Worst food in KC. Sauces and dressings out of a bottle. The tuna salad is stated to have a "vinegrette" but it's nothing more than Thai Sweet Chile sauce right out of the bottle. Gross - not appropriate. Like corn syrup on greens. The kitchen butchered the tuna - it was torn up and unappealing and was left grey and uncarmelized, not "seared" at all. We had terrible service. Declined a second drink and the waiter brought it anyway. Didn't drink it. Was charged for it. All around bad experience. I usually give a place three chances but no need when the food comes out of a can. Will never go back. I recommend no one ever patronize this place unless they have the lowest of standards. In that case McDonald's is at least much less expensive!
Review Source:Last night I had dinner at Michael Forbes Bar and Grill, located in Brookside. I meant to go to Michael Smith in Crossroads district but after a confusing conversation with Siri I found myself at Michael Forbes. I figured, what the heck, I'll go ahead and try it out.
The atmosphere is very family-oriented, although there is a nice bar off to the right. Upon being seated, I was served a fresh, homemade sweet roll. That was nice. I started off with the Chicken Pesto pizza covered with artichoke hearts, red onion, homemade pesto, grilled chicken and mozzarella cheese. The flavors were all nice, a solid pizza overall. For the main course I ordered the Seattle Style Salmon with orzo pasta and fresh green beans. The salmon was stellar. Glazed with olive oil, sweet soy and garlic, the salmon tasted fresh and flavorful. I give it extra points for being so big.
All in all, my mistake turned out to be a pretty tasty one - although it's the type of place that an "older crowd" would hang out at. And eventually I hope to get to Michael Smith, barring there are no other restaurants in this town with the name Michael.
