This was my first time here. Â I've known about this place for however many years they've been open but never really thought about going. Â That is until Jessica H. offered to be my guide during lunch yesterday. Â This was particularly nice as I got to do both Japanese style and vegetarian ( well I got some salmon ) all in one trip.
This restaurant has a very pleasant vibe to it. Â Nicely done interior befitting an upscale Japanese establishment. Â
Service was very  attentive.  Most people were outside on the nice patio so we almost had the place for ourselves.
I'm definitely impressed with this place. Â Started off with some miso soup and a salad. Â Moved on to some vegetarian Phad Thai which, while not the best I've ever had, was still very good none the less. Â ( I kicked it up a bit with some chili oil ).
We had three different types of sushi, my fave being the Harvest Roll. Â Wonderful flavors all coming together. Â A little ginger on top, a splash of soy sauce and I'm a happy eater.
Plenty of leftovers for take away so I had plenty to nibble on for the rest of the evening.
Good food, good company, good conversation = Â A good afternoon. Â I will be back.
The atmosphere of this place was amazing. After seeing it in the (614), I had to take my sushi-loving roommate here.
I, myself, am not a fan of sushi. The Vietnamese Beef Noodles I got was large in portion, but overly sweet and I was unable to really eat much of it. My roommate got the California Roll, and said while there was too much avacado, it was still decent.
I think the best thing about this place was the haiku poems people wrote and placed around the restaurant. The servers were also really quick and polite, and ready to answer questions.
Haiku is one of my favorite spots to eat not only in the Short North, but the whole of Columbus. The sushi is amazing and the rolls (especially the Employee Roll) are awesome! What people don't always realize is that Haiku has an amazing dinner and lunch menu with more than just sushi. On any given night myself and another person can get an entrée and leave the place for under $30 (tip included). The meals are amazing as well and the portion size is huge!
In short, try more than the sushi. You'll save some money and still get an amazing meal!
(Valet is great too!)
