor the steak but DO really try the Lobster Mashed Potatoes it is as good as they say)

- Great live music and ambience!

- It was just PERFECT! I believe they will never disappoint you specially when you go celebrate special occasions.

Mmmm yummy!

I was taken to Mastro's for my birthday!! Weee! My friend and I shared the double Porterhouse steak, which had some filet cuts as well as New York strip cuts. Pardon my lack of knowledge of steaks, since I'm still a noob when it comes to meat :P The double Porterhouse was enough to fill up two people. Even when I took it home and microwaved it the next day ( I know, shame on me to microwave a $100 steak), it tasted just as succulent and juicy. I may not know a lot about steaks, but I know that that's an indication of some good meat.

We also ordered the lobster mashed potatoes which was delicious!!! The mashed potatoes were so buttery and creamy and there was a generous amount of lobster.

Service was great and the ambiance was nice. I can't wait to visit you again, Mastro's!

Mastro's is a most beloved "extraordinary event" eating spot for both my spouse and myself. This time, we feasted in the Penthouse.

We had a jug of champagne, lobster pureed potatoes, he had steak and I had the burrata salad.

Came to Mastros BH to hang out with some friends. They had the Austrailian Wagu and a Japanese Wagu as the special on the menu. I have to say it was the first time I was dissappointed in Mastro's. Normally I order the Filet Mignon and its perfect. Both Wagus were marbled but the fat was lest intra muscular marbling and more pronounced in the texture which made it taste fatty instead of tender.

However, service is still top notch and the rest of the foods were amazing.

Based solely on the food. The ambiance, staff, all here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/…

The prices are definitely pretty steep and I came here knowing that, but seeing all the reviews on Yelp rave about the steak here, I really wanted to try it out myself. The bread basket that is given has some good bread in there, along with some really weird tasting bread. I liked the soft rolls, but the cheese bread was really hard and had a really strange aftertaste. Also, the food takes forever to come, so while I was waiting for the food, I ate the bread. -_- Not a good idea.

My boyfriend ordered the shrimp cocktail. It came very nicely presented with some dry ice and a lemon wrapped in cloth. Cute. But I wasn't very happy about the fact that there was only three pieces of shrimp. Yes, they were really big shrimp, but ... there was only 3 pieces.

I wanted to try the bone-in filet, but since my boyfriend was set on that one, I opted for the bone-in ribeye. I know a lot of people really like that one, so I was really excited. Definitely should have got the filet instead. The filet was really tender and really soft. It wasn't as savory as the ribeye, but it did melt in my mouth. I think that was good. But the ribeye was too thick and hard to chew. The sides were really salty and fatty. I only ate a few bites before taking home the rest of the steak. I also got the ribeye as medium rare, which wasn't a good decision. Medium probably would have been better.

Since this was a once in a lifetime chance to eat here, we ordered the lobster mashed potatoes. If you like mashed potatoes and lobster, you will like this $33 mashed potato side dish. I am more of a fan of the chunky mashed potatoes, so the potatoes were a little too runny for me; however, I did like the thick pieces of lobster in that dish. Also got the green beans with almond slices. That was really delicious, and the almond enhanced the flavor of the beans. But after taking it home and eating it the next day, I saw the amount of butter and oil that was in both of those dishes ... no wonder it was good.

And we did receive a complimentary chocolate cake from the pastry chef along with a really big pan of whipped cream. The chocolate cake wasn't too sweet, and had more of a sour undertone with the raspberries alongside of it. But I was pretty stuffed and wanted to take pictures of the cake rather than eat it. The whipped cream was really fluffy and light and not sweet at all, which makes it easy to eat a lot of it at once. We ended up taking the cake home and the next time that I ate it, it was really good. Everything was boxed up in these tiny black boxes with the Mastro's sticker sealed on top in a really nice bag.

My dad thought the ribeye was pretty good the next day that he ate it, but I really thought the filet was much better. Definitely go with the filet if you're going to go all out. The ribeye is bigger, but the filet is much tastier. I honestly didn't think the food was worth the price. Yes it was good, but yes I have had better. I read somebody's review mention Black Angus, and I did think of their food while eating here. Also, my friend had some really good home cooked steaks off the grill that were comparable if not BETTER than Mastro's. I think you pay for the food and the experience, and I thought both weren't up to par, which is why I won't be coming back again.

Mastro's is a favorite "special occasion" dining spot for both my husband and myself. This time, we dined in the Penthouse.
We had a bottle of champagne, lobster mashed potatoes, he had steak and I had the burrata salad. The staff gave us a complimentary chocolate cake for our one-year anniversary.

Very pricey but worth every penny!
the only reason i am giving 3 stars is because the our waitress pretty much followed us out when she thought we didnt tip her we happily let her know a big wad of cash was waiting for her on the table...

This is absolutely, positively, my favorite restaurant EVER. Every single good thing you've heard about this place is true, and more!

Going here is like an event. You plan for it (yes, your wallet will be hurting) but be prepared to be bedazzled by Mastro's wonderful customer service, its classy and elegant ambiance, and most importantly, extraordinary food. I'm a steak girl, and the steak is as good as it gets. I've been here twice, and I've experienced both the 18 oz bone in filet mignon, and 22oz bone in ribeye. The lobster mashed potatoes are AMAZING... reason enough to go to Mastros on their own! And plentiful enough to be shared by 2 or 3 people.

I look forward to dining here again sometime soon :)

Seriously... my favorite steakhouse. Why? Great cuts of SEASONED meat... I hate going to a steakhouse and getting under seasoned meat but you know what??? It happens ALL THE TIME.

Mastro's does not make this mistake. Their steaks are so well seasoned that you don't want to stop eating them. Their sides are amazing as well.

Here's the run down:

Meats you should think about:

Bone in Filet - Nice and tender and super flavorful
Bone in Rib-Eye - So fatty and tender. Well seasoned - Personally it's my favorite.
Kansas City Strip - I haven't personally had the strip but i hear GREAT things.

Sides you should get at:

Mac & Cheese (Add Jalapeno and Bacon!) - This is great. Probably my favorite side at Mastro's.
Crab & Truffle Gnocchi - Needed more crab in my opinion. Or maybe I just got the shaft when this was portioned out. The Gnocchi itself could be a little more al dente. I felt it was too soft. But you can never go wrong with truffle oil. The best part was that the table shared the side so the waitress portioned everything out onto our plates and some residual truffle oil mixed in with my steak and gave my steak a kiss. It was a perfect little touch to my already delicious steak.
Lobster Mashed Potato - I will say that it's not bad... but I don't really see the appeal of mixing the two ingredients together. I would personally just rather order a lobster tail and mashed potatoes and eat them separately.
Creamed Corn - You can't beat creamed corn. Nice and sweet and salty.

Butter cake is awesome. Fresh whipped cream, delicious ice cream. GET IT! (And this is coming from a guy who doesn't eat desserts)....

I love Mastro's... if you are going to a steakhouse... I think you should come out to this one. If course it's expensive... don't plan on coming here and saving a penny or two. When you come to Mastro's... spend, spend, spend. You'll thank me for it later...

Oh I also forgot to mention.. if you want some seafood but not full orders of anything. Get the Seafood Tower. They let you order individual pieces of the seafood... you can get 3 shrimp, 2 oysters, 3 crab claws etc... not cheap, but very convenient.

What can I say about Mastro's that has not been said before...It's the best steak I have EVER had...did I mention EVER. Combine that with their renowned Lobster Mash Potatoes which are also the best I have ever had and the result is food comma.

We ordered their 48 oz. Double Cut Porterhouse and an order of Lobster Mash. We tried to eat like crazy and still ended up with a bunch of leftovers.

While I admit that dinner for two with some decent wine will set your back $300+, it is totally worth the money as after eating here, no other steak will every taste the same.

FYI, anyone giving this place less than 4 stars is likely a competitor or doesn't know anything about decent steak.
