Club 185

We have started going here on those nights when we just want good bar food and great, generous drinks.  Everyone from young urban sophisticates to local characters come here and everyone is treated in the same friendly neighborhood manner.   Did I mention the drinks are generous?  Daily specials are always good and cheap.  They don't have an extensive draft beer selection but what they have is good and they have many bottles.  Burgers are great.  Pizza is OK.  Mac 'n cheese hearty. But you don't come here mainly for the food. You come here because it is a great place to unwind and talk in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.  The staff is outstanding.  Come once, you will come back.

This was our first impression of the place- some of the people in our party had been there before, but for most of us this is our first (and last) experience.

I had higher hopes for this place; but like most places in German Village, please don't expect too much. The service was fine... I've had better at White Castle, 1AM, with drunk friends screaming at the lady behind the window. We had a large party, a table of eight this past weekend and three of us were screwed out of: 1) not receiving a drink, 2) being forced to pay for other friend's drinks (the server didn't pay enough attention and our friend left after paying his portion of the bill- we noticed a drink that none of us had and when we brought it up to her, she smiled, raised her eyebrows, shrugged her shoulder and said it was out of her control) or 3) being overcharged on a credit card by $50+ and not being able to take care of that charge until mid-week. Sorry, honey, that's not a good first impression on ANY of us. $50 isn't the end of the world, but it's a big enough chunk of change to make a stink about it- we're college kids who tip well and have all worked in the service industry, don't waste our time with pathetic excuses like "Someone will get back to you about that." or "it's out of my control." Please, you pay for a drink when you fail to do your job as a server. We've all been there.

I usually would give this place a second shot, especially since I hear they have a killer food menu, but I think three strikes in one night is enough for now.

Club 185 has a really tasty burger. Slightly thin patties, on a glistening greasy toasted bun. I got mine with pickles and onion and put on some mustard myself. Perfect diner style burger imo.

Service was fast and friendly too. Great place for a quick lunch on a weekday.
