Driven by scores of times, decided to finally stop, try out the Chicago-style dogs at Murph's Place for a late lunch. Street parking, no meters. The food was fine, hotdogs dressed within the parameters of "Chicago-style" The fries could've been hotter and crispier. Food prep area was clean and the food preparation was correct and sanitary. The stand's interior was clean and shows it's vintage, worn in. pedigree. 7-8 worn barstool are available for those eating in.  A suitable hotdog stand when in the area of Elston and Montrose. Nothing extraordinary but a good grab n go lunch spot.

Another Great little Chicago hot dog and burger joint. Murphs Place has been here for as long as i can remember and has always had the same Korean owners. A husband and wife who always seem to remember your face if you grew up in the area I just stopped in to grab a Double Cheeseburger special and cheese fries. I have not found a better double cheese burger in all of Chicago.

The place is not by any means a classy place to eat out at but people have been raising their kids on the food here for years and the prices are great for the amount of food you receive. The counters are layered with paint on paint and you can still read all the carved in names on the wooded counters which has a old school feel to it. If your even in the area take the time out to stop and pay Murphs place a visit the food is good and the prices are great.

If around Elston and Montrose, you are faced with a few stands to choose from in getting a hot dog (burger, fried something, ice cream related, ....)

As for Murph's weiner, a unique little thing that they do is cut the tips off the crunchy pickle spear. Don't ask me why and I don't know where all those little tips go, maybe some little pickle tip heaven in the sky, but they are gone.

The plain bun was purrfectly steamed with a small Vienna and came with frozen shoestring fries, all for $2.15. The toppings were fresh, cut neat and the dog wasn't overcooked. Almost Chicago seven, you'll have to ask for celery salt, if they have it. They do have a bulky salt shaker though on the ordering counter rigged with a chain for those derelicts that also like to steal gas station bathroom keys. C'mon, they sell disposable salt shakers for next to nothing and the granules of salt are all over the counter.

This place is shabby, maybe shabbier than Susie's in front and behind the counter. However, you can tell that they try to keep this place shabby presentable chic. I mean, they try to keep the place as clean as they can, just that things are old and run down. It looks horrible from the outside and not much better on the inside.

More room to sit down than Susie's for sure and if you want to park on the lot, yes you can and in the back. An Asian couple runs this place, just like J's further south on Elston. Kinda the same setup, free shoestring fries with everything, but Murph's has more fried side crap.
