Toos is filthy, but I like it that way. Â It's the definition of a dive bar, and located in a basement, I could see why some would consider this place sketchy as all get out.
I will agree with Kiarash that this is like a house party, just located in a bar. That can be good or bad depending on you mood, but Too's isn't a bad place at all, and a nice refresher from all the dance clubs in the area.
So come, hang out, and enjoy the grossness that is Too's. The specials are pretty great too: Tues is dollar domestics and Saturday they do Powerhour, just like that freshman year house party you chose to pregame at.
I decided to trust my friends who ushered me to the fantastic Skully's and wonderful Ravari Room when they suggested we hit Too's. I also was too tipsy to argue.
From the second we talked into the basement and I was greeted by a sea of backward baseball caps and men in sandals, I knew we'd have a problem. Basically, it's a bad house party. Nobody is dancing. A few people might be playing pool or darts, and there are far too many men and too few women.
With so many solid bars in Columbus, there's no reason to go here.
Caution nostalgia review:
I spent more time in Toos and Panini's South as an undergrad than I care to admit.
Every Thursday/Friday/Saturday night my roommates and I could be found at Toos, for $1 everything/the wing night/or just the everyday cheap drinks. My best friend and I usually went early to get a booth, going so often we would be greeted by our usual drink of choice before we even made it to our seat as well as a $20 from the register to get the jukebox started. It felt like Cheers until the masses of people came in.
I celebrated two 21st birthdays here, one with my fake id and one with my real one. They knew, but I am pretty sure they didn't care.
This leads to;
We were all there for the "final night" after they were forced to close due to underage sales I still feel a bit sad thinking about the last Billy Joel singing along. When I get a chance I will head back to this bar with my old friends, just seeing the blurry picture on this page brought back a flood of memories; dirty bath rooms, the entire bar singing Piano Man with the jukebox and my friend attempting to do the Pee Wee Herman dance on the bar ending in a disastrous fall. Thanks Too's.
So, my last review was written not so long ago but I have to write a quick few line update since I stopped in after the game saturday.
Actually, I got dragged here after the game on saturday. Â Long after the game - for the HAPPY HOUR! Â 7pm - 9pm on a saturday this IS the place to be on campus. Â $5 cover - $1 drinks - $2 top-shelf. Â Bad news... Â
Actual conversation with a girl who was just talking to one of my more politically minded friends -----
her: Â Do you drink socialists too?
me: Â Huh?
her: Â I really dink socialistism. Â Everyone gets free. Â Free Drinks. Â Free Sex.
me: Â Wow.
$1 everythings when the sun is still out is bad news. Â If you are looking for bad news around campus on a saturday, Too's it up.
I'd like to thank Nathan L. for pointing out the fact that Too's does still indeed exist. Walking by on a weeknight (besides Tuesday, of course) is likely to cause one to believe otherwise, as the bar is randomly closed for no apparent reason on some nights, but on certain nights this place can POTENTIALLY be an excellent stop on a High Street bar crawl. I capitalize that word because of Too's location, which happens to be just a stone's throw from OSU's Frat Row. The mercurial whims of the pop-collared masses often direct the tide of fratties towards places like McFadden's or The O (formerly known as Four Kegs), but it's not uncommon to see this dingy basement dive being held captive by thirty or so people that you'd rarely ever be caught dead mingling with. Too's is pretty tiny, which means that it's always hit or miss when assessing the situation at hand. It's rare to find the place in a happy medium between overflowing with the brotrain and completely dead, but the rare moment when you do is always triumphant. Drinks here are insanely cheap, especially on Tuesdays (get it- Too's on Tuesday...yeah) when the special is $1 domestic bottles and either one or two dollar shots of SoCo and Lime. If you're stopping by for a drink or two while en route to your next destination, Too's is rarely a bad bet. If it's the destination in itself, however, then the random chance of getting driven out by the fratties is often too likely to curb those plans for my liking. Like I said, it's close to everything, which makes it easy enough to poke your head in and make a choice within half a minute. Now as for Four Kegs...
