Monster Sushi

Just was not impressed at all. Over priced and it wasn't even THAT good. Yea the rolls are big but what good is it if they aren't delicious? If I'm going to spend almost $30 on sushi it better blow me away. Disappointed!!

My wife & I came over to the Summit Monster Sushi while we were last staying with her sister in NJ.  There are a great deal of up scale (bordering on snooty) places in this area of Summit.  It is all very lovely but also pricey with a tourist trap feel to certain sections.
All things considered, & even though it was a little pricey, Monster Sushi did not disappoint & we had a nice & varied lunch in there.  The service was good & friendly.  My Uni (one of my sushi favorites) was very well done & quite fresh.  My wife enjoyed her Spicy Tuna roll combo, & they had some nice hot dishes as well.
The decor is fun & the BYOB an option worth doing when you visit.  They offered city style maki rolls (albeit, at city prices.) & a couple of Omakasa options that were very expensive but exciting to experience, if you are willing to toss caution to the wind.

If you want sushi, walk three blocks over to Taka Sushi where the prices are lower and you can actually taste the fish.

I stopped in Monster Sushi today for lunch and should have walked out as soon as I saw that every roll was $2 or 3 more than other restaurants in the area.

Instead I stayed and spent $20 on edamame, a soda, and ONE Alaska roll.  For reasons I cannot comprehend it took over 15 minutes for my roll to arrive, even though the restaurant was not busy.  

As earlier reviewers have stated - it is not high quality sushi.  Usually an Alaska roll is 1/3 tuna, 1/3 avocado, and 1/3 cucumber.  This was mostly cucumber, with a touch of avocado and a small slice of tuna.  It was loosely rolled.

Perhaps the rest of the menu is better, but I would not return for sushi.
