Mr Dan's Restaurant

While Mr. Dan's is lacking in atmosphere, it only takes one bite to understand why they're still standing after so many years.  I was introduced in 1995, after moving to room with a friend in Speedway, IN from FL.  It was always our remedy after a night of drinking & dancing in Broad Ripple and within driving distance of our job.  

Over the holiday break I stopped by the new location on 25th/Keystone and picked up lunch for my home bodies; several Big Dan's meals w/ everything, an order of wings, a plain cheeseburger and a smoothie.  We opted to mix it up and try the regular AND home fries.    

My burger was as yummy as I'd remembered, so greasy good!  It left me craving another, and had the snow not been falling hard, I might have driven back.  My 7 yr old's cheeseburger was cut in half because it was so big, but she came back for the rest, so no 'left overs' for me!  The fries were hot and crispy and gone in a flash too.I didn't try the wings, but should add that they don't come with celery/blue cheese like most places - in case that's a deal breaker for you.

They've added 'treats' to their menu like funnel cakes, ice cream, cotton candy and the like, but were out of all but smoothies when we were there, thank goodness!

For years I drove by different locations in town and never paid much attention to Mr. Dan's, just seemed like a hole in the wall.  And now after stopping by there and having a Double Dan w/cheese and home fries, I discovered what I had been missing out on all this time.  Will definitely frequent this establishment again that could have the backdrop in the movie Argo.

Nothing special here. Dan's burger deluxe is not "deluxe" and the only thing that stood out was the Big Hoss sandwich that has a fried egg in it!

Oh, and the fries are over salty.
