Ok, if you want to experience real Pakistani cuisine, come to Naan on Devon.  I know a lot of people say the service is pretty bad (and it is), but good food + poor service beats bad food + great service any day of the week. Anyways, I went with a few of my friends and ordered the palak gosht (basically mutton cooked in spinach) + 2 oversized butter naan's to soak up the gravy/curry. Needless to say, it did not disappoint . The spinach gravy was spiced perfectly and the goat meat was super tender and wonderfully prepared (If it weren't for the high oil/fat content, I could probably eat this dish for every meal for the rest of my life...I'm only half kidding).

Unfortunately, my friends (who are not Indian) did not have a great experience. One of them had ordered mutton korma, which was tasteless (and was about an hour late) and the other had ordered frontier beef which was also not really up to snuff. I'm not sure if the cooks in the back are racist or my friends just ordered the wrong dishes, but their meals were very mediocre to say the least.

If you're from the subcontinent and are really craving food from Karachi/Lahore/etc. come here, you will not be disappointed. As for you white/Asian people, stick with India Garden or Tiffin.

Recently I checked this spot out with a friend.  "Harold and Kumar"  We hit it in the early morning hours, I think it was about 5:30 or 6 am when we sat at a table.  Restaurants of this caliber can sometimes be found working all around the clock or up till 7 am, or just starting for the day from early morning hours.  These "hotels" as they are called in India which are what we Americans would call diners.  Or as I like to call "Cabbie hotels" because you can often find Cabbie's dining here, also because of the hours you might run into a few H1b visa college students (International students).

A few quick details:  Service stunk.  Food was okay.  Biriyani was too damn expensive & had more bones than meat. Still only a few pieces.  Service stunk.
Others that arrived after us received their items before us.  It was obvious that speaking the language gets you quicker service. Or perhaps I have it wrong and those guys, I mean all of those guys were regulars.  But really how long does it take to microwave some food?  Their version of Butter Chicken was probably one of the best dishes we had of what we ordered.  I don't think it was Butter Chicken though, it was an off shoot but the guy wasn't too descriptive of anything, so whatever it was, it was decent.

We hit this place after a night of painting the town red as they say.  I mention this because after a long night (weeknight) of being out, we want to eat something that will fill the stomach and hopefully put us down nicely for the few hours of sleep we can salvage before going to work the following afternoon.  Above I mentioned a few times that service stunk. It did.  Not only that but it was as if they made us wait till they served everyone else.  At 6 am, sitting at a diner dive, food should not take fifty minutes.  All the items except the bread were reheated, for sure!  I was still in an intoxicated manner, so, like any irritated person might, I started singing Lil' John's - Get Low.  Specifically the line " Sweat drops off my balls".  I was trying to get my buddy to realize that no one was paying attention to us.  Which they weren't.  Looking back, I laugh about it and it was pretty funny.  I was LOUD. Needless to say, the $30 something dollars we overspent here was not worth the effort.

Recently went here with some friends with a simple desire for naan and/or samosas. And boy did we get some naan. The staff wasn't entirely friendly, nor were they rude, rather they were just rather busy than anything else.
Anywho, the food was prepared fresh but rather fast and damn was is delicious. I got the chicken biryaki, one of my friends got curry, and my girlfriend got a spinach and cheese thing that I can't remember the name of, and then we all got naan. Everything was simply fantastic, very filling, and all very cheap to, with my meal coming out at only about $7. Then naan itself is huge and only 75 cents which I recommend above all else. Also their hours are from 2PM till 7Am making it a great late night munchie destination.

P.S. Watch out for the bones. The meat fall right off but sometimes it slips into your food and gives you a tad bit of a surprise. Definitely recommend.

Call me too American, but I'm not a fan. I can't eat meat on bones. Its just an issue I have, it grosses me out. Anyway, I was on Devon getting my eyebrows done and started craving chicken tikka. I never knew it would be so hard to find!

After walking about 10 blocks, I found Naan. Ok, sounds Indian enough. I went in to be welcomed by a big sign saying "none has the right to be worshiped except Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah." I just want my chicken tikka, not some religious intervention! I don't even think the owners were Indian because they were definitely speaking Arabic and were very light skinned. Anyway I waited and waited for it, while the worker brought out food for everyone but me. Finally when I got it, I had missed my bus. Fail! By the time I arrived home, I reeked of onions (they literally put a whole onion in the box). I opened it and noticed these big chicken legs covered in red crust.

It wasn't too bad, but something I probably would never eat again. I just didn't like the way I was treated. Obviously they were treating me this way because I didn't look like them or speak Arabic. For all they knew, I'm half Lebanese. The 2 chicken legs and the whole white onion came out to about $7. For that kind of money I'll go get knock-off Indian elsewhere.

First, let me be clear, the food tasted great, in fact the lamb chops were seasoned to perfection. And for 6.99 it's a steal. And I would give this place 5 stars was it not for the black curly hair sticking to my third lamb chop. But the chops were so good, I took it off, and finished the chop. Spicy and hot. Delish. HAIR NETS guys! Also, I kinda feel that this place does not cater to anyone except the local Indo-Pak population, and that this hair was placed there on purpose, as I am not Indian or Pakistani. I hope they didn't put anything else in there that didn't belong there. Kinda want to go back there, but that hair is haunting me!!!

I was on my way home from work and was trying to figure out what to eat at 1am, then I see Naan's sign is all lit up what the hell lets try something new tonight

I so I go in and look at the special board and I go for the Chicken Kadai and some Butter Naan to go , he tells me it will be about 15 minutes I am like ok

finally he says it is ready I go up to pay and get my food and it is only $6 now that is a cheap dinner, I should of gotten a second piece of Naan though it was so good it went to fast

I will be back again for sure

We have gone here on several occasions and ordered the chefs special which I think changes hourly rather than daily. We have never been disappointed with the quality and authenticity of the items that were either recommended or on the menu. not a fancy restaurant so if you are looking for great ambiance, there are other Indian restaurants on Devon as well as downtown. Still worth checking out if you want a hearty meal.

    Naan on Devon

Don't need to come back here again.
We were immediately irritated. we tried to order off of the dry erase board at the back of the restaurant. Instead they ushered us to a table at the front and gave us the 'english language' menu. when ordering they didn't have 1/2 of what was on this menu. then why couldn't we have just ordered off the specials? pain in the ass.
julie ordered tandori chicken. was told they didn't have it. jeremy ordered chicken tikka. what's the difference between chicken tikka and tandori chicken? Cause they looked the same. tasted the same. what?
Ambata gosht. what's ambata? tasted like okra. but there were also maybe some other greens in there? by gosht they must have meant 'gosht bones' cause just no meat in there. but lots of bone. tasted good, though. Looked like green poops.
Mutton korma. when brought to the table, though, they said it was gosht. huh? neal felt it was undersalted. maybe even canned? tasted really standard.
When they told me they didn't have the 'frontier chicken' I ordered a beef paratha roll. I mean, how often do you see beef on an Indian menu? which ended up being, in essence, a wrap. that had ketchup and lettuce and mayo. what? how indian is that? tasted just like a whopper. seriously.
the naan tasted a little biscuity. no free raita, which we got everywhere else. again, meh.
The mango lassi was just alright. Very orange.
Julie got chicken boti, which came out chunked and boneless. Julie enjoyed it.
    The interior was fine. Plain.
yes, it was fairly inexpensive. but so are a million other places right there (ghareeb nawaz, for instance) that do it better for the same price.
Too many other, good options on devon to try Naan on Devon again.

I would give 5 stars for this restaurant.

Good news is they have started the same restaurant in a different building which is couple of blocks near the old one. the new one is exactly opposite to usmania. Now the ambiance is perfect. You never have to worry about taking someone with you to that place.

Chicken tikka is the one which I love the most. Mutton/Lamb briyani is the next one .Everythin is pretty cheap and would not belive the price they charge. It's the best food at the best cheapest price you could ever eat outside.

I highly recommend this place to try out. Believe me I'm a connoisseur of food.

This place is a hidden gem that is worth more than 5 stars when it comes to food. Try their rice and daal or tandoori fish.
Now the reason why I removed one star was because:
1: They don't have public washroom.
2: Tables are usually never clean.
3: Service can be very slow.
4: Parking in that area is nearly impossible.

Also, they are open from 2PM to 7AM. Very good spot to get some good Indian food late at night.
Not a reccomended spot for first few dates but great for couples who are seeking good food for 2 under $20. That if you tip them $6.
Menu changes every 4-6 hours and depends on chef's mood.
Just ask for whatever is fresh.

I found this place on accident and love it.  It's VERY small and easy to overlook.  If you are seeking an authentic experience, this is the place to go.  Nothing is fancy...at all.  The menu is written with a marker on a poster board.   I've never been to India or Pakistan, but I honestly thought I was there when I walked in.  There is no fluff in this place.

The portions are huge and it's rather cheap.  The last time I went there, I had the biryani plate for $4.00.  The plate came with basmati rice, naan, with biryani.  The do have several combination plates and specials.  But, as cheap as they are, they really don't need a special.

They are open later than most of the other restaurants on Devon and worth making stop.  Just look hard because it's easy to overlook.
