Skully's Music-Diner

Ive seen King Chip (fka Chip tha Ripper) and Pusha T perform here. Awesome small venue for up and coming artists. The gallery hop "Get Right" DJ's are the best in town.

Finally experienced "Ladies 80s" ($5 cover for men; free for women) here last night, and had a solid time.  The vibe here is pretty intense: very low lighting with piercing strobes and seizure-inducing disco lighting, and an excellent sound system that delivers high volume without being ear-splitting or distorted.  The crowd is about as diverse as it gets in Columbus, and the place gets *packed* and pretty hot.  As for the music itself, it was about 75% 80s with the rest from the early 90s.  I can see myself coming back here every couple of months, though I don't see myself stay more than a couple of hours at a time.

I've been here before for music shows, but this was the first time trying their food. Based on a few friends good comments of the dish, i decided to try out their Friday night special: Fish and Chips.

We got to the diner just after 7. at that time, no booths were open, so we took seat at a table. Our waitress, Dana, took our drink orders as we waited for a third friend to arrive. Upon her arrival, we all three decided to go with the FC dish and placed our order. A booth had come open, thus we shifted to a more comfortable eating arrangement.

It took close to 40 minutes to get our food - which normally I would be perturbed about, but all our chit chat made the time go pretty fast! Dana also came out to inform us that the kitchen had to make more fresh tarter sauce, thus food would be made promptly when they finished.

The two fish sticks where nice in size. Lightly breaded, hot, good flavor. They tasted great with the tarter sauce to dip in! The "chips" are wedge-cut French fries. As I meandered thru them, some of them were not cooked all the way through. But hot and soft for the most part. The small serving of cole slaw was good. I don't like tart slaw, so this made it past my lips.

The fish was the best part of the dish, in my opinion. I would have no problem coming back in the future to order this Friday nite happy hour special again.
