I love this place! Chicago Underground Comedy has never, and will never disappoint me. The comedians are hilarious and the crowd always gives a great vibe... except when douche-bags like Jason S. and his friends come and hate on the comedians. Â
you can disregard anything he wrote, he has no idea what he's talking about; so to you Jason S. Â The first comic definitely had his "s**t together."
People, seriously come here, every Tuesday night at 9:30 to 11-something, It's a $5 fee at the door, $3 drinks and totally funny comedians!
This decidedly above ground comedy showcase has got it all. Â If comedy showcases we're people, this one would be super athletic, down to earth, smart, AND rich. Â It wouldn't be the prettiest girl at the ball but it would be the one who moonlights as a leather-clad superheroine and passes as a cute librarian during the day. Â What else do you need? Â Booze, usually functional bathrooms, and some of the best stand-ups around. Â And by "around" I, of course, mean "anywhere" and "ever". Â Check plus!
Review Source:So, to start off I would like to note that I have only been here once, so my ratIng at this point is based off of only one show. However, the show that i saw, for a stand up comedy show, was terrible!! I went out with a couple friends who had been here once before and said it was great. And then there was this show. Things started off promising with the host; he was funny, energetic and the right amount of engaging with the audience. I would say the host was easily the funniest person to come on stage this night. And incase you are wondering, I went Tuesday, June 5th. From the the time the host was done with his act, things went down hill.
My friends that had gone before even admitted that the acts were terrible compared to the first time they went (or for any stand up show). The first two acts were two guys who could not remember their own jokes and were completely all over the place in the train of thought it was not even funny. They maybe funny in normal conversations because of how awkward they are, but are not funny in stand up. The 3rd act was a female, who for the most part was semi-entertaining. The next two acts were females who were both anything but funny and who's acts were not at all stand up. One read some script that made no sense and the other seemed like she was trying to be Kristen Wig in an SNL skit, but was not funny. The final act was "eh". That is the ear way I can describe it. His jokes had potential to be funny, and were a little, but he dragged them out waaaay too long.
I would be willing to give this another shot, I just hope that there are all new acts and they actually bring funny comedians
