When I go to a bar, I want something I can't get easily at home--a hard-to-find microbrew, a liquer I'd like to try without buying a whole bottle. People can drink at home for significantly less, so you gotta give me some sort of incentive. Mouton provides that incentive in spades. Every cocktail I've had there (Whiskey Smash, Aviation, Blood & Sand, and Moscow Mule, to name a few) has been outstanding. They'll do a simple highball, and they have wines by the glass, but they really shine with the more complex cocktails. Vintage recipes, well-made. You can't beat it. I haven't had as many charcuterie items as cocktails, but that element hasn't disappointed me either. It's a little pricey, but for the neighborhood, I don't exactly expect $1 PBRs.
Review Source:We loved this place. Â We literally ducked in to "grab a drink" and escape the cold NYE weekend. Â To merely describe this as a bar is to suggest that a Bugatti is just a car. Incredible hand-crafted cocktails using the best liquor, wonderful, unique ingredients all in an environment that beckons one to grab your lover, bring a book, and decamp for some liquid pleasures.
