Does anyone know why this place has been closed for weeks now? I'm getting nervous. Especially for the deli meat. Their attached bar is still as packed as ever with the local whiskey tango set; I'm sure they know the story on the store but I'm too afraid to step foot inside since I haven't had a tetanus shot in some time. I've thrice set off to Miska's on foot to grab some beer, wine and a bacon club for the road only to find them closed during business hours with no type of signage indicating why or when they'll reopen. I hate walking home empty handed. How do you run a business this way?
Thumbs Down.
I used to live across the street from this place, which was pretty nice. Â The employees are very friendly, maybe because I was a regular. Â My favorite place about this was their wide selection of international beer & liquor. Â Nothing better than coming home & having easy access to a nice bottle of Le fin du monde & it was especially convenient when I needed some last minute ice & coolers for the bbq I had. Â It's polish owned & they have a deli, but I never tried that....& also a bar, unfortunately I never went there either but it seems to have neighborhood regulars.
Review Source:Everything is a bit more expensive than it needs to be. Â And the counter service can be slow. Â They card everyone for everything. Â And they have a lot of annoying Lotto customers.
Almost every sandwich Ive had has been decent. Â And they have a lot of "stuff." Â By stuff, I mean promotional items that they are trying to sell. Â
Been in the store, but never the bar. Â It is a pretty dumpy looking bar full of old drunks and bad intentions.
Very decent liquor selection and a good amount of beers. Â A lot of 40's/22's in case you are a wino on yelp. Â
Now, if you'll excuse me, I am gonna daydream about winos on yelp.
After reading a great review on this place I decided last nite was the nite to try it out. And I can't help but to agree with my fellow yelper.
This place was pretty cool. Its a grocery/convenient store with a deli and a bar in the back. Never seen a setup quite like this one, but I wish I lived closer to it because its definitely a one-stop shop!
I ordered the turkey bacon club for my boyfriend because I read that they made it really big and he always has a huge appetite. It was monstrous. So big in fact, that he was only able to eat half! I never thought I'd see the day when MY boyfriend couldnt finish a sandwich. I ordered the corned beef melt which was of average size but still really tasty. I really just wish that it had sauerkraut on it. Â .
They had a really great selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages which is always a plus. And there were tons of snacks and other grocery items.
Other yelpers said that the staff was less than pleasant when they visited, but my experience was the opposite. Everyone said hello and thank you, and the girl that made my sandwich even smiled when I told a corny joke.
The only thing I didnt like was that my corned beef melt wasnt bigger and that the prices were a little higher than i expected. My fellow yelpers said I'd pay between 4 and 5 bucks for a sandwich and I paid more like close to 6 and 7.
All in all, I say this place is worth checking out!
