You would think there would be better options in the Union Station food court to grab a sandwich, but its kind of like Communist Russia; Options are limited. Â There's Pizza Hut (super greasy), Burrito Beach (a questionable shrimp experience that won't make me a repeat customer), Chinese, Gold Coast Dogs, Corner Bakery, Mickey D's and of course, Nino Panino's. Â
Nothing original here, folks. Â Just your standard sub and sammy shop. Â The ingredients are fresh, you can get your sub toasted, which is cool and they have a few soup options every day.
I'm deducting a few stars for the following reasons:
1. It takes FOREVER to get your toasted sandwich.
2. Kind of pricey. Â I paid $8 for a sandwich and a cup of soup.
3. Nino Panino's has an annoying trait of putting onions on my sub when I specifically request no onions. Â Hmmm... a consipracy perhaps?
4. I realize that this in no way controllable, but no diet Coke. Â Only Pepsi products. Â Boo!
Its nice to see a local place amid all the chain options at Union Station. Â As far as sub shops go, I thought Nino's was average. Â Good, but not great. Â I ordered a caprese with prosciutto. Â I thought that was a great idea. Â The basil and veggies were all fresh, but the Prosciutto was just barely detectable. Â Definitely better than the chains, but not as good as some of the other local sub places.
